      Unfortunately the block is yard art. The lifter valley and bores had already been sleeved a long time ago and had heavy rust and pitting. I kept the heads, pistons, and rods for a donor engine to convert to an RP code again. Not sure if it's gonna go back in the skylark again. Buick parts are EXPENSIVE.

    Why not just take the wheel hub off so you don’t have to take apart all those suspension parts?

    • @seannykraynak
      @seannykraynak 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course I know “just” take the wheel hub off in the rust belt is kinda whimsical to say but I feel like it would still be easier than undoing the control arm, links, and ball joint/tie rod. Or is there something preventing that approach?

    • @langspeedcycle
      @langspeedcycle 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't pivot the knuckle enough to get the axle out. The axle needs to come out before removing the hub because the mounting bolts are on the inside of the knuckle

    I have this same bike. Fuck that petcock. I rebuilt mine and still got gas everywhere trying to get it to work. You really need to get that airbox back on, these bikes are tuned for the flow restriction of the stock airbox. Mine was a mess, I did what I could with silicone and foam weatherstripping.

    Your video gave me the confidence to replace mine and save $$$. So easy! Thanks for taking the time and helping so many of us wanabe gear heads! I ordered my axle (TrakMotive) from RockAuto and in the install instructions, it said in ALL CAPS NOT to put any lubrication, grease or anti seize on the splines or threads. I thought it odd to say that, but I did what they said. It seemed to have a coating of light oil on it already. I suppose each manufacturer might be different but thought I would mention this just in case. Probably makes sense to read the instructions if any come with the parts. Thanks again for posting!
