    Hey Scott!! I recently bought a Pearson 33-2 and my boat has almost exactly the same list as yours from the survey with Matt. Would love to just chat about the boat and bounce ideas off each other.

    I'm currently looking at a 1987 P33-2 CB model. One of the requirements for whatever I end up with is a solid fiberglass hull (no core). I haven't been able to determine whether Pearson cored their hulls or not. Do you know where I can find this information, year and model specific? Thanks.

    Good day, Scott and thank you for sharing with us sailors and aspiring sailors. Do you have an episode where you breakdown the maintenance costs by quarter or season ? My sailing experience comes from my military service in the US Navy onboard the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19; as an aspiring sailboat owner, I often think about how much does it cost to keep a sailboat. I am new to your channel and enjoy it so far…please guide me to an episode if already produced. Thank you in advance

    • @scottflicksailing5275
      @scottflicksailing5275 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, thank you for your service in the military Joseph. Unfortunately I do not have a breakdown on the maintenance but I know SV Delos does a few videos breaking down the cost of annual maintenance. My annual cost including boat payment, slip rental, haul out, Shrink wrap and winter storage is around $8000 a season. Maintenance varies year to year so that’s a flexible number. Sails ar a lot more then a oil change as an example. Good luck with your search, and take your time and figure out what you want before you purchase it. If you buy a used boat in mint condition it will cost more but you’ll be ready to sail. If you prefer to buy the exact same boat with less amenities, And in worse condition you can slowly build it back up to great condition. Make sure the hall and the decks are dry and unless you’re really good at working on diesel engines, but the engine is in good shape. I personally think those are the most important things when purchasing a used boat. Everything else can be fixed or added as you go. Again, this is just my opinion and there are many opinions out there. Thank you again for watching my channel. Fairwinds and following seas.

    I just took possession a 1979 Hunter Cherubini 37C. Hull #11. She was in dire need of rescuing. I've been cleaning her out for the past 3 weeks and now have started digging into the renovation for real. Looks like she sank at some point, probably at the dock. There's a lot of dirty debris in the bilge. Probably the same under the sole. Needs a new sole. Otherwise the interior is in good shape. The running rigging is a complete puzzle to me. Has new sails and 700 hours on a replacement engine. I knew about this boat model so I jumped when I had the chance. Sure wish I was slipped next to Noel. I'd be asking him a bunch of questions ...

    • @scottflicksailing5275
      @scottflicksailing5275 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look up your boat on Facebook. Noel started a page just for your boat. Let me know if you don’t find it and you can PM me on Facebook and I will get you to in touch. Set luck with your new boat. Noel has done a ton of renovations on his since this boat tour. He’s very knowledgeable about this model.

    Scott, where do you find information on the Pearson Boats. I've got a 31-2 and need to replace the portlights but can't identify who manufactured the original portlights to find replacements. Also have an issue with a plate on the mast that stops the slides from popping out. Thanks

    • @scottflicksailing5275
      @scottflicksailing5275 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Second Wind When I replace the windows on my 28-2 I kept the framework and replace the glass. I would join the group Pearson yachts. It’s a private group but if you ask to join I’m sure you’ll be able to. As far as the sail gate on the mast, mine was missing when I bought my 33-2 and I ordered it from www.rigrite.com/Spars/MetalMast_Spars/MetalMast_Mainsail_Gates.php#MM Hinged Sail Gates options... I started a group specifically designed for P 33-2 owners which has been great. There are many sailors much more knowledgeable than myself on the page and it’s a great way to talk to people with your specific model. I hope this helps.

    • @WorldWideMoose
      @WorldWideMoose 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply Scott. I live north of Ann Arbor outside of Pinckney. I prefer Anchor Pointe to Toledo Beach - it's a better value, and worth the extra drive. If you're wanting to monetize the channel, you know the answer, sail to PIB every other weekend, strap a go-pro to your chest, and make the blog all about bikinis. What I liked about your videos was your direct, honest style; you show people what it's really like to own a boat on the Great Lakes, and I'm hoping you show more of the Western Basin as most folks think Lake Erie is a polluted sewage canal when, in fact, it's a really nice place to boat. My beater boat is a go-fast, perhaps this season I can help get you some sailing footage as an excuse to burn some fuel ;-)

    • @scottflicksailing5275
      @scottflicksailing5275 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alan Robbins You’re right, the difference between me having the girls in bikinis or not really affects the number of views. Like I said in my first episode, I really want to show PIB and some of the other islands and definitely plan to do that this year. And of course, there will be some bikinis. Stay in touch, we will definitely meet up somewhere this summer. Thanks again Alan.

    You should consider removing your thermostat before running the AF through your engine. If not, the thermostat will not be open as the engine is not warm enough to open the thermostat and the AF will bypass the engine and out the exhaust.

    Scott, why don’t you store your boat inside at your marina?

    • @scottflicksailing5275
      @scottflicksailing5275 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glenn Clark It’s over $1200 to store the boat inside not to mention $300 each direction for my mast. It’s just not cost-effective. I’d be better off to have a cover made it will pay for itself in a few short years

    Thanks for the vid. It's fun to see the different things that need fixing on various boats. A word on shooting video... You might think about widening your angle, or moving slower. A wider angle will reduce the motion sickness of your viewers, and make it easy to see the items you're pointing at. Or, you can get a tripod, set the camera further back, and stand in front of it. Then you can just point at stuff and talk... My two cents. Take it or leave it. 😊👍🏻

      Dutch Flats, according to sold boats .com, which tells what all the 28-2's sold for on yacht world and boats.com, the going rate was as low as 13 and is high as around 18. Most people ask 18,9 or so. I wanted mine to sell so I listed it for 17. I ended up selling it for 15. I wanted to sell fast and the buyer paid 3000 to ship the boat to Wisconsin. Good luck. I just got the 33-2 and I am extremely pleased with the extra 5 feet. You get a lot more displacement, and a very comfortable interior. Although, I was fine with the interior of the 28-2.
