You must activate 3D imaging in "simulation mode" on you're Lowrance HDS Live unit as it is not activated out of the box from the factory. In the video text, in the beginning, the word "may" should have been "will" require additional components to use 3D on the water. My apology's, It was never my intention to mislead anyone. Thanks!

At the beginning of the video, I clearly state that it is capable of 3D with additional equipment, not while fishing...
You also said "you have to turn simulate on" and gave instructions how to fix a black screen. not sure why you would say that cause it just demos. It was capable when you simply turned it on under features. Just needed to connect your 3d component.

Thank and yes the 7 and 9 have the same functions, the units do not come with all the equipment needed to use the 3D out of the box, but can be bought later to do it.
That is simulation mode only. It does not come with the standard HDS 9
Hey y’ll I have an hsa7 carbon with ss3D transducer+ module! Have 3d feature on, when I click 3D I see a boat with blank black screen no scanning appears, had done 3D update and still no scan! Any input anyone?

Please consider warranty and customer service when you buy because if you have trouble like with lowarnce their the worst in the business.your regret having to deal with them
I never hear the original 365 called an OG. Anyway, I choose the XL because it fit my hand like a glove unlike the OG and the slide is not as tall. The OG looks like a 2x4 mounted on a broom handle. (just my opinion) Too much like a Canik

Unfortunately, Lowrance did not put a water temp sensor on the three in one transducer, I think that is a shame also.
Dude, this is very misleading. You should have also explained exactly what you need TO ACTUALLY make it work. Had you also said “it also will cost you an additional $1000 for the box and additional transducer, AND that transducer needs to plugged in...” I would have subscribed and upvoted.
In the video, it clearly states in writing (0.26-second point) that additional equipment is needed to produce 3D. I am quite clear on this, Thanks.
@@gillchaser449 Why don't you just admit your video may be misleading. At the :26 minute mark the text states "..... may require additional components..." not "additional equipment is needed" as you state above. Correct the text in your video and all is well.

This just turns on the simulator. If you want have 3D when you’re on the water in your boat,...you need to buy the Structure Scan 3D module and the Transducer. Another $1000.00 dollars. I bought mine a month ago. This video just gives you a demo glimpse of what the 3D looks like. When you install your structure scan 3D, Pay an tension to how you install the 3D module. We’re talking about the power cord from the 3D module (this is in the installation guide). The red goes to positive, the black goes to Negative,...and yes, the yellow wire ALSO goes to the Positive. Without the yellow connected to the Hot(positive) the module doesn’t know that it has to wake up and do work when the Fishfinder gets its 3D button pushed.

I am thinking of getting this for a new boat for Lake Ontario? Can anyone tell me exactly what I need for everything to work for all them down scan,side scan,live ect. Does everything come in the package? I may want to add serius xm weather later but only thing I dont want is radar. A fish hawk x4 wont hook up to this will it?

Hi Gill.....I just ordered this HDS 9 Live and my boat has no gauges. My motor is a year 2020 115/80 Mercury Jet. What do I need to connect my motor to my lowrance so i can view the RPM's and other gauge functions on the Lowrance? Thank you for any help and others please reply with any information. Thanks
You will need a NEMA 2000 network and a Mercury interface cable for your Mercury.
This dude is misleading you here. All that does is turn on simulator. You need an extra 3d module as well. Costs extra

Very interesting. The Raymarine Axiom9 RV Combo comes with their all in one transducer that does 3D imaging and its around 1300.00

Wow, I have no idea where you're coming from? I think all electronics are petty good these days, however, in my experience, I have LOTS of fishing friends and I myself have had many makers of electronics and I can tell you this; Lowrance has been the most trouble-free. The most user-friendly and there interfaces hookup and work.
3 in 1 Transducer 3D ??? I have the HDS9 Carbon with a 3 in 1 Transducer 6' of cable on a Kayak.
The center line at the bottom of the scan field is not the prop wash. If it was it would be suspended in the air like the fish. The center is the gap from the two side transducers. This is common in side scanning sonars.
Hi Gill, question for ya, i bought the HDSLIVE 9 with 3 in 1 transducer included, the ducer shows up as "unknown" in settings on the sonar, wich one do i select? , none match the A12 3 in 1 i have on the sticker , and on the box, / for example my old gen3 hds had totalscan, that showed up as totalscan m/h , but not this new one, gah, any ideas on this one is welcomed, thanks in advance, // greetinngs from Sweden ,
Hello, I think you may be plugging the 3 in1 into the wrong outlet, it must be plugged into the black plug, it will then recognize itself without any selecting from your unit list if you must use the blue plug you have to purchase a 7 to 9 pin adapter.
@@gillchaser449 hi, thx 4 reply, its in the black connection, problem was that on settings/ transducer type, its was CH 1 by default, so i just switched to CH2 and there it was in grey 3 in 1, everything works wonders now, i see things in my harbor i didnt see before :) like a cage for crabs etc :P

You still have to purchase the 3D sonar hub and transducer to get 3D images while on the water. Turning “simulator” on simply puts the unit into a “demo mode”
Simulator mode and demo mode are two different things, I was simply putting the unit in sim mode to show it's capability with additional equipment (Sold separately) what it looks like.
So if you had the 3 in 1 transducer, you would need to change it and add the module? Or would you just need the module?
Lawerance Lanham, that is correct. The 3D structure Scan is an add on module and transducer for any Gen 3, Carbon, or HDS Live unit.
Gill, can you tell me how you were able to video your HDS screen and not get the distortion lines? When I try to do it i get discoloration and wavy lines on the video screen.
This is most likely due to your camera's wavelength and your units being too alike hence the lines, in my case, it just happened to work.

How can a person making a video decide whether all viewers will want or "need" 3d?
I was not attempting to decide for anyone, nor am I saying everyone needs it, I was demonstrating how it looks and watchers can decide for themselves if they want it or not.
Have new hds live and when I plug AI 3&1 transducer into channel 2 it will not bring up this transducer under sonar installation? It will on channel one but then I can’t use side scan? How do I get this to function properly so that I can use side scan, 2d and downscan?
I would suggest reading the manual that came with the unit so you have a better understanding of what it will and will not do, you should be plugging in the 3&1 into the Black plug for 2D DI and side imaging, it will work with 2D and Down Imaging only plugged into the blue plug.
I understand this. When I go to installation under sonar tab my 3&1 active imaging transducer is not there? The manual doesn’t tell you how to do any of this, my biggest complaint about Lowrance products. The transducer remains “unknown”? Why isn’t my transducers showing up there?
When plugged into the BLACK plug the unit will automatically recognize the 3&1 transducer it will not show on the list.
Gill Chaser I figured it out and you’re right. The problem was the unit was set up as channel 1. Now everything is set up on channel two and is working properly! So many settings that you have to turn on in the background, don’t really understand why. All is good though, thanks for your help and keep making videos!
@@spawnlawn9754 I am looking to purchase a HDS live 9, am I to assume that the black plug in is channel #2. If so the blue is channel 1, then is that the outlet one would use to hook up the ss2 3d transducer to have 3d imaging
I just bought Lowrance HDS live 7 and I dont think mine has the 3D image
It will produce 3D, it will require a transducer sold separately

@@danieltrott8600 To my knowledge I don’t think the new Live site or 3D transducer and electronics have been released as of yet for 2019, however I would think it will be very similar to the 3d equipment that is presently available for the carbon units. I.E. the 3D box and LSS 2 transducer. Although For me, I think I would wait to see what is released before buying because the new stuff could be that much better, why pay twice.
Really neat, question: why is there always a channel under the vessel. All of these videos show a channel under the boat?? Is everyone driving directly down the main channel? Is it a glitch in the down imaging and side imaging ? This does not seem like and accurate view of the bottom.
Although it is a 3D image, the channel is the blank spot that one would get with side imaging, directly below the transducer it is blank. Thanks.
Only the 12" & 16" are quad core. 7 & 9" are dual core. I purchased the same unit myself. Very nice.
