How to Keep Skimmer Basket Down (Not Floating) on Above Ground Pool
Quick fix for issue: Above ground pool filter skimmer basket floats up when the pump is off. The fix to keep the basket down is to place a rock in the center of the basket, or a few rocks around the inside of the basket. The weight of the rocks will hold the basket down; which keeps the basket down. This helps to prevent the pump motor from burning out, and debris from bypassing the basket and clogging up your filter

How to Remove a Stuck Twist on Glass Shade from a Dome Light Fixture
มุมมอง 163K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Foolproof way that I came up with to remove the glass cover from a dome light fixture. Every other method that I tried did not work for me on this stuck fixture. Here I used a short 6 ft extension cord and wrapped it around the groove in the glass right where it meets the base. This allowed me to get a good grip and the leverage needed in order to turn the glass counterclockwise and successfull...

Song with call and response.
Two years ago I used this trick and it worked perfectly. Today I was trying to take the same one of and couldn’t, then I remembered this video. Thanks for the help twice!!!!
youre welcome, twice! 👍
You, good sir, deserve a metal for this hack!
Thanks for the kind words!
Bless you, my son!!! I've had mixed results when it comes to removing that dome light fixture! Once I did manage to get it off when I needed to replace a bulb. Many other times, I had to get a handy man to do it for me. I thought there must be a TH-cam genius who will know what to do and not only did I find you (Yay!), yours was the first video I hit!! Worked like a charm!!!! It was so depressing being in that room with all the bulbs burned out. Now I'm filled with happiness, LOL! Thank you so much for posting!!
youre comment made my day! thank you for taking the time to share it.. Im so glad to hear that it worked for you! Hope you have a fantastic day ahead!
You are a genius! I’ve watched many TH-cam videos over the past five years to find a way to remove that stuck light fixture cover. I was about to smash it and buy a replacement, but then watched this video and in less that a minute the thing came off. Thank you so much!!!
That is why I made the video! So glad it worked for you.. thanks for the message and hope you have a great day!
May God reward you, thank you
thank you! 🙏❤
Sorry I am 2 videos too late...i saw the other guy with flat head screw driver....unfortunately my light cover rotating part is now 1/6 chipped away....so i probably need to find a new light cover=(
Sorry to hear thjat. yes, I saw that one myself, and almost tried it before thinking of this and making this video. I can see the screwdriver might work, but there is the risk of breaking the glass; which you realized..
It worked!! I have tried for a year to get that globe off. The extension cord idea was perfect. Sorta like the same process for a oil filter. Thank you for the video.
That’s awesome! I’m glad you got it!
Muchas gracias por la ayuda
De nada mi amigo!
This helped. Thanks
you're welcome!
My extension cord was too thick to get in the groove between the base and the glass. Tried the phone charger method and it WORKED!!!!
Sweet!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your method worked like a charm!
Fantastic.. youre so welcome!
Appreciate the info.... them light covers are tuff to get off.... I just used muscle 💪
What a life saver you are, i was going out of my mind!! thank you !!
You are most welcome!
This worked immediately thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Lifesaver! Go internet!
saved me from having to take a dump in the dark ty
🤣 LOL!
I've tried everything and the last try was to gently tape it with a tennis shoe, which I did and the whole thing came down and now its hanging from the wiring. Is this a fire hazard until I can get an electrician here?
ooh that stinks, sorry to hear that.. as long as no exposed wiring it should be okay.. just leave it off until electrician gets there to be safe..
@@Ihaveasystem thanks. I may have the electrician put up a light that is easier to change the bulb.
You saved my light fixture and possibly my marriage with this one!
LOL.. Glad you got it!
Damn good advice. Too bad I watched the video where the guy used a screwdriver, and I broke the glass.
Oh man! Yes I saw that one and almost tried it before I thought of this and then made this video.
@Ihaveasystem I have duct tape over the dome and am tempted to break up the glass. But I will see if the cord trick will work first. The cracked dome may not let the cord trick work
thanx havent tried yet but insects inside need to b removed wish me luck lol
Good luck! You got this!
Didn’t work
I wonder if it might help if you can get some wd40 type lubricant up in where the glass meets the base.. let it sit for a few and it might help a bit...
Brilliant solution!! Been fighting with it the last hour. Used an old RCA cable. Thank you thank you!!
You're welcome!
Ok. I’m going to give it a try. Already trashed my neck with the gloves 🧤😂 . Who designed this anyway 😜
great! let me know how it goes!
This is the exact type of light giving me a problem 😩but now it unhooked from the ceiling so even this won’t help me 😩🤣
yes ive seen that in a few other comments.. if the light base is not secured well then the whole thing turns instead of only the glass dome..
Hey guys, this also works with a USB charging cable, as long as it's long enough to wrap around. I just wrapped it and put it in a basic loop so I could tighten and hold it with one hand, and it worked. This distinguished gentleman here saved me a lot of hassle and frustration. What a relief. Feelsgoodman.
Your assistant is very good as a camera operator, sir. You've done a great job as a father.
🙂 I appreciate that! I'll pass the complement on to her!..
Duct tape would work, but then you'll have duct tape stuck to it.
I'll try it now...thks... mine...had to lightly tap around w a mallot
This did the trick for me, thank god! Nice thinking
October 2024 and I found your video. You have saved me. Thank you very much!!!! Greetings from Veracruz México ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
De nada!
Two years into the future and your video is still helping people! I used an HDMI cord, lol. Thank you sir!
My pleasure! I tell people that making this video was such a gift to myself.. I can be having an off day and then I get a comment like this; in appreciation of the help.. technology is great for this.. I have some other ideas on videos too; just need to make the time to do them.. Take care!
I'm about to try this. Wish me luck.
@@Ihaveasystem Hey, I locked myself out of my bedroom and really needed the documents inside that day, and was so sad the cheapest place I could find would charge me $175. It would be cheaper to drill through the lock. Found a video of a TH-cam Good Guy Greg like you and boom, although it took me 45 minutes, the card trick worked! I was amazed and I literally got an adrenaline rush when I succeeded, lol.
@@Ihaveasystem It worked!!! Even with a thin little mobile charging cable. Incredible. Tried it for days and it wouldn't work, and yet something so simple worked in less than a minute. Thanks, mister! Hope good things happen to you. Means a lot.
@Wisdomwed Good luck! Wrap it tight and pinch it together.
You are a HERO. I've struggled with these for over 20 years. I've broken one and accidentally removed the entire fixture in another because it was so stuck. This technique worked for me after a few tries. Thank you!
Thanks so much! So glad that this technique helped you to get it!
Duuuuude…that worked perfectly. I think I have the same fixture. You are the MVP of today for me.
Duuuude! That is awesome!!! 👏 👍😃
Thanks a lot. Those was so helpful. God bless.
you' are so welcome!
Thank you. I have these light features in my home and they are difficult to remove to change or clean them. Thanks for the tip. I will be replacing them with something more modern and easy to deal with.
You Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. You saved my sanity today.
Awesome!
To anybody looking through videos trying to get their cover off, this is the one. Worked like a charm after struggling 10+ minutes on mine. Thank you!
so glad to hear it worked for you!
Justo en este momento necesito remover un cubierta similar, voy a intentar con el cable. Esperen actualización.
Absolute legend. All the other 'professional' videos I looked up suggested things like tapping the glass with the rubber ends of a tool to loosen it. Was ready to give up, but the technique used in this video worked in seconds. I just used a USB-C cable and it worked a treat. Great stuff, thanks for the post.
Fantastic! so glad to help!
Could not get that globe off to save my life, watched your video, grabbed a cord and got it off in seconds. Thanks so much for the tip!

Excellent! Glad it helped!
Thanks. I’ll try your suggestion.
Great idea, it's very clever.
GENIUS
TY … it worked for me Now I have to deal with some strange obscure light bulb that won’t come out Argh!
You are a life saver!! I tried everything and decided to search the internet before finally breaking the glass and buying a new one. It worked on the first try. THANK YOU!
you are so welcome! 🙂
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome! 👍
What a bunch of great ideas... I will try that. But in our bathrooms the lens is flush ... maybe put in from the back, with plastic vent-like outer ring for the exhaust fan. But all in all you made a great video.
Mine is likely different than one for the bathroom. Those could be mounted from the back especially if it has the exhaust outlet fan built in. Good luck!
I was about to hammer it, attempted your method and it worked. Thank you
You’re welcome!
This worked! With some serious elbow grease. Thanks for helping us all out! My hero! They do not make decent light fixtures anymore.
Great! So glad it worked out for you…
