Ahhh sorry it’s on the description now!!
Holidays seem a lot more expensive this year, we had a look at a haven caravan holiday this year in a caravan park thats not too far from me and it was almost £1500 for a week 🫣 I personally dont think it was worth that price so didnt book it
So expensive wow!!!
Going away in just over a week to Majorca has a family of 10, me my husband, 2 adult daughters, partners and 4 grandchildren age 9, 6, 5 and 2 years none of the kids have been abroad before so very exciting.Didn't have a clue how much it was going to cost so bit of a shock £10,600 for all inclusive looks lovely with great pools for the kids, so hopefully wont be disappointed.your right about the hidden cost all needed new passports, cattery, dog sitter, clothes, the list is endless but bear this in mind in the future. Thanks for your blog very informative, we are aiming to spend as little as possible.
Holy moly that’s a lot but it sounds like you’re all going to make priceless memories so I’m excited for you!
Thank you for sharing, I agree the prices have gone through the roof!
Thanks for stopping to chat! It’s definitely not cheap!!
We are doing UK holidays this year cos we have just moved house but we have got a Greece holiday booked for first week in May next year. 2 adults and a 2 year old, self catering for a week in 2 bedroom apartment cost £1224. The additional cost we have to factor in is paying for nursery cos we still pay even if she is not attending.
This is a great price - I am lucky my nursery gives us 2 weeks pro rata at 50% fees but that seems to be unusual!
I think it's very expensive for a week. We usually go to Turkey and that's gone very expensive for self catering. I'm looking at last minute all inclusive, but my kids are 36 and 40 so they pay for themselves. Hope you all have a lovely time 🥰
I keep seeing loads of people in amazing all inclusives in turkey but I think it might be too hot for us over there? What’s your experience?
Fellow “almost booked a flight home early” parent 😂
Solidarity 👊 😂
This was really good. Thank you. We are a family of 3. Still in nursery so we go away out of peak season until next year. Still costs 1500 ish plus all the extras. So generally spend 2000. Like you we save all year as we value holidays over other things. Our next trip is Madeira which is a lovely family holiday too. Any tips for the fight? How to entertain a 3 year old? Hope you had a lovely time xx
Thanks for stopping to chat!! I’ve been to Porto Santo which is a little island next to Madeira but not Madeira itself, my kids are not easily entertained so we download stuff on Netflix so it works offline, colouring books and sticker books are our best successes!
@@MortgageFreeLeigh Oh lovely! Would love to go there. Thanks for the tips! x
Very clear video..thank you... One thing to take away in end was most useful
Fab - glad you liked it!
Making money ideas please for the average person.
I can do that 100% Sign up offers in this one are deffo one and for referrals I always refer my dad and husband to everything to get the bonuses but I’ll do more!
😊planning to have a baby for 2025. Myself and my partner work full time 37.5 hours a week each would we still be entitled to it/ would there be spaces?
Ok so you should entitled providing neither of you is individually earning over £100k (not together, separately) - I’d make some nursery enquiries whilst pregnant to be honest and get on the waiting list for your first choice (I signed up whilst pregnant second time) you can check eligibility on the funding choices or government website (assuming you’re in England)
More money making ideas please 🙏 do you have any knowledge on selling downloads on Etsy? x
Will do! I don’t have experience with it personally but it’s something I might try and report back on?
Enjoyed the content. x

My budget for food is £120 my everything else budget is £30 and that does include hair dye, £12 a week bus ticket and I've been trying to eat more fresh fruit and veg and trying new things.
That’s great! Love hearing about other peoples budgets!
Tesco noodles 35p quick and easy lunch when I can't be bothered....which is often 😂
I literally love noodles for lunch ❤️
We do a full total budget. So £700 for the month for 2 adults and 3 children. Seems a lot but includes all bath stuff, cleaning supplies, pull ups etc also :)
How old are your kids out of curiosity? The household stuff definitely adds up!!

Another great video. We almost got a glimpse of your little boy. Would be lovely if you introduced him, your daughter and husband too. Seems like we'd know you as a family 😍😍
Ahhh thank you! I know - it’s hard because I want to share but I also want to protect the kids from the internet y’know? ❤️
We just have a ‘grocery’ budget, £450 a month 3adults 1 child, 1 cat, like you, this includes all household stuff & toiletries x
I’m glad it’s not just me because sometimes I think we’ve spent too much on food but it wasn’t all food?
@@MortgageFreeLeigh yep 👍🏼 think we’re doing pretty good aren’t we 🤩 We have a totally separate debit card for groceries, so just easier, as all our household, toiletries we buy in supermarket too x
These videos are so interesting
Thanks!
Most of our food shop is husband snacks tbh. We need to eat better too. Budget meal we make often is tomato pasta, we mix sliced southern fried chicken goujons into it but you could use a Quorn version. In terms of work lunches I find for me I make a batch of something and have it for the week so I dont have to think. Latest one is rice, veg, satay sauce (technically a dipping one from Aldi but I water it down) and I add chicken in (could use any substitute or just extra veg) it's delicious :)
Ohhh that sounds nice!! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️
Great video. You’ve inspired me to do a meal plan and Aldi shop today, we’re a family of 4 with a 1 and a 2 year old. Most of our food shop is kids snacks 😂
Ahh thanks for stopping by to chat! I do love an Aldi shop but I definitely find that planning is the key to keeping it under control!
Love how realistic & true to yourself you are, I would love to start a TH-cam channel , but scared of looking like a plonker ! 😅x
Ahhhh thank you I guess my thoughts were that there are lots of people making the ‘pretty’ and aspirational content so maybe there was room for some realism 😂
Im 23 and forgetting my pets food. Spend 80 a week on myself. Ruthless
It’s more expensive to buy for one person! Singles tax isn’t it!!
@MortgageFreeLeigh It is. I buy what I can in bulk like household items. Amazon is a life saver to the new and last generations for this. I'm type 1 diabetic so food is a massive element to keeping me healthy. I think one thing we probably all need to start doing is making our own foods. It's terrifying too imagine 1 month without deliveries and how we would all survive it could go too shit soo quick
I am 56 single I cook a stew or roast meal prep it for week porridge breakfast sandwich fruit lunch $80 not including three cats food household items
Sorry if you’ve done one already but a video specifically on apps would be good. I’ve got Shopmium but it’s naff TBH so a comparison between them would be good. Made about £100 from Shoppix since I’ve had it, loads of loyalty apps have made me some money too but would be good to know if I’m missing any!
Cottage cheese is high protein and super cheap! I appreciate its not to everyone’s taste, my husband hates it! 😂x
Ohhh yes we’re the other way round I can’t get on with it but the husband loves it!
Great video! A good reminder to me about intentional spending and spending on the things that bring value to our life. Think we're similar to you in that we are in a very fortunate place where we don't have to count every penny...but it's so easy to waste money on things that add no value whatsoever and then not have the money for the things that bring real joy and impact on our lives.
Thank you ❤️ and thanks so much for your comment, yes totally just because we can afford it doesn’t mean it’s worth it or we should!
Congratulations on sticking to your food shop. Great to see your intentional spending, i have been working on that myself this year too! It is hard with children too because you do want to give them the world! But yes it's important to teach them that happiness can come not only from stuff! My almost 3 year old has just started asking for everything and anything for her birthday 😅 . Looking forward to seeing how the rest of your month goes and wishing you luck 🤞 X
Ahhh thanks for stopping to chat! The food budget has been my absolute nemesis so it’s been a really big effort to try and get it under control - fingers crossed for the rest of the month!
Hello and sorry to hear your struggles with time. My suugestion is that for us back in the day - only one of us would do the big weekly food shop, using a list while the other parent stayed home with the children. Supermarkets just are not fun for little children - I recall it being better once they got older and could help with fetching some of the list items. Do you and your hubby ever get to go on a date together leaving a babysitter at home for a couple of hours? Then you get out of the house to relax a bit and have a good chinwag about everything. Just a couple of thoughts from a mum now grandma. X
Awww thanks for the lovely message - we did just start this year getting a babysitter so that’s been good! Yes totally agree we rarely take the kids to the shop but actually I love the idea of sending my daughter on a mission to get an item!!
Getting a gift card to force you to budget is such a good idea! Also the switch from Sainsbury's to Lidl has saved me soooooooo much money!
I need to try Lidl but I hate change 🥲 I do love sainsos for a ‘fancy’ shop though
Poor weather last year means less olive oil
So I believe!!
Fish is meat???
She says she’s a pescatarian, someone who eats fish but not other meats
Yes I’m pescatarian so I eat fish but not meat - if I could I’d be vegan but I struggle with it for practicality and my iron is low.
Fish is still meat
@@valwestwood8616 hence why I said “other meats”
@@valwestwood8616 I’m pescatarian as I say in the video
Well that's a boring video
Made ya comment though, didn’t it? What a strange use of your limited time on earth.
My version of kedgeree - fried onion, rice, smoked haddock in a cheese sauce - make the sauce from milk you poached the fish in - mix all together - amazing!
Ohhhh this sounds fab!!!
@@MortgageFreeLeigh it’s lovely I forgot to mention I add hard boiled eggs too x
Toddler tower - best thing we ever bought! Frees up your hands for little ones and means my 4 year old can comfortably stand and help
I think I need to invest!!
I have got one of the toddler towers. I wouldn't say it's a budget one (I think it was £169.99) but it can be reconfigured into a table and chair too. Got it for my daughters first birthday and use it daily so well worthwhile. I can send you the link if you like :) I shop weekly. I make a vegetable and quinoa curry in the slow cooker. Ingredient wise it's quinoa, sweet potato, brocolli, coconut milk, tomatoes and curry powder so doesn't take a lot of ingredients and makes loads :)
It depends on what you get. Somethings are not cheaper and can be caught out if VAT not already added from my experience. Hard not to be tempted by stuff you don't need 😅❤
Yes the VAT thing is weird to me as a Brit! We’re not used to prices without VAT
Hi Leigh. Well done tackling the kitche. If it were me clearing the drawer with the utensils etc I would get a cutlery liner tray for the drawer and keep all the slotted spoons, fish slices, wooden spoons together. And yes! Do have both metal and non stick utensils so you don't scratch frying pans, air fryer trays or anything non stick. I bought some Curver boxes in The Range in the past to put bakery cutters, cake cases, cocktail sticks, baking beans etc all together in one place. They fit great on the shelves. Finally foil, bags, clingfilm, greaseproof - could you spare a drawer just for them maybe? Best wishes.
Ohhhh this is really great advice thanks so much!
