Still a lot of time to be saved. Will return to later. Plenty can be cut out, but at the expense of issues with stage ranks. This'll require a lot of re-routing. But, with it I can probably make the run around 10 hours. Watch live at www.twitch.tv/heromystic

Does this work when you go the the path of da'at?

Great video, and I've been seeing interesting speedruns and challenge runs cropping up on TH-cam lately, but yours is the best breakdown of the current speedrunning meta. Looking forward to seeing what other interesting speed run strats will crop up in the future, especially where 100% True Zenoiran is concerned.
What a neat video ! I was a bit saddened that the state of the internet and the difficulty of stating an opinion had you feel the need to set up with so much caution. For future content, I'd be delighted to see you use this timeslot to set up why you like something entirely unapologet... ugh, such a hard word, you catch my drift. Your personnal story about why this or that point make you vibe, an earlier time you encountered that mechanic and it changed the way you looked at games, etc... You don't need to prove something IS fantastic, there's indeed always someone to disagree. Just prove it's fantastic to you in a relatable way, and attract like-minded engagement ! So much more joy for the creator and the consumer !
Thanks for this video, super interesting how fast you can end the game with the well planned ways to beat high level missions early.
Exact build for the two teams? I'd like to try this for myself
I can put an imgur in the description showing builds for each. I'll update it soon.
Yes please that'd be so neat
@patriciaholt4964 Description has been updated.
I like the music and your trinity rain setup is sick. ...I really hope dlc is coming!
Atleast there's an AI Rework mod.
It would be kinda neat if they improved their decision making as they leveled.
The idiocy of the AI really shines even on a regular playthrough if you ever use Orgia Mode. I did once and Aigis insisted on using Akasha Arts over and over again on enemies that block strike attacks.
Think thats dumb? See my Junpei using exclusively Brave Blade on Enemies that Null Slash even though he can hit them with Gigantic Fist. Also he also sometimes spams Agi instead of any of his Phys Skills (enemy is neutral to Phys and Fire).
The AI really gets worse and worse in each game. I did an act freely only run of P5R and it was bad, there are so many moves that they just will never use. They despise support moves even if you actively set them to use them, I almost wonder why it is even a choice when they won’t use them regardless.
I don't think full assault is for targeting weaknesses, but to kill the enemy with the lowest HP. In FES there was a "Target weakness" command, which I'm not sure if it's in Reload or not... but I think you might have had more luck if you had the team on "act freely." It's just a thought though, not really me trying to be like, "You messed up because..." but more like thinking hypothetically what if you did it another way.
Getting to use direct input made me so happy when i picked up reload.
U should post more clips of ur opheus only run
Been dabbling in other games, but that's the plan.
The worst part is they won’t baton pass So if someone else can weaken the enemy the ai won’t pass to them
Much like with Donald (and goofy) in kh1 (and 2), i played persona 3 when i was still a dumb kid/teen, so i have a feeling some of My complaints about Bad AI were just me not knowing how Best to optimize the orders and expectations of the characters i couldn't directly control. As the years and memes have passed, I've discovered this was the case for a Larger number of us than we may have thought.
Until they add 'aim for weakness' order, I will always do direct command.
except they dont use shift and arent very smart
Say what you want, he's still the only guy who will attack a boss that resists his weapon when set to act freely because I didn't use tactics unti Nyx in FES. Brought him, Ken and Akihiko to fight that damn table resisiting physical and immune to electric and the latter two just sat there passing turns and healing themselves while junpei does all the damage and I'm actually doing the healing with Titania.
Who tf plays with AI party 💀
A lot of people who actually liked the Ai party in the original (me included) because it was better and more immersive to actually work with a team you aren't puppeteering 🤷

Wonder why the ui changed from keyboard to playstation mid fight. A bit curious why you would swap between the two.
That's me alt tabbing to my discord. I have a program that stops the game from freezing when you switch windows so it still detects input.
@@HeroMystic Oh, makes sense. What is that program by the way cuz it sounds useful?
@@danielgrezda3339 The program is called Special K. Should be the first thing that pops up on a google search, and installation is pretty simple.
@@HeroMystic Thanks!
I think someone released a mod to make them smarter?
Yeah, someone did. I may give it a shot and showcase it later, but I'm halfway through my Orpheus-only run and adding a mod to it now seems disingenious.
This hurts to watch
Me for the fifteen time in Tartarus during an AI Only Run: “Junpei. Please. You know it’s weak to Fire. It’s right there. We’ve been through this. You saw me use Agi in the one right next to it! Just spend the three SP, please!!!” Junpei: “Oh, I hear ya, Leader! So, I use Bash and - oh, I missed.”
Junpei did not end it thus.
The ai in P3R is a sad downgrade from P3FES. P3R was challenging only during the early game. The moment theurgy was unlocked all hell broke lose.
"Not Marin Karin!"
And this is why I don’t use Party AI
damn thats bullshit as always
At least they Actually know your full inventory of personas and Actually switch to you when they know you can hit a weakness unlike in persona 5 where if my equipped persona couldn't hit a weakness they Just attacked again
Yours use the shift mechanic? Mines just keep attacking the weakest enemy until it dies.
They can't use the shift mechanic. this person is just spreading misinfo lol@@kennethgordon9185
Not once in the 83 hours played has a party member shifted, what the hell? I like it more this way but I genuinely think they aren't doing it.
You know how there’s a single button you can press and it gives you a recommended move ? I wonder if the AI party members run on that same recommended system. Because this game can recommend me a lot of stupid 💩. I think my persona builds might confuse the computer
I think you're exactly right. LOL
Ya know, I thought Junpei was cooking for a second with that crit
the hand movement oddly fits the music
I'm guessing the reason for this is that the AI is trying to prioritize filling the theurgy gauge, since Junpei's gauge fills quicker through crits. Knowing that, it makes this even worse because you haven't unlocked theurgy's yet at this point, so he's trying to land crits for basically NO reason.
But isn't it good to land crits since you do more damage
@@darkspiro6467crits are less likely to happen than just landing a regular magic skill though
I'm no master at reload but crits do knock down enemies
This was just a hypothesis. Whether or not it's true is up for debate.
@@foxu3478of course, but y'know what's better than unpredictable crits before there's reliable methods for landing them better? Using the correct element to have a MUCH higher chance at getting a knockdown. 👍
Is "target weaknesses" not a command anymore
Stopped being in P4
@@dgshoe lame
The only tactics we get now are the basic ones (Act Freely, Full Assault, Save SP, Heal/Support)
I have to admit… I did not know you could even do that. 😂 I knew the original game and P3P had it where the party members attacked automatically through their AI (I think P3P could let you turn that off? I only played a bit of it before I stopped when I found out P3R was being made. I only got to after the tutorial of Tartarus in it). I figured they took it out altogether because of the fanbase’s hatred for it!
If they were smart after Junpei downed an enemy he would have baton passed to akihiko to then mazio and down another enemy then akihiko passes it to yukari at the very least. IDK the setups in Reload but setting up buffs and debuffs if enemies were not going down fast enough would have made more sense than what they did. No matter the persona game i don't think the AI will ever be smart enough to keep up with the player and its more frustrating than helpful having to put up with a pitiful tactics menu with no info on what each command has their AI do and them having hidden preferences as well as not focusing on what the party needs regardless of game. Atlus introducing direct command i think was the right call nowadays cause AI in games are downright stupid regardless of game especially when there is a defective tactics menu.
Music name?
Funky the Main Monkey from Donkey Kong Country 2
I’ll tell you, this game was the first one that had me full control of the party for the whole game. While in P5 and most of Persona 4, the party was in the act freely mode.
this is my first persona game and I thought it was normal to manually control the actions of the party
I think p4 and p5 also can do the same thing full party control too like P3 reload and portable too
All I’m saying, I had it set on act freely all the time in P5 and most of the rest of P4, while P3 Reload was the first time I only had it on direct control.
@@SamualNit is. he's just special
@@Ilyapa He's saying this is the first one that made him use direct control. The other games he chose to AI party members. He wasn't saying the others didn't have the option.
This got so many views so quickly that I am humbled. So here's context for the video: This is part of my Orpheus-only Run on Merciless Mode. There's added rules to this to make this more interesting, as I've done Starter Persona only runs in past games too. One of these rules is Direct Commands are banned. I've ran with the AI in past games too, as I find the handicap pretty fun. So the A.I. has always been competent in past games. The stuff the A.I does in P3R though is beyond baffling. It's worse than P5 by a mile. This clip is just one of many examples I've ran into during my run, and at this point I just see it as comedy. Hopefully that clears up so confusion I saw in the comments.
can't wait to see the mitsuru clips 😅
Something I never understood was party members using ma- skills when it would’ve been cheaper to using the single target skills twice
@@emeraldpistol1251if you got magaru and Garula its cheaper to use magaru on two and more enemies. They probably didnt just code that kind of a calculation in
My first run of P5Royal was an AI run u til the new semester, just to make the game more fun/challenging for me. I HAD to turn it off for the Museum boss fights (OMG THE ENTIRE PHANTOM THIEVES ROSTER IS COLORBLIND WTF) and the Okumura boss (for hopefully obvious reasons). I was hoping I could do an AI run my first time running P3R cause it can’t be worse than the original P3 game, right! Now I’m slightly worried…
Now I'm even more confused, because I'm thinking about my own experience with the original P3 AI and you are calling this bad?? This is 100% what I expected from these three characters
So am I the only one who’s Junpei is a dodging and Crit master? Like for the first 30 floors of Tarturus he was carrying me lmfao 🤣, since then it’s been harder but I mean he’s been really clutch so far. I know that’ll end tho like in Pokémon my boy is gonna lose the gamble and die a whole lot I can feel it
Junpei is very, very good once you unlock all his stuff. Fishing for Crits is actually his niche.
I built my Junpei for full on crits baby, increased his Luck Stat, made sure to have a Persona with Start of Turn Attack and Crit buffs for the group and got him to 99 Strength by lv63. He is now lv84 and it is funny to see him crit bosses for nearly 2k damage and like almost 6-7k damage with bis Theurgy
Yukari is your number 1 hater probably since she’s definitely healing stupei after every battle
Ace Defective at it again
In original, if you want to exploit weakness, use knock down instead of full assault.
Correct. Knock Down does not exist in P3R, though.
I haven't played this remake, but in my experience of playing Fes, and Portable (In this case, no direct command and only use Act Freely), all the party member always acted very logical and made a good decision for each of their action, and I never had any frustrating experience of witnessing the ai made dumb decisions (In fact, I love letting the ai do their work than the direct command). Maybe after Persona 3, the devs didn't really improve the ai on making their decision. The proof was when I played Persona 4 and 5 and set all the companion to "Act Freely" and they acted super dumb, where it almost killed me a few times.
I remember they got smarter in P5, as they would reliably Baton Pass to each other or to the Protag, and they would consistently use weakness skills EDIT: I say this compared to P4, not FES
The ai is generally very good, the only problem with Junpei is because the AI now has to consider the new Theurgy mechanic and his Theurgy raises by the amount of crits he hits he doesn't prioritise identified weaknesses.
@@Steroyd666 I am very thankful they save their Theurgy moves for boss fights/special bois (like the gold hands)
I've died too many times because of this bullshit
Junpei, I respect your energy, but save it for later man, trust me

You think its fun till you fight a miniboss and Ann refuses to try and sleep it once to see if it can be slept. After that its enough to say yeah this tactics thing does not work and move on with your day with everyone on direct commands since the AI are so stupid still.@@therealteddiefrompersonafour
@@dave9515 I don't use Ann, that never happened to me, still a blast
@@idiotnumbnuts8486amen
to be fair, the party ai became a lesser important feature once they received complaints about characters using unfavourable skills especially in fights where you can finish enemies off in a single cycle or require a heal and they either use a buff or go for a status effect skill and fail.
Those were more jokes than serious complaints. It doesn't happen that often. 3/FES party members were really smart, most of the time if they make a dumb move it's because you're using the wrong tactics. Also not sure that the solution to solving "bad AI" is to make it worse
I swear, most people that complained about bad AI are either parroting a meme without ever having played the game themselves or they did but refused to engage with Tactics at all and just left everyone on Act Freely. I'm replaying FES, over halfway through the game and I don't think I saw Marin Karin once, except against Intrepid Knight, which is when Marin Karin spam is my usual strategy.
