In January 2024 a Femoral Head Resection (right rear hip) was performed by a veterinarian on a dog for the Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue. After six months of recovery in a foster home, that dog (Lucy) was adopted by us in August 2024. Lucy is today doing very well, and her hip is as functional and free of pain as any other dog in the dog park.

We keep repeating the story that after she was hit by a car and left for dead in East Texas it took a small army of rescuers, veterinarians, fosters, volunteers, donors, and caregivers to get Lucy back to her happy self. She is the only dog we have had in the last 40 years that universally likes all other dogs and all people. I do think she may be the luckiest dog in the state!
