    This is a beautiful film. As a diver, I was thrilled to discover today that Tasmania has giant kelp forests. Thrilled for about 5 minutes. I then found out that the latest news is that these forests have all but disappeared. This is sad news indeed, and likely just the beginning of the devastation climate change will cause to ecosystems around the world.

    people get full of pride about advances in science, but no one speaks of how the world is being destroyed by those very same advances. They speak of co2 emissions and green house gases, but its not car pollution rather livestock that produce the most co2 methane emissions. (found that one hard to believe but its true) The upper layers of our atmosphere is not affected by neither cars nor cows rather the tens of thousands of planes that fly every day world wide, something analyst tend not to mention. People have high hopes of venturing into the stars and colonizing Mars. But what good is settling on another planet when you cant even get it right on earth. Its well known that the earth would flourish without man. So why cant man live in harmony with the earth? Man calls himself intelligent over all living creatures on the earth, but those creatures live and flourish without man and without any of mans technologies. Man seeks shelter from the harshest weather, but never once considers that the animals endure it all every season. and still theirs so many people that are so caught up in selfishness and greed, that they will readily see the world burn before hindering their means of financial growth and power.

    It is also disappearing in California. The Seadragons here in Tasmania are disappearing too. - Water temperature on Bruny Island is not warmer, but near the shore the Macrocystis is growing where the water temp. is warmer?

    if, and only if this is a cyclical climate event, the kelp will re-emerge in cooler water as will most of the life that accompanies these forests. If this climate event shift is pollution and man-driven, a re-emergence may be far off. There are many ancient reefs that are no longer. Remnants of past climate cycles give proof that earth does recover and restore over the aeons.

    • @harrisonv9791
      @harrisonv9791 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hasn't got many option is Tasmania. It cannot shift south you see.... Additionally.... yes we see ecosystems shift, and slowly adapt to a gradually changing climate in the past, but the climate change that Earth is currently experiencing is at a rate far far greater than that of standard climatic cycles... therefore instead of a slow adjustment and recovery, we are going to see mass extinction and new species emerging (given several million years to evolve)... several million years..... It's not all bad news though, scientist the world over have many great solutions!

    • @CurveLearningNatures
      @CurveLearningNatures 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      agreement in your words...we as humans do not understand what earth is capable of nor do we understand the nature of climate throughout time. no matter how many scientists try to explain their theories, they are just theories and our ability to know what has happened before is very limited. Life has amazing adaptive abilities.

    • @temperaterainforest5857
      @temperaterainforest5857 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If? What do you mean if? Humans are well enough versed in the natural world to know that pumping insane amounts of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere will cause severe changes in climatic conditions. Earth's climate is cyclical anyway, but as you say, we can see from the ice record that it is not normal nor 'natural' for the Earth to be warming this quickly. That's not to say there's no hope though. Start doing meatless Mondays, eat less farmed fish, don't eat threatened species, conserve energy, install a solar panel, buy environmentally responsible products. You can make a difference, however small. The fate of some of the world's most pristine ecosystems will be decided in a few decades at most. Hopefully we can ween ourselves off of fossil fuels in time!

      what happens when you MICROWAVE your food? What happens when you MICROWAVE a planet? Your body? 24/7? Did you know wi-fi / bluetooth is the same kind of energy as a microwave oven? It's the same frequency, just lower power - but prolonged. 2.4 Ghz. What about other microwave sources? If a microwave cooks your food by heating up / evaporating water, what are the side effects of all the cell towers, cell antennas, satellites, wi-fi routers spewing out microwave radiation? Does the air become drier from evaporated water molecules? Then what happens? Do wind patterns change? What is wind? Do enquiring minds want to know?
