Can Hunting Endangered Species Save the Species | 60 Minutes & the Exotic Wildlife Association
มุมมอง 9603 หลายเดือนก่อน
60 Minutes features the Exotic Wildlife Association as they look into how hunting rare and endangered species is actually saving the species. It all began decades ago, when ranchers took in surplus animals, some endangered in the wild, from zoos. Now there are more than 250,000 exotics living on ranches, mostly in Texas, in a business that supports 14,000 jobs. "That's why these animals thrive....

    YES. Hunters are willing to poor resources and time into game to save them. WE need more, not less of this occurring. Don't trust me, just research what hunting has done for Rhino's in South Africa. I watched a video today were a PH, hunters and a gov employee stumbled on and took down poachers. Priscilla is long on talk and short on cash. Money talks and sideways face talk lady contributes NOTHING. She would let them die of old age rather than generate revenue off and animal at it's end and put that money into conversation. Stay out of the way of hunters and they will rebuild animal populations far better than left wing wacko's ever will. In Senegal, they will get poached. In Texas, they get protected and were saved.

    Wow, great job keeping these animals alive on ranches an ocean away from their native lands, they must have such awesome lives getting bled out for fun by rich people. This is really doing a lot for... *checks notes*... "conservation"! I love the euphemisms as well, you're so proud of all the "good" your elitist hobby does for the world but you won't even come right out and say what it is? You kill animals for fun. You like it even more when you get to kill cool, exotic animals. You dedicated your entire lives to it, and make millions off it. Shameless to use cute euphemisms to pretend you're doing this purely for gracious reasons when literally the SOLE motivation is to hunt them and make money off of people hunting them. Why, exactly, is a species being kept perpetually on ranches in the USA for rich people to blast with rifles better than that species going extinct? And what causes those extinctions in the first place? I don't remember hunters saving the blue buck... in fact, they drove it extinct, just like they nearly did for ALL THREE species in this video. You don't get points for giving fake, superficial solutions with ulterior motives to problems you created yourself. Scum of the earth.

    Wonderful!! Stupid humans have almost exterminated the great Rhinos in Africa - for no reason, since medical tests indicate that rhino horn is useless and has no effect on the male sexual system. Leave it to stupid humans to destroy beautiful animals.

    PETA really fucked these animals. PETA is the enemy of endangered species. Texas ranchers have the ability to resurrect endangered animals if there is a market for them. Allow people to hunt small amounts of them and there numbers skyrocket. You've got to start shipping some of them back to Africa though, that's the only way.

    This shows the PETA people that there IS a need for a responsible way to raise and nurture these endangered animals out of their native lands. Done this way, there is hope for eventual restocking in their native lands if and when the safety of their return to their original habitat can be mostly guaranteed. There are more animals out there in need of rescue! Well done EWA!

    Question: If it is impossible to return these species to their native wild habitats, especially due to the inherently unstoppable factors of climate change & negative human pressures, since these species are otherwise successfully thriving in North America, that may they be candidates for "new-native" repopulation adoption by States and Provinces & Territories? To its benefit, if further scientific qualification is required to convince all Governments involved to participate, into research of Pleistocene Rewilding?

    • @TheBikepackingNomad
      @TheBikepackingNomad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this is the ultimate goal but more studies need to be looked at to ensure we aren’t risking introducing an infectious agent which native (wild) herds may not have been previously exposed to. Have to be careful how rewilding from captive stock is implemented, but these ranchers are interested in supporting rewilding efforts I can tell you that!

    Don't be ashamed to call it what it is - private pay-for-trophy hunting preserves. Just like Ducks Unlimited was begun by duck hunters to ensure there would always be enough of a waterfowl population to hunt, this must be financed by big-game trophy hunters with deep pockets. Not saying that's a bad thing but please don't blow sunshine up my butt by pretending you're doing it for the welfare of these species out of kindness and benevolence. You all want the ability to go out and hunt them for sport eventually.
