what model of K&N airfilter is this?

Curious to know if you put that single pod in because the space allowance. was that the case or could you have easily installed 4 independent pods in.

Nice build but spoke wheels is a must on a cafe racer. Look at history of a cafe racer.

It's nice that you showed us WHAT can be done with the GS550. But, even better, would have been a video or videos showing us HOW you did the work.

Really nice build. I've got an 81 550T as well. Will be rebuilding it soon. Hoping to put on a 650 top end and block etc. Is the jet kit the one for the 550M? What coils and leads are you running? By the way man, this is one of the best, if not the best, GS550 build I've seen.

What kind of paint did You use for engine? You are pro! Bike is like new and has got soul.

Where did you get the air filter? Is it a quad inlet with a single element?

What size did you have to re-jet to, with that air filter, and has it given you any trouble? They say those CV carbs have a hard time with anything but the stock filter.

What are you running for jets on this? I recently purchased the same K&N filters for my 81 GS550L, and am working on building new exhaust for it currently (4 into 2, using stock headers with mechanical baffle mufflers) Just trying to get an idea of where I should be, before I order a bunch of jets that I wont need. Thanks in advance

Nice job. I have a 78 and it's all original now but after 3 years of riding it daily I think I'm ready to cafe it out. Thanks for the ideas.

sorry its a great build and 6 speed if i remember .. everyone into hondas so you did somthing real spl....try a 550 katana tank bolts on with a TT shape + 5gals gas

Fantastic stuff, I have just read through your build on the forum. I have bought a 1981 gs550e off eBay and started chopping. If you don't mind me asking, what jets did you use in the carbs, this is something I still need to face. Thanks jason

Beautiful work, though I would have been tempted to upgrade the brakes to something a bit more modern.
