    Do you have to reprogram the TEHCM if you unplug it after you remove it from the tranny for cleaning? Or can you unplug it, clean it and plug it back in to put it all back together, and take it for a test drive?

    • @HVACRServiceTech
      @HVACRServiceTech 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MakeItGreatAgain55 good question. It would seem to me, and I could be wrong, NO. The only time that the TEHCM would need to be reset to learn again, would be if new clutch packs were installed, or if anything in the Hydraulic Circuit was disrupted such as the oil pump area, pumping vanes, etc... If you are cleaning the TEHCM and also replacing the Pressure Switches, I would be more concerned that YES, it would be smart to probably reprogram it. But just to remove and clean it like during partial fluid change(drain the pan and replace the measured lost oil with new fluid), I would feel fine with just a reassemble and test drive.

    • @MakeItGreatAgain55
      @MakeItGreatAgain55 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @HVACRServiceTech Thanks for the fast reply! I just did a filter change on a used GMC Denali XL with the 6L80. Check engine light said the 1 and 3 selonids are stuck open, causing shift problems. Simply changing the fluid with a new filter made a world of difference. It is very smooth shifting during the test drive, but now (3 days later), it read that all the selonoids are stuck open while driving the 10 miles into town. We pulled over and parked it for about two hours. When we went to pick it up, it started and drove perfectly and didn't need to trailer it home. Drove it today and it still seems fine but had a little hesitation going from 2 to 3rd. As a precaution, I'm going to change out the fluid and filter once more and clean the valve body and TEHCM as you did in the video before deciding if I need to do a complete rebuild on the tranny. Again, thanks for you time and great video, it helped me out!

    • @HVACRServiceTech
      @HVACRServiceTech 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MakeItGreatAgain55 no problem. Did you see my video on replacing the pressure switch films? I think that you should try to change them. I believe in the video that I uploaded, I included footage of me cleaning the actual switch contacts, under the Orange Films. If you haven't had any metal shavings appear on the magnet of the pan, I would wait a little bit before doing the overhaul and rebuild-unless you want to for the experience and it's worth it for you to. But if you're trying to avoid a rebuild, buy the kit off Amazon and change the 4 films, clean the contacts, when you do that cleaning. I'll find the right kit on Amazon and reply here with the link for you. And if the films are old anyways and still sealing, they're gonna fail soon anyways Better to change them now for many reason and the chance that it will fix your issue

    4L60E.. had a bad solenoid, replaced it.. removed the pan did the filter/gasket/seal maintenance.. I had no idea I needed to reset the adaptations until reading on many forums.. so I went on eBay and picked up this tool.. is there anything you need to do after the reset.. or only drive it..? Obviously I'll be taking it easy.

    • @Curtis1984
      @Curtis1984 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Worked out great. I did find the option to reset the adaptations. Shifts so much better. We'll see if it stays that way. My original issue was WOT would shift really late, and under easy driving it would almost skip 3rd and go right into OD.. the person before me must have drive this thing slow all the time. I would've reset anyway after a fluid change, but especially after testing the lock up solenoid was way below recommended OHM reading I decided to replace the part. Only $20 part. I'm very happy with the Foxwell tool. Same one in this video. I would do this reset before having a shop mess with it.. but atleast change the fluid/filter/seal/gasket.. as it says in the tool procedure before reset.. you must have changed some components. Take care y'all.

      I worked on a 4l60 once, but I did much more in-depth research on the 6L80. You should educate yourself on the sticker code and how they apply to the GM family. And that info will help you better understand if this can work. Seems the chances are good that they will because of the close year range and the fact that they would not have a TEHCM.

    Irritates me how long you spend feeling product in different cases, if you see 2 different circuits are warm go straight to the rack instead of wasting so much time. Hey, in case you didn’t know, that site has those check valves in place so if you ever have to isolate the cases you can do so safely without the risk of a rupture. The check valves are piped in parallel to the ball valve you allow the built up pressure to return to the system side without risking a blowout or rupture. Another site has special ball valves that look like they are just a ball valve but they have an internal check valve. Pretty neat stuff!

      @ the pressure build up in the case will rise because of the ambient temp. The type K copper will burst if the pressure is not released in time. The only instance we have had that i have heard of is a reach-in frozen food case that burst because the case was pumped down and isolated. This case was also divided from the adjacent cases and the case temp rose high enough to allow the trapped refrigerant to build up high enough to reach the burst point of the copper. The case temp most likely reached above 65 degree
