I Love Mononoke with all my soul, my favorite part about the series is how the co-protagonists are so flawed, they hide many parts of their being until the investigation to exorcize the Mononoke forces their flaws to come to the light. Thus, The first tale (the blonde pregnant lady one) along with the movie (the one made in 2024) being my least favorite and the last tale (the Bakeneko one) being my personal best, along with the form, the truth and the reason of the Mononoke the things i yearn most to be revealed are the flaws of the characters. I really dont like the Movie tho, even if its so fucking vissually stunning and i love the redising of the medicine seller, the Mononoke is shrouded in mystery from beggining to end, the movie doesnt have head or tails, well maybe half a tail in the form of the pale orange haired kinda gay woman, she is the most consistent and fully fleshed part of that story even if her fatal flaws were never revealed, she has a purpose and a goal and i really liked that. But The Mononoke doesnt have Form or Reason, maybe only Truth and that will always bother me.

And then you recommend "mononoke" to someone and the guy comes complaining the show has nothing to do with ghosts, instead is a girl using war paint mounting a wolf fighting demons. MC from mononoke also appears on the final story of ayakashi - japanese classic horror, which is actually his first appearance (ayakashi launched in 2006, mononoke in 2007).

Araki did NOT have to change them, it was a problem with the localization of the manga and anime, so the company that did the localization came up with non-copyrighted names, probably with help from Araki. So in Japan they’ll always will be Oingo Boingo brothers, so those are the canon names
