Dodge Ram Heater Core Flush
My 2009 Dodge Ram has been blowing warmish air for a few weeks now. This video I'll be flushing the heater core in attempt to restore maximum heat. I also will be flushing the entire cooling system and replacing the thermostat and then refilling with new antifreeze. Lastly, I'll be installing a new blend door actuator since the current one sounds as if it has stripped gears when operating.

Everything is on point, but PLEEEEEEASE, folks…use an approved flushing liquid. Check your manufacturer’s recommendation.
Having same issue thanks for the help and video
What is the part number on the float
@@phillipirby6995 1395-8673 and I ordered from Crowley Marine. My floats were stamped with WMK-35 on them.
If you want. Video on how to do this wrong, this is it. Look up the instructions, and put them on here. Why say 'I am by no means a n expert' and then continue making the video? This is over at that point, and should not be produced. Any idea what Ford says to do? No? I didn't see one manual pulled out for guidance, just a guess. I cant...how...
Wow eres un genio 😮😮😮
You spend WAY to much time on everything else. 6 min later you finally start. I just move on
Nice vid. Really wanted to see Clutch Release Arm being clipped onto clutch Release Arm Bracket/fulcrum/pivot. But magic happened instead.
This heater core still holding strong? About to do my 2018 Cummins with IRON-TITE flush... Ridiculous... So mad that it's not accessible... Nice video!
us new guys need to see everything. like which heater core hose did you pour the clr in? you about to have me put clr in the wrong hose man.lol
Why didn't you replace heater core?
I have the same engine. Im having issues. I just rebuilt all 3 carbs because they were pouring fuel out while running. Rebuilt the carbs. Same issue. Pouring fuel out. Any help greatly appreciated
Can you ease tell me the name of the last part you put under the dash , ? Thank you Great Video
Sweet Eng
Not interested in seeing your complete vehicle or time lapse video. We are all busy. Get to the point. You don't show how you removed the caliper. You don't show removing pistons and dust boots.
I got to 1:31 when you said "you got told alumin(i)um is very finnicky to weld"... I've got 4 different AUSTRALIAN Aircraft Maintenance Engineer quals... So let me tell you this bro. Drop your welder... He's full of it. The CORRECT aluminium alloys specifically alloyed for welding, weld brilliantly. I just noticed your video is 5 years old... sorry, it seems I've closed the gate after the horse has bolted. :-/
what is the small port right in the centre of the gasket/manifold about?
Do you a video on replacing the mode door? It click whenever changing to vent, floor, defrost, etc...
Definitely sounds like mine
Great video and very helpful. I am just doing a clutch on a 1967 Shelby gt350, the one that was in there was totally destroyed. Knowing the value of the vehicle it's good to see somebody doing the job before I go and do something silly.
CLR eats aluminum worst thing you can do………..read the back of the CLR BOTTLE
I have heat on my passenger side, but not my driver side. I've replaced all 5 of my blend door actuators flushed out my coolant. I occasionally get heat at higher rpm on the driver side. Can anyone help me.
The motor
What year is it
I believe 1986. It’s not original to this boat
With a clutch like this can you still use the original z bar system?
Hi, yes stock z bar system and the clutch is a SPEC stage 1
CLR destroys aluminum and will break it down faster. That's why they take special coolant😉 You can cause a leak and have to replace the core and that would be VERY EXPENSIVE!!! They have core cleaners for that.
2011 ram 2500 same issue - I did a clean out of my heater core (new one i put in last year ) but found i had a small leak at the temp sensor that caused air in the system . ALL FIXED - great vid
I have a ram 2013 ram and my passenger side is blowing warm air and driver side is blowing cool air. I checked all my actuators and blend doors all seam to be working fine. Now was wondering if I need a thermostat and a radiator flush
I always use "The works" and I've had good results. I'm actually doing that right now, I'm just watching your video to pass the time as I let it sit to work. But it's supposed to be good for "Removed rust, limescale, and hard water stains" Also, does that......float(?) In the background say "obx"?
Link for parts?
I have HOT air on passenger side, so I know I have hot water in my radiator and heater core. (2009 1500, with dual heater controls for passenger or driver sides) but I have cool air on my driver side vent. I can see both driver and passenger blend doors open/shut when I adjust the temp up and down, so they are working. I've flushed my heater core, I've replaced my thermostat. any idea why I still have cool air on driver side? Could the driver blend door be partially stuck open and not closing all the way? (I can remove that blend motor and manually open/close the door by turning that white socket, it seems fine at least. THANKS!
Hey there...thanks for posting the video! Not too many folks seem to post anything about the "tower of power" Mercury 90 HP. I was having issues running for long distances and it kept bogging down. Took a look at the float in the bottom carb and BINGO...it had gas in it! Well done and thank you for saving me a ton of $$$
Make sure the cl5 doesn't get in the water pump cause the weep hole will leek!
Only issue I see is that you should put thread sealant on the 6 flywheel bolts because they go all the way through into the crankcase and oil could leak out. I have to pull my 302 engine out of my 67 mustang convertible, get it rebuilt and back in. I’m replacing the Z bar clutch system with a cable also. Nice video!
The aluminum cracking is because welded aluminum of any series 5xxx 6xxx or 7xxx are affected in different ways by welding but every one of them has to be analyzed with much lower allowables. Not the 30000 psi of the aluminum, but 8000 psi in the weld zone. So your friend just added in the sufficient amount of metal to withstand the forces without cracking. The Navy published an advisory about that decades ago. No one pays attention to that. And of course lots of cracking in welded aluminum structures. I just finished a carb job. Someone put on 150 hp carbs instead of 90 hp carbs. Fortunately I found three proper new ones on eBay
Yo I got the same engine any chance you can send me the part numbers to those kits
Well that’s enough about me so let me tell you a little about me !!! Didn’t make it past the 4th min lol
I also have an 09 ram 1500. I think I’m having similar issues but would like to hear your opinion. Is there a way to contact you?
Where did you get your carb rebuild kit?
I purchased them from www.marineengine.com
Life saver! Got the same exact problem with the number 3 carb. Thank you.
Me as well where did you get your rebuild kit?
@@Slo_N54 i think the place he got them archived the part number still looking but if i find it il let you know
CLR will eventually damage aluminum......it is too caustic. Use Prestone radiator flush or dawn dishwashing liquid
5 minutes talking about a $30 part
U too slow
So what came out of the heater core? Was it clogged? What was in it?
Mine only blows warm on the passenger side. Blows cold on the driver side. Mine is a reg cab. I’m at a loss
Does your Ram have dual climate control, or just single?
@@sinclairgarage4693 single
My 2013 ram same ,single climate hot passenger, cool drivers ?top of the lone junk ?I think I'm gonna tape some dryer ducting to passenger vents then I can aim the heat were ever I want ?on my nuts 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 frigging ram 💩
Great job with video and everything you talked about was helpful and important thanks
Have an 09 ram 1500 with the flex fuel 4.7. Had heat last night. And got in the truck this Morning and it's ice cold. Have had zero issues before this. Heat always worked great. Any advice is appreciated
My guess would be the blend door actuator that can be accessed behind the glove box lid. I replace the same one in this video.
Thanks just bought a 2013 ram. Heat on one side. I will try this.
This is great unless the hoses are essentially fused to the coupling. Even removing both clamps, those hoses aren’t separating under any circumstances. I would have to replace the hoses and feed them into the heater core behind the dash just to do this flush…
Use a pick tool to work around the hose. Will pop right off
Mines a 2013, I have same issue, Luke warm heat, you thinks it's the same thing heater core needs flushed?
I'm here looking for answers too. I have a 2014 with 45k on it. Only blowing warm air. Actuator works fine on the ac/heat. Coolant level is good, truck doesn't overheat. So it has to be the heater core right? Just odd I don't have many miles or hours on the truck.
Haven’t done this a lot. He said. Ok.
