2025 Trax ANC
This video is intended to document how I removed / disabled the ANC mics from a 2025 Chevy Trax at my own risk. I always recommend you go to the dealership or professional to disable them rather than disconnect altogether. You will likely void warranties, so you are assuming risk.

Where did you tap the amp turn on wire?
@jakebrady9609 Heated steering wheel fuse. Used a tap a fuse link from O'Reillys
Did you have any ANC feedback issues?
@chadgrothaus1913 I had no issues once all 3 sensors were disconnected.
@hino121212 but you DID need to disconnect them once you did the speakers only?
@@chadgrothaus1913 only when I added the subwoofer. If you're only doing the door speakers, there shouldn't be any issues. At least, I didn't.
@hino121212 excellent, and thank you for taking the time to respond. I've seen mixed input on this from reddit and the forum. I'm going to follow you from my main account, have a great new year!
@chadgrothaus1913 you too, brother. Happy new year!
Thanks
Ok this may be a dumb question, but why disable the mics?
@kevinr5187 not a dumb question at all. The mics pickup road noise in the cab. It counters that by pushing sound waves from the speakers to offset it. That is how active nose control works. If you don't disable it, you'll hear that sound the ANC makes at your sub. Sort of like thumping noises throughout your drive, lol. It's really loud and really annoying.
How did you insulate the door and what didnt you use to insulate it?
I used the Siless 80 Mil sound deadening mat on Amazon. Remove the thin plastic liner taped on the inside of v the door to gain access to the inside of the door panel. Roll the mat on to cover as much of the door skin as you can reach. I had to cut strips of the mat to make it work. You can also replace the factory thin plastic liner, but i didn't go that far. Just went direct to door skin. Pretty easy and makes a huge difference.
@@hino121212 i appreciate it
TO DISABLE ANC FOR GOOD - GREEN PLUG / WHITE PLUG BEHIND GLOVE BOX - You tapped white for the speakers. Green has the blue/violet ANC WIRE- CUT IT & BE DONE - Unplugging ALL the mic's in the headliner does not work entirely. GODSWORK FELLAS!
@OverwatchSIX nice! Unplugging it worked for both my Trax, but I've heard others saying it didn't for them. Your option seems a heck of a lot easier than unplugging all the mics. Good looking out!
Are your door speakers amplified? How do you run wires to them?
@TheDanielTruong no they're not. Honestly, once you do a basic replacement and add a sub, I don't find the desire to amplify the doors. Sounds great as-is. You don't run wires, you use the existing wires. You would have to cut the wires run the ones closest to the stereo to your LOC, then run from the LOC to the cables that lead out the speakers. No need to run cables that are already in place unless you were getting serious and need bigger wires
Thanks
Hey bro I love your videos. I just got a 2025 trax activ and am looking to do some speaker upgrades. Any recommendations? Also was curious what 6 3/4 brackets you used in the last video and what adaptor you also used. Any links would be greatly appreciated. Love the content
@sublimeinnovations2930 good choice! I honestly didn't feel the need to spend big on door speakers. Went with the 6.75 inch kickers and got them through Crutchfield because they send you the correct brackets and harness adapters. Go to my channel to see the door speaker install video I made, and you'll see the part numbers. Though, I priced it out individually at Amazon and it was more expensive.
@sublimeinnovations2930 also, I went with a 8" Skar sub setup that is way more powerful than I ever expected. I only went with the 8 to maximize trunk space knowing well that it would be what I really wanted. Boy was I wrong because it hits very well. skaraudio.com/products/evl-1x8d2-rp-8001d-skar4-anl-ofc
@@hino121212 I did watch that video. Was unaware they send you the brackets and adaptors with speaker purchase. That’s awesome. Where are you located? I love ya work with the sub in the 2024
@sublimeinnovations2930 Fyi, it's the same process for the 2025.
Which cable did you connect I don’t know ?
We just did this. After the vehicle was idling for awhile happy we figured it was disabled so easily in 2 minutes, talking outside, windows in the suv were down. We hear it randomly. It's still there. So I can confrim this doesnt entirely work. It's a lot better yes, but its still at a totally not managable level. Tomorrow my buddy will stop by again & ill have taken a deep dive into ALLDATA too see what else can be done / what's required to disable it other than a dealership. Surely having alfa obd full, Torque, Carista,Forscan, vxdiag, gds2 & a beast autel, something will have the support hopefully lol.
@OverwatchSIX that's crazy. I have 2 of these cars, and removing all 3 sensors on each completely eliminated the anc reverb. Dealer should be able to do it at no cost, though, so no sense in messing with it yourself if you don't need to.
I would really like to see exactly which wires you tapped into at the stereo end. I've never done this and would really like to see which ones you used and how you did it. Possible? Thanks for the vid!
How did you get the wiring harness to come out of the stereo under the dash?
@fireman6x9 there's a safety lock ( a white tab) that you have to pull out before you can depress the clip release. It's exactly where you would depress the clip release but recessed in to prevent you from pushing down on it.
Eventually found it, thanks for the video and the reply. Finally finished installing a Rockford Fosgate P300-12T.
@fireman6x9 nice! My 8" sounds way better than I anticipated, so I can only imagine how good your setup kicks.
Thanks this was very helpful ! Awesome job👍🏼💯
how did it sound?
Pretty big difference on the sound. You shouldn't expect an increase in bass, but it does clean it up a lot. I added a Skar Audio 8, and it it's way more than enough.
One thing I do extra, is I add weather stripping in between the door and bracket. Helps prevent rattle.
@Silverado21 Yes, I put a really small bead (if that) of rtv on the plastic that meets the metal as I'm disassembling the door panel. It'll dry but stay soft and prevent any rattle. Should have mentioned that too in the video. Appreciate your advice!
for the roof noise canceling thing is there only one wire on the driver side I can’t find the backseat passenger seat ones
@sampplerl8774 There are 3 mics. Drivers, passengers, and rear seats just behind the dome lights. I posted another video on that, so check my uploads.
Can you please send a pic of which fuse you tapped into for the remote . I did the install and having issues with my amp randomly turning on and subs making noises when car is off .
@@rylee.milligan1695 i used one in my fusebox underneath the dash on the drivers side. Fuse 8: HSWM. I believe that's my Heated Steering wheel.
Great video! Thanks. Any idea on the color of the front speakers? Or if its only 2 sets with a xover hidden? I tried cutting the wires next to thecrear with no luck. Ussing the battery trick.
Great tutorial!👍🏻👌🏻
Hello, could you upload a video explaining how to disconnect the ANC connector, I would greatly appreciate it.
X2
@julioortiz6715 take it to the dealer to disable. I did upload a video on how I removed mine, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to keep warranty or to prevent damages.
@@Bailacumbiarescate see comment below
So how do you know if you have the Bose speakers? I thought they all came with them? At least for the 2022!
Normally the SEL plus and above have the Bose speakers I believe. I have the 2022 SEL w/ convenience package and it was the same stereo as the one in the video. You would know because instead of saying “HD radio” in the top left side it would say “Bose”
@@aldosromero1918 I have a 2022 se. Basic radio, I was wondering if I would be able to replace mine with the bose radio. I have taken mine out and took a picture of the part numbers and all the plugs. Obviously I have fewer plugs, is there a way to add everything im missing and figuring out what I would be missing. Thanks
Yee I hate the OEM trax speakers I fucking hated my ford focus but ford sound systems sound light miles better even with there bottom of the line speakers than these gm speakers I think imma just wait for door replacements at my body shop and scoop any of the higher end speakers up and put them in
The front door has an additional sail panel that you have to remove first. That's the little triangular plastic trim that sits at the bottom right hand corner of the glass.
Thanks for making the video although a part of me wished you shone a light into the ANC connector! Take care.
@guyreviewer105 yeah, I may do that next go, but your dealership can disable thru the obd2 without going thru the hassle of disconnecting all 3 mics in the headliner.
@guyreviewer105 I uploaded a video on this just now on how I did mine, but I still would recommend taking it to the dealer to disable.
I went thru the firewall grommet. Below the cluster of wires their's a nipple you can cut off then you have to cut off the other side under the dash. It took a little lube but I pulled 1/0 thru😂
It's amazing the attention to detail in this car. In the boot, beside the spare tire are two posts that seem they were put there just for a ground to an aftermarket amp! Maybe a qualified tech will tell me I am wrong. LOL.
@@guyreviewer105 That's what I was thinking! If only they'd put RCAs out on the headunit...
There isn't much info out there if you can add the information requested by djdicky02, as well as how you ran the amp positive wire thru the firewall, it would help so many people thanks in advance. I already subscribed.
I don't have the car anymore, but it took me drilling a small hole through the firewall for the power. My ground was just a bolt near the rear seat.
What kind of system are you running in this Rogue? And do you have other videos of the actual RCA converter installed? And the remote wire install?
Skar Audio 10". They have bundles at a very good price and will stick with them for the foreseeable future.
Great video, saved me a ton of time!
The ANC microphone is located only above the dirver side? Only one mic? Can’t believe I’ve cancelled full installation because of one little microphone 🤯🤦♂️🤦♂️
I have 3 in my Chevy
I have a 1RS. There are THREE mics. One beside the driver. One beside the front passenger and one between the rear passengers just behind the dome light.
@Pench07 I know this comment was made a long time ago but don't let the ANC deter you from the install. It's very easy for a dealer to disable. Takes 15 min, if that. I just disconnected them because my dealership is a bit of a drive to get to.
Hi thanks for the video, can you tell me if disconnecting the ANC pop an alert on the dashboard? Also my issue is only when the door is close and the engine started then I start to hear the noise of the engine feedback in my sub and speakers.. does it related to the ANC?
Sorry for the delay. No lights popped up for me at all. All equipment going strong months later.
Also, I'm not sure why you're getting that feedback. I was told it does pertain to the ANC but I haven't looked into it much. I've heard you can ask the dealer to disable the feature altogether - not sure if that would do it.
You got any video or advice on how to replace the tweeters located in the front pillars?
What’s the 2 wires on the right side of radio? RCA?
I think that's just Sat antennas and/or USB. You have to add a Line out converter to it out for rca signal. Look at the other comments for the link to the video I posted on which wires I identified for my application. Keep in mind it could be different on yours if it's not the same unit.
So on connector b pin 33 is a ignition line might be worth T-tapping for remote since we already by the plugs, this was extreamely helpful btw shaved hours off
hey man could you make a quick video on which wires in the speaker unit you connected your RCA to? It would be very helpful! thank you
I can do that. I'll try to knock it out tomorrow if not by the end of the week.
Did you ever make a video on what wires you tapped in to for the radio?
@eatdemons7736 check out the last few seconds of this video. I added a photo of which wires I tapped into (front 2 doors)
you know on the box for the amp it says not to mount it to the sub box
Yeah, I'm aware. I'm sure it may damage it, but I've always done it like this and never had issues. Willing to take the risk at my own expense.
@bigmoneypp1640 not bragging - just for info puposes... everything is still working.
What’s the reason for disconnecting the active noise control?
It produces a signal to your speakers that the sub picks up. It's loud and annoying
@@hino121212 thanks! My 2021 Silverado has those ports I thought were for talking, maybe they are but I never disconnected anything and it works great, could be a completely new thing on the trax now
@maxostapchuk5416 yeah, it was a first for me too, and it scared me half to death when I first started the car up after the install. Many of the newer Chevys, like the blazer, have it too.
@@hino121212 I am just thinking that the microphone is listening for low rumbling road and engine noise so it can cancel it out. On the flip side, a bass note can also be called a low rumbling noise by grandparents. LOL.
Is there anything else you had to do or did the speakers work well with car wiring? I know some people had to cut the anc in the car
For different speakers
No, not for the door speaker swap. I did take out the ANC plug after a added a subwoofer because it does interfere, but nothing was needed for this upgrade.
@@hino121212 ok perfect! That’s what I thought people did but just wanted to make sure it was just for the sub and not the speakers themselves, I ordered a set for my Trax!
@braden2233 sick! It does sound good, but if you're like me, you're young to want the sub. Feel free to reach out if you want details on that install! I don't have videos, but I may be able to put something together with general info.
@@hino121212 thank you!! Yeah I had plans to install a small one in trunk eventually but wanted to start easy because I know the subs are a pain especially with modern dashes. How is the quality difference? I notice the lows on the factory speakers is pretty awful, the tweeters from factory aren’t actually all that bad imo
What size are the speakers??
6.5"
Are those 6.5” speakers?
They are indeed 6.5" Kickers
How’s the new speaker sounding also what kicker model is that?
It's worth the upgrade for sure, but don't expect to get much bass out of door speakers. What you will notice is that there's a lot more clarity and volume from the mids and highs without any distortion. Would highly recommend
KICKER - CS Series 6-1/2" 2-Way
Did you get a lot of reverb from noise cancellation mics? I changed my speakers and when I’m slowing down I hear like bass
Are the speakers the same on the Bose audio Rogue? And are the stock speakers any good?
Honestly, I'm not certain. I've not done one with the bose system and I don't have access to schematics
Did you installed the Android Headunit? Can you please share me the link of that product.
I did not. This is for amp install on factory stereo.
Why did you do 6x8 versus 6x9?
No major reason other than I like the way the 6x8 fit onto the existing mounting bracket with minor modification. 6x9 would have required aftermarket brackets, which I didn't have time for.
Did you figure out what wires are what at the deck?
Yes.. I just posted another video with that info. Sorry for the late reply
th-cam.com/video/ZqhlfgxuMCg/w-d-xo.html
Finally the exact video I needed
Which LOC did you use? Which sub did you go with?
Skar Audio 10 inch. Initially a kicker LOC, but switched to the Hifonics BXiPro3.0 Processor for my signal. Way better than your typical LOC.
