Yes, “loss of station” is a sign of uterine rupture. I have walked into the home of a laboring woman and we couldn’t find the heartbeat. She was a thinner woman who had a cesarean with her first birth and then 3 VBACs. I could see a lump in the lower left quadrant of her abdomen and the other midwife couldn’t feel the baby’s head with vaginal exam. There was no bleeding but her uterus had ruptured and her baby had passed. A terrible but valuable experience for the midwives present.
I’m a midwife too and know that when I am anxious for reasons I can’t immediately identify, there is almost always a reason and I need to be very attentive. You did an excellent job and I appreciate this story so much.
Very informative.
what was your scar thickness
You think I should try verginal after 2 c sections
39 & 5 hoping for VBAC with 6 years gap. My hospital is super supportive of being able to have the birth you want which is amazing but they won’t give me a certain yes/no as to whether they would recommend an induction in my case. I have 1 more week to make my own decision so doing all the research I can on VBAC’s and rupture and induction methods. Thank you so much for this video, definitely one of the more positive rupture stories I’ve heard ❤
How did it go??
was she induced and what type of induction she had?
Anyway i ended up crying lol...gurl i wouldve told her to piss off !!!
Thanks you really helped me a lot.
I hope you see this and can give me some insight.. I’ve had 3 babies, all vaginally. My second one, I could tell the top of my uterus was very weak (you could push on my belly and there seemed to be no muscle at the top at all). This caused a huge amount of pain for me in the area of weakness. My third delivery was just 2-3 months ago and the pain was in the same spot but even worse. During delivery, everyone in the room heard a “pop” and I felt it my uterus. Ever since, things have not been normal. I’m still cramping and having full pain in my uterus 3 months later… I’m having random days of bloody discharge. I have seen NO info on this anywhere and my dr seems clueless. Did my uterus rupture during delivery? If so, am I supposed to have surgery to fix it or what should I do?
Are you survive with this or what?
This is what happened to me with the delivery of my 3rd child. I’m so glad I was in the hospital when this happened because if I were at home, we wouldn’t have made it. We live 30 minutes away from the hospital.
Did you have another baby after uterine rupture. I had uterine rupture with my second one (second C-SECTION) and I desperately want another baby 😢
Hi Ruby. No. I haven’t. But then again I haven’t been trying to. My baby is only 9mon
@@rubykharel541 I had same..doctor told me to wait for 2 years gap
Was she induced with pitocin?
So you mean its just okay starting with direct midwifery or you firstly have to do Registered Nursing???? I really want to do direct midwifery though I don't really have proper information about the difference between the two
Poor lady. Glad she was ok after. I have been very fortunate to have had 3 successful vabacs after a c section.
Hey Tylah, im been going through soo much in my second year. I had a very hard midwife as my supervisor. And she told my CPF that she doesn't feel confident in my progress as a second year. I have made many concerns to my CPF about my supervisor ways of teaching and others students who have previously worked with her has also disclosed her poor teaching skills. I have also been given an hard assessor as well which has refused several times to sign off my placement summative. I have told other student midwives the questions my assessor asks me and they were shocked and reported i have been treated unfairly. Other student disclosed their assessors would give still give them a good grade if they didn't know the answer but my assessor just doesn't sign anything. As this point im not what sure to do because my Mentor and CPF hasn't been supportive at all to meet my education and support needs
I’m 6 weeks pregnant and 5 months PP of c section I’ve only had one c section what’s my risks?? Are they very high?
I got pregnant about 6 months after my first child which was c section. I had a natural vaginal labor and delivery with no epidural or medicine of any kind. Right after I pushed her out my midwife noticed I had ruptured.. I did everything I could to avoid it and it happened it me:/ but still chances are low. I guess my scar wasn’t strong enough
@@jordanivester6953 were you in hospital when this happened? Were you rushed to the OR and given a similar surgery to a C section?
@@CitricLemon92 yes I was in hospital. Got there at 6 centimeters and dilated to 10 pretty quickly. Then pushed her out and ruptured after. Midwife called a doctor in and they did ultrasound to see the rupture they were calm and came in and told me what happened and made me sign a paper and rolled me back into surgery. They went in through my c section scar, so it was basically just like a c section . Recover was hard. Still don’t know how long is safe to wait to get pregnant again, or if I even should. It’s unpredictable really 1% is pretty low. But i do think since my pregnancy was so soon after my first c section my scar didn’t have time to heal properly… I also had a 10.2 pound baby… which I’m sure added pressure. Lol looking back since I was only 6 months pp I wish I would have just had another c section .
@@jordanivester6953 we’re you given Pitocin to get you to 10?
@@CitricLemon92 no no medicine at all. Everything I did natural
It's terrifying. I had this happen 3 weeks ago,I had gas and air for 12 hours then when they put a monitor clip on my baby boys head inside I got a huge amount of pain and I knew it wasn't contractions at this point. They had 7 minutes to get my baby boy out or he would have suffocated. Thank God and the team I had working on my son and I,he just needed to be in an oxygen bed for an hour and he and I where ok. My organs where apparently all stuck together as well so it took them 2 hours from start to finish to do the operation. Just knowing my baby boy was safe and well was the biggest relief ever! It is very traumatic, but a blessing that it was caught quickly enough to save my sweet son 😊❤
Does the midwifery course inlolve maths
Hi
This is really helpful. What are your thoughts- for a newgrad- would you say a grad job in a tertiary hospital would be best? For learning etc?
You are so incredible! I wish I knew about you when I was pregnant! Xx
Hey tylah 🙌 it's nice to see you again after long time ^-^ God bless you and bless your family ❤ love from Morocco *
Hii what is reason your uterine rapture
It’s not "just a miscommunication” to treat someone like this. Bully ass biches. They would hate me because I would say something right back on the spot. No crying in the bathroom for me. I would tell her felt out to get the f-ck over herself and if she has a problem and she can’t maintain a level of emotional stability - then she probably shouldn’t be working around birthing women, should she? Period. Go meditate and get a grip of yourself or get off the labor ward. These are the type of beastly emotional terrorists that are causing birth trauma to our world’s women. LIKE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WITH THAT SHITE. Just because you have been a midwife for years and years, that does NOT give you the right to treat students badly. Not even a little bit. It’s cowardly and shows a lack of integrity and respect for birth. That is not a midwife.
You inspired me to become a midiwfe. On my journey to be a Doula and then a Midwife. So exciting! Love your videos. I constantly rewatch them. 💖
Get her there quickly??? You took a long time checking her and then the doctor checked....wow.
What do you mean palpating the contractions?? Were you pressing on her uterus during contractions?? They did an African study where they do this regularly and that can cause a rupture.
Thank you for this video. This is what happened to me a few days before my 2nd planned cesarean. Early contractions theough the night and consequently a cesarean in the morning but no emergency cesarean as the hospital staff was oblivious of what was going on inside me. The rupture of 8 cm was discovered during c-section. We were so lucky. Baby and I were safe. Baby had some trouble breathing and swallowed meconium and spent three days in NICU. It could have gone terribly wrong.
Which is better epidural or water injection
Nooooo vbacs EVER....😩
what?
I can relate to what you have said by 100% 🙈
That shine you had when you describe your first delivery is the thing that i feel about midwifery such satisfactory feeling 😍😍😍😍🥺
I'm a cardiothoracic surgery NP who had a stillbirth at 33 weeks a little less than a month ago. My OBs I knew socially and professionally for years before becoming their patient. They were shocked and super excited for us when we became pregnant spontaneously after multiple failed IVF transfers, and they were crying along with me when we discovered my son had died. Please don't feel like you have to "keep it together" for the sake of the mom. I know we're taught to not cry in order to maintain professionalism, and that crying will undermine the patient's confidence in us. It really meant a lot to me to see that my nurses and OBs were sad and upset for me. Having a stillbirth is so lonely; you're in L&D with crying babies around you, and everyone else is happy. It's incredibly comforting to have the people caring for you share in your sorrow.
Get on with it
Love you so much from morocco i wish you good life for you and your family God bless you ❤
How much of the interview was based on clinical scenarios? I have my first job interview next week and I always stutter and forget things when I’m asked hypotheticals 😩
I love a good q&a 😍 I would love to know how to read the yellow card - there are so many abbreviations I don't understand 🙈 And how in the world do midwives feel what position baby is laying in just by feeling a woman's belly? 😅 xo
Wondering what your timetable looked like when you were at uni? 🤔
Thank you for sharing this story and useful information! I LOVED this video💗

Thank you so much. This was great.
NZ Midwifery Council requires 25 follow throughs, all of which must be normal vaginal births :P Interesting to see how specifications differ throughout the world.
Excellent 😀 so glad you seem to have found meaning in your work.
I'm a first year student and currently doing placement at a private hospital (qld). I'm having Yeovil worth getting any real experience (VEs, accouchers, third stage management) as obstetricians do these. Have you worked alongside obstetricians? Can you provide me any tips on getting experience in this placement? Are there certain ways I won't annoy them by asking?
Ive just recently found your channel. I love it. Im a mum of four (10, 4, 3 and 1) and am just finishing my first year of my bachelor of midwifery. I'm already starting to worry about getting a graduate job in two years and wondering if you have any tips?
I already have a deep appreciation for my midwives. I have only went to midwife run birthing centers and I am pregnant with my third. I LOVE you powerful, giving, and nurturing women. Please know you are appreciated and irreplaceable. Every last one of you are.
