Oh yes I only remember their Grand Island, NY Buffalo terminal before the ABF taker. I was mostly Greater Toronto and southern Ontario driver. Those were the good old days of the big unionized LTLs. The length laws must have been more restrictive even for doubles, as they ran many Ford L9000s, International S2200s, some short nose White Road bosses and Freightliner cabovers and even Ford WT9000 cabovers. But the length laws must have become more liberal in the ‘90s as they ran single axle International 8300s and 9400s.

I drove for Conway from ‘87-‘04. I got tired of the bs, Conway gave us a 3% raise one year and then three months later took 1.5% back for our healthcare! I quit and became an Owner Operator in ‘04-‘12, best move I ever made and retired with a small pension from CWX.

Preston, Carolina, Interstate, St. Johnsbury, Overnite just a few of the many companies I remember when I was a young driver in the 80s and 90s I've been driving 36 years now, I'm a 3rd generation driver with two sons who also are drivers. I used to enjoy driving. I'm looking forward to retirement in 4 years I hate what trucking has become. I'll always treasure the camaraderie and the memories (good and bad).

Started driving in Norwalk Ct then was asked to go to California Mira loma for 2 year contract. The best time of my life. Hauling to LAC, ING, SFV, OXN AND SANTA ANA, ORG driving overnight and then sometimes taking a day route from ING.

My father drive for Carolina Freight for 10 years until he retired in Oct1994. May he Rest In Peace I remember me and him drove to Cherryville, NC to visit the Carolina Freight truck museum I seen these trucks in museum.

I don't understand why Gulley's ICX (Interstate Carrier Express) was shown in this tribute to Illinois California Express (ICX) two completely different companies.

My dad drove for Carolina out of Cherryville, NC until they were bought out by ABF. He drove for ABF until retirement. He loved Carolina. This brought back great memories of my dad .

Frame number 0:54-0:55 This is my Dad and this picture was taken around 1960 at C/F's terminal in Springfield, Illinois. Dad started driving for C/F as an "over the road" driver with C/F around 1947 when Knaus Truck lines got bought out by Consolidated Freightways. He drove for 33 years, first out of C/F's terminal in Kansas City, Mo, then out of Springfield, IL and his final years out of Chicago until he retired in 1980. Sadly, he died of cancer just two years later. RIP Dad. Drove thirty-three years without a chargeable accident. (I might also mention that this picture is being used WITHOUT my permission.)

I lived in Worcester, MA near a Carolina terminal when I was a kid and remember these.

My dad drove for them until they went under. I inherited his safety belt buckle, watch and half dozen patches. He loved working for them. Sadly, he went along with the pay cut and found out the never deposited funds into the pension. His or their portion. His check from the BK court arrived the day after he died. He said he would never see it, and he didn't. He went by the handle of "dubya C" (WC-Woman Chaser) if any drivers through the late 70s-late 80s still around.

My brother in law worked for Caroline. I worked with them too shaping out of the Union hall. I then made the list at Preston Trucking also a great Company to work for. Eventually they were bought by Yellow and a short Tim later the door's were closed. But Preston and Carolina two Great Companies.
