when the original was uploaded i didn’t understand shitposting enough to realize that this was a shitpost. can you even imagine that? i was so young, LOL! i’m 48
The last breath… before another 11 years of limbo. This mall really didn’t want to let go. Nice video, wish I could have visited!!!
This is not really a valid comparison since the lynx has hardware support for graphical effects the game gear couldn't dream of.
Yes and this video shows that it comes with a cost!
@@dark1x I read somewhere that the Lynx had virtually infinite sprites without flicker but at the cost of frame rate a-la Sega CD. But just like that machine it did indeed cost a pretty penny.
Wow thank you for this upload. This is the first time I've been able to see the Parachute Limit video in such high quality!
PS-TRIPLE.
"Daz boo-sheet."
Chad was probably that one kid at school that parties.. *Everyday*
Somehow I never realized until now that you’re the one who uploaded this HD version, John 😂
The man knows Warioware. This is educated hating.
Why he sounds like gabstalicious
Where’s the rest of it!!!
I like how this video is such a product of it's time, and yet many of the claims made still hold up. Xbox still doesn't have many games that justify it's existence, PlayStation is still ridiculously overpriced, and Nintendo consoles are STILL gimmicky messes with controllers that resemble sex toys.
This is an example of intentional disinformation, comparing Fat Bobby, one of the slowest Atari Lynx games to Donald no Magical World one of the fastest GG games . Atari Lynx was capable running at 74 frames per second and the games that do like Roadblasters and S.T.U.N. Runner show it out perform the Game Gear.
Well, this was very specifically made years ago as part of a discussion and without that context doesn’t make sense.
@@dark1x That 'discussion' I would have to assume pertained to 'Game Gear and Atari Lynx performance' since that is this videos title. Now it even makes less sense...
@@MitchellAzevedo-e3x Well it was specifically trying to demonstrate 60 fps versus lower frame-rates that we see on the Lynx. There aren’t any vintage Lynx games running at 60 fps, basically. It has many other amazing advantages though. This video is not meant to be a serious analysis. It was just a quick prop tossed together in 20 minutes. 😅
@@dark1x Your knowledge on the subjects of the Lynx and any valid frame rate analysis is suspect to say the least. Tell me, how many game Gear games out of 365 are running at 60 fps? Including Checkered Flag, I can named at least 3 out of 71 for the Atari Lynx. Me thinks the woman doth protest too much!
@@MitchellAzevedo-e3x Well, the Lynx doesn't refresh the screen in the traditional way. Checkered Flag isn't 60 fps. This isn't a knock, though. It's due to the unique blitter based design of the hardware. It is so fundamentally different from the Game Gear and other consoles of that era. The number of Game Gear titles running at 60 fps is actually extremely high - same for the Game Boy. Why? They feature bespoke hardware designed to scroll tiles around a screen at the refresh rate of the display. It's the same reason why something like a Commodore 64 can easily do 60 fps scrolling while much more powerful x86 386 based PCs of that era could not - they didn't have the hardware to perform this operation. The limit to tile based rasterization, though, is severe in terms of background complexity and tile arrangement. The Lynx, however, has its blitter or sprite engine which can basically draw whatever the heck you want within reason. It can scale, rotate and move stuff in ways that something like the Game Gear or Game Boy could never even dream of. That was its specific strength and it's amazing at it. The trade-off, however, is that it doesn't have the usual ability to accelerate or draw tile maps like other platforms so it was slower when trying to do those sorts of games. As a result, there aren't actually any period Lynx games that support 60 fps scrolling or update. Checkered Flag is, without a doubt, -NOT- 60 fps - I'm confused why you'd bring this up. This is a fact and, using our analysis tools, I could demonstrate this as well. The Lynx supports variable refresh rates on output, though, but it doesn't deliver this sort of update speed just due to how the hardware functions. Checkered Flag, by the way, is the game that we play every Jagfest in 8-player mode on real Lynx hardware. It's an awesome game (better than the Jag sequel) but it's not close to 60 fps at all. So, again, the point is not to 'knock' the Lynx - get rid of that fanboy mentality. It's simply to highlight a difference in how these machines function. I think it's super cool, actually. Both systems in this case were capable of very VERY different things and there was simply nothing else like the Lynx in the home console space at this time.
This might be John Linneman's most valuable contribution to the gaming space
What I’m trying to to say.. cmon now. Lmfaooooo
It looks somewhat janky and jadged aswell, not to mention unrealistic. Look at driveclub, that game will be 10 years old, the dynamic headlight shadows in that game are spectacular.

Chad needs to come back and redeem Sony's reputation.
Idk about y'all but in middle school and high school we all had a guy like Chad Warden, this little mexican kid with slicked back hair. Wasnt the biggest, would probably get smoked in a real fight, but had a mouth and massive ego to compensate lol
He sounds like a killer bean character
This Awesome
More than 16 years later and any PS console still have *no games* 😢

PS5 Pro announcement hits with nostalgia ❤
Here after PS5 Pro announcement
Chad Warden would be proud of the PS5 Pro especially with it's $699 price tag and last he wipes his ass with 700 💸
$700 ain't shit to Chad Warden.
First thing I thought of when they revealed the price
People are tryna say that the PS5 Pro costs too much? What kind of cardboard box are these gamers living in?
Chad warden wipes his ass with 700$
Astro Bo-utta run up on a n-
Needs to come back with $700 wipes for the PS5 Pro!!!
Wait, I was watching this whole thing through and right at the end this was actually made by John himself. Spectacular.

-John

Hi John, can You make burnout df retro episode please. Thanks for great work!
Is that the fabled Retrotink between your 3do and xbox?
That's not how the Retrotink looks. This looks more like a component switch to me (gcomp?)
John, you should check Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere on PS1 (Japanese Version) Or maybe Parasite Eve, very underrated game from squaresoft.
