    I think this is a great video and information My GT6 has a TR6 engine, and after a hard run, definitely has a lot of heat buildup which it’s strangling to dissipate. Definitely will try this mod. I have already removed the inlet from the hot water system, as the only benefit is helping cold running and it’s detrimental to performance .

    I was able to disconnect the torsion bar to fix the corner bracket. But now I have a hard time torquing this bar/pipe back to slide both pipes into existing system. There are no videos on how to torque back this bar/pipe. I read about using c-clamps, but I disconnected the others pipes from torque one. Any ideas or steps on how to connect them back.

    • @richrocketlll
      @richrocketlll 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I am not sure how you have the parts apart. You might want to put them back together one at a time. Saving the corner bracket with rod for last. Its position in terms of rotation is a key part to it working as it should. Once its inserted then you twist to get the torque you need. After that I then clamped into place before bolting.

  • @clairjones9511

    Do you know if it’s possible to repair it without releasing the tension on the bars? Did you take the torsion apart to have more slack on the brackets?

    • @richrocketlll
      @richrocketlll ปีที่แล้ว

      With mine the brackets at the end of torsion bars went through the roof. I had to remove the bracket/ bar and old wood. Then when putting it back together I reset the tension. The torsion bar came out of the tube. It was somewhat difficult resetting the tension, then holding it and bolting the bracket to the wood again.

    I put solar on my camper, and an inverter. I made a power cord that plugs into the inverter, and it runs to the out of the camper to a plug-in I installed on the side of the camper that my shore power plug can go into. So, when I turn on the inverter the plug I installed outside will have 110 power to it. Then I plug my normal shore power plug into it, and my inverter then powers all the plug-ins in the camper.

    I just finished fixing mine yesterday. For extra strength. I took a 1 1/2× 1/8 × 82" aluminum strip, cut a channel in the wood for it to sit flush. All 3 bolts on each end go through the aluminum. I also put 4 self tapping screws along the aluminum to make sure it wouldn't buckle. It gave it alot more strength.

    • @richrocketlll
      @richrocketlll ปีที่แล้ว

      When I did mine a few years ago I also put an aluminum flat bar around the out side of the top. I didn't take the time to cut the channel into the wood. The repair has held up good and the top goes up and down easy. I did add two 100 watt solar panels up on the roof. Even with the added weight the lift works.

    It's specification is for 1100w draw so I think what they are doing is using the DC compressor with a speed controller that basically lets them run the compressor at any speed, and the blower at any speed. So if it doesn't need full capacity cooling, like it's just maintaining room temperature and keeping it there, it runs the compressor at a much lower speed. You can actually hear this happening. If you look at the temps graphed over time you also can see that in cooling mode it never cycles the compressor off and on like a normal AC. Instead it cools it to the set temperature, then the air gets warmer but still cooler than room temp, just cold enough to hold the room at that temp and it stays there for hours. A normal AC is on full blast, off, on full blast, off, and it cycles like that to keep the room within a range of temps, where the Midea just drops the temp, and holds it there rock steady. I love this thing.

    • @richrocketlll

      I am not sure of the PSI of cooling system. I can tell you for sure that plugging the hole down in pump put more water through the radiator. I have not had any problem at all with temps after I did this. If I had to do one mod to help with cooling this would be the one. Cutting the studs off that extend into circulation area of pump had to of increased flow also. I just had the TR6 out yesterday in 90 degree weather. Temps ran normal.

    Just FYI, the HECO lift was originally made by Harmony Enterprises in MN, who sold the lift system part of their business to Camper & Recreation Inc in WI, who basically just make some replacement parts. I found this out trying to track down parts for my camper, which is missing those corner brackets; finding them has proved nearly impossible, but they appear simple to make. Thanks for the video showing what it's supposed to look like. I think I'll end up putting 1/8" x2" steel plate across the back to connect the two sides.

    • @richrocketlll
      @richrocketlll 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info on who made the lift system. I did this repair back in late 2019. It has worked great since. It is a tough lift system. Keeping the water away from the corner wood/brackets is the key to it lasting and working for a long time. I have added some solar panels to the roof and it lifts the top right on up.

      If I remember right what I did was I used a pipe wrench on one side of bracket back side of camper pulling down. I put the pipe wrench on the bracket itself. Then when I got it down in the right position I clamped the other side of bracket to side board. All at same time. The cover siding was not attached to the boards yet, it was still pealed up. So I could clamp the bracket to the wood. I tapped the bracket lightly to get it where I wanted it, while it was still clamped. Then I screwed and bolted the bracket into place. It was not easy. Hi Richard, thank you for trying to show my BSA. How was Smokeout 20? In June I rode the BSA to Topeka, KS and saw over 700 women on motorcycles. And the bike hasn't been right since then. I'm working on it, though.

      Hi Cinthia, Smokeout 20 was good. Linda and I went. We had a blast. I was surprised to hear from you after so long. I posted the video some time ago. Hope you get the bike right. I'm working on a 1966 BSA b44. Linda said hi.

      @@richrocketlll Hi to Linda, too! I had seen the video soon after you posted it, but I didn't know how to comment. I don't know much about b44's. I think my bike's issues started when it got totally drenched in water. I've replaced almost every element of the electrical system. Anyway, it was so nice to see another BSA at Smokeout 19.

      @@cinthiawing8854 You know when I understood you had rode that hard tail as far as you did it took me back. I was very surprised. Its not something you see everyday. Old bikes are known to break down. On my b44 I have gone through the motor. Put it back in the bike. I had to rewire the whole bike. I am waiting on a clip for the carb. Then I will try to kick it over. So good to hear from you. Cheers.
