    Nice deck Ive recently made a Caesar deck based along a human solder/imperial theme. Its probably not as strong as yours is but definitely sounds as fun. I really like the Squad Mechanic so I threw in the Astartes cards as well. I run black market so if anyone wipes the board and I have a squad card in hard they are in for a world of pain next turn. Id like to add Rise of the Dark Realms to punish my wipe happy friends, so will maybe see about that. Another card I love is Rose, but I took it out of my version.

      The deck defiantly has a ton of spots for fun or pet cards. I just played the deck yesterday and was able to get a win with the help of Call The Coppercoats into a boardwipe on my turn. I had Rise of the dark realms in my OG list, but did end up cutting it. I felt that if I just keep pushing more tokens out, the game was easier to close out. Rise is very bad in my play group because some of them play Cage effects that stop me from being able to return cards from the grave, but when It pops off, oh boy.

    Just checked your list on moxfield. This is more an abzan good stuff list than a dedicated counters deck. If you're interested in some indepth input on a counters centered strat, lmk. Ive been brewing something similar in a four color redless partner combo for a while and am thinking dropping blue for a more streamlined deck. Then again, the deck is insane with blue for counter spells in it...

  • @jones94122
    @jones94122 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Dude, you should focus way more on counter synergy with your creatures. Is this a budget deck or something? I'm putting together a list and I think we only have like 5 creatures overlap. Walking Ballista is a must. You need more sac outlets too, so you can control when you move those counters. Also, I'm gonna assume you're avoiding combos and ghave for a reason...but if you're gonna be winning through combat you're gonna want to move those counters around at instant speed. Also, did you somehow miss Corpse Jack Menace?

      I'm glad you enjoyed the deck! messages like this make me want to make more MTG content, so i appreciate it! sorry for the late response. I think it is a great card for the deck. You can do all of your cycle stuff with the added ability to play the cards if you choose. Not all of them are mana efficient, but having the choice to play them if you want is still very nice. I played the deck for a few months and it have Anje vibes. Tons of fun, but can run out of gas. Cards like this might help a deck like this be more viable. Unfortunately, my playgroup upped the power level so i had to take this deck apart.

    I've got an Olivia Mobilized deck with a Falkenrath Gorger as one of the main pieces. Gorger makes all vampires in your library have madness, with the cost being their normal mana cost. Tons of shenanigans to be had. Other than the madness creatures, I put in a bunch of burn spells with madness, like fiery temper, Avacyn's judgement, etc. Most of the deck is either a discard outlet, or a madness spell.

    Demon of Dark Schemes could be really great here. It wipes your board too but the reanimation effect is really strong for longer games. I think Cultist of the Absolute has potential with Grismold too. It might be tough to keep around with the -x effects but even as a sorcery speed combat trick for flying, deathtouch and trample it will end games.

    I would separate different stuff into separate piles, like mana rocks, white, black, green, Orzhov, Selesnya, Golgari, Abzan, and colorless, but at your discretion, highlighting notable strategies. I've had trouble with 3-color decks over the years, but mostly due to tracking down specific dual lands, and MTG lacking commanders I prefer. For Abzan, I settled on Nikara (Lair Scavenger)//Yannik (Scavenging Sentinel) blink/flicker and recursion, where as I have done a couple freestyle partner decks as well (OG and Commander Legends), featuring Akroma (Vision of Ixidor)//Kraum (Ludevic's Opus) Jeskai keyword soup and Kamahl (Heart of Krosa)//Bruse Tarl (Boorish Herder) Naya tokens and Naya good-stuff... ...and (considering Jund) I've become bored with Shattergang Brothers and Mr. Orfeo (the Boulder), but such doesn't mean I want to switch to Korvold (Fae-Cursed King). I would rather switch to Maarika (Brutal Gladiator) or Gilanra (Caller of Wirewood)//Vial Smasher the Fierce. On a side note for green, Harmonize and You Meet in a Tavern are seriously underrated cards, even being 4 mana value sorceries.

    • @adapperpigeon
      @adapperpigeon ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you for the advice! I usually post my videos different, so i will probably redo this one like the others because of the reason you stated. i understand where you come from on the commanders being boring side. I have often switched up my commanders just for that reason. For example, my mono green deck started as Goreclaw, but it felt limited and slow, so it is Gilanra//Kodama. My mono black deck was Rankle for a while, but i currently am trying out a Whisper reanimator deck at the moment. I find that while Kamahl is not the best commander, and i am not running the best card draw package, the deck does perform very well. Perhaps ill post a video with the deck discribed better. I have a few videos made ready to go and a few decks to talk about thou.

      hey, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, it is not. i built most of my deck on just what i own so i can test them and post how they play out. I am unsure of how much was actually added from warhammer for this deck, but i dont believe its much. its generally a value deck, so id either go more for cascade or more for landfall value, so if any of that was added then it might help. sorry for the late response. i will be posting end of this month, so if any warhammer stuff interest you, please let me know and i can add it onto my radar.

      unfortunately, due to them being shorty videos and more of an idea instead of a well thought out deck, I did not make one. I apologize. At the time of making this video, I didn't want to go through all the time of making a video and deck online if the style of video would be unpopular. I also didn't want to make an actual deck list for people to buy if I didn't try out the deck and test it for myself. I felt like it might incentivize a person to buy the list, and then figure out it didn't work/play well like it seemed it might in the video. I can add them in the future if that is something you think would help!

      i think when i was making this deck, i was trying to really go hard on the legendary side of it. I ended up cutting a few cards that had mid CMC that werent legendary. Tbh, i tore the deck apart and that probably had to do with the reason it felt more slow then anything. I think Yoshimaru is better as an extention of the deck rather then a focal point on the build. I may rebuild him as an equipment deck or something in the future.

    > Tormod//Ghost of Ramirez I'm a big fan of the self-reanimating skeletons, like Gutterbones, Reassembling Skeleton, Clattering Augur, Sanitarium Skeleton, Death Tyrant, and more. They also give me an excuse to run Death Baron, so I can crank up the synergy a bit. I also have Amorphous Axe to give non-zombie, non-skeleton creatures all creature types. Vela (the Night-Clad), Wilhelt (the Rotcleaver), Gisa and Geralf, Gyruda (Doom of Depths), and Taigam (Sidisi's Hand) are the Dimir legends in the 98. There's also some neat graveyard strategy artifacts like Cellar Door, Reito Lantern, Epitaph Golem, Scaretiller, and Ghoulcaller's Bell. It isn't just a Tormod brew, so for Ghost of Ramirez, I have Grappling Hook, Fireshrieker, Duskmantle (House of Shadow), Syr Konrad (the Grim), Dakra Mystic, Stitcher Geralf, Alexi (Zephyr Mage), Emry (Lurker of the Loch), Deranged Assistant, Undertaker, Port of Karfell, and Liliana (Death's Majesty). The deck could use Brass Knuckles, among other things, but if anything's surprising, it's me actually managing to build a zombie deck which isn't a one-trick pony. Forgotten Realms and its commander pre-cons had quite a bit of resources, as well as Midnight Hunt's zombies pre-con. It was actually pretty nuts.

    • @adapperpigeon
      @adapperpigeon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment! Since this video, i did end up tearing this deck apart. I will look into these cards and consider rebuilding it. I loved how the deck played and enjoyed the off norm path it took. Was always fun to surprise the table with some shenanigans they haven't seen before. Unfortunately, my friends have all upped their power levels and this deck was always set up as the game ended. I've built a few decks and was going to post them, but they also appeared too slow for my playground or LGS. I may just post those ideas on here so that maybe I can get constructive criticism that helps me but I tear my decks apart haha. I had it switched to the precon commander for a few weeks, but this partner pair was ultimately too fun compared to that commander. again, thanks for the comment. I will look into these cards and consider rebuilding the deck soon!

    • @dreddbolt
      @dreddbolt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      > Ghost of Ramirez//Tormod I'm usually on a fool's quest to make a 'bad' or 'low power' deck work in higher power games, going against the meta if I can... ... I also sometimes pass my turn, even if I have what's necessary to deal with the player who's running away with the game, saving my answers for later threats. GRD//Tormod also depends on the mindset and the deck's pilot, considering sometimes I just like to see the world(fire) burn, then start dropping stuff to disrupt the whole field. I've noticed some of my games fall apart if I play too much as if I needed to win early, so 6 to 8 big mana bombs and ways to capitalize on them are almost always necessary, because sometimes huge disruption is better than the obvious win-con. Ghoulcaller's Bell, Cellar Door, Dakra Mystic, and other mill shenanigans can become just enough incremental value to dig for answers and disruption. Also, it might not seem like much, but Myriad Landscape, Ash Barrens, Wanderer's Twig, Traveler's Amulet, and Wayfarer's Bauble put in so much good work, I wonder why I neglected to put them into several of my decks in the first place. If there's any anomalies to note, I try to stick to as close to an even amount of both of the deck's colors as possible, if I'm building a two-color deck. If anything, taking my 'low-power' deck to a high power game helps me to figure out how to turn my dumb ideas into deliciously evil ideas. One of my biggest success stories with as such is my Kazarov (Sengir Pureblood) deck, which utilizes things which shouldn't be removal or boardwipes, by turning them deadly. Rakdos color decks are difficult for me to get right, but are super satisfying to solve.

      @@dreddbolt Sorry! i typed out a resonse and i guess it didnt post or something. I like that bottom part you said. Thats how i built my mono green deck. It started off as Goreclaw big dumb guys, but is not Gilanra//Kodama. I was able to really focus on what i liked about the deck and what worked well against the higher powered decks and tune it very well. I noticed things like eldritch evolution can get craterhoof out, and doubling powers can be game ending. and yeah, it is a mindset. I played many games with this deck where i sat back and waited for the perfect time to act on different things going on. It may not have won a ton of games, but I always felt like I really did a lot, and that made me always feel good about playing the deck.

My friend also has an Ognis deck built around treasures, and even thou they enter tapped, I lose to that deck in a split second. I defiantly think its interesting enough and can put in some work. This card alone gives me 2 treasures a turn in my Henzie dekc, which is nothing to look down on since i blitz out the creatures and get a draw. I have an Omnath EDH deck which I've spent the last ten years or so blinging up with foils, etc. It also has a bunch of really expensive cards, like Gaea's Cradle in it, but that's just me. 1. If you're looking for cheap replacements for Devoted Druid and/or Gyre Sage, you might want to consider Marwyn, the Nurturer, and Viridian Joiner. They both tap for green mana equal to their own power, which you might be able to pump in various ways, and they're both elves. 2. There's one more creature that regrows cards out of your graveyard, its 6 mana but less than a dollar to buy probably, called Greenwarden of Murasa. I think cards like this are better as creatures than as spells. First, these spells are always soreceries anyway, so you're casting it on your own turn, therefore it's better to regrow a card AND get a chump blocker than just regrow a card. Second, you might get your creatures bounced back to your hand, in some cases, which allows you to replay the creature and regrow something again, which is not possible with sorceries like Regrowth. 3. You might think about cutting Harmonize for Momentous Fall, which is the same casting cost, is an instant, gains you life, and can draw you most of your deck. There's also Life's Legacy, which is only 2 mana, but is a sorcery and doesn't gain you life. There's also an instant called Hunter's Insight. Life's Legacy and Momentous Fall both require you to sacrifice Omnath to draw the insane number of cards you get to draw, but that's ok, because you should be able to replay him from the command zone anyway. Also, because those cards have you sacrifice Omnath, you get to do timing shennanigans with the mana cost. There's a rule that says that when a card has multiple types of costs, like saccing a creature and paying mana, the player casting the spell get's to decide the official order in which those costs are paid. So you can announce to your opponent "With 50 mana floating, and thus a 51/51 Omnath in play, I'm casting Momentous Fall, saccing Omnath. I choose to sac Omnath first then pay the mana second. Since the game last saw Omnath's power as 51 when he was still in play, I will thus draw 51 cards, and be left with 47 mana left in my mana pool. I also gain 51 life, because his last known toughness was 51." 4. One "Big X" spell I was expecting to see, but didn't, is Genesis Wave. It think it's pretty good, and is a win condition unto itself, even if you're just doing it for X = 20, often. And it's not expensive. 5. There's one more equipment which can untap your mana dorks for 3 mana, like Umbral Mantle. It's called Sword of the Paruns. I'm not sure I'd play it actually, but it's not expensive, in terms of money. It costs 4 generic mana to play it, 3 to equip, and 3 to use the untap ability. 6. If you're playing Wirewood Lodge, I highly recommend a land untapper dork named Argothian Elder and anything that can cause your lands to tap for more mana, like Mana Reflection, Overgrowth, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, and Nyxbloom Ancient. You might also want to play Maze of Ith if you have Argothian Elder, and you might want to cut the Command Tower for Sapseep Forest, which counts as a Forest, albeit a non-basic one, but also taps to gain life. Lotus Field is also pretty good, as lands go. As is Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. Also, if you think you can manage to get 4 creatures into play with any frequency, you might play Growing Rites of Itlimoc. 7. You might want to put in cards that allow you to cast creatures at instant speed. That way, if Omnath get's destroyed, you can put him in the command zone and replay him before your mana pool empties. Cards that do this include a green creature named Yeva, Nature's Herald, an artifact named Vedalken Orrery, and a land named Winding Canyons. 8. You might try putting in an enchantment named Cream of the Crop. I also like Concordant Crossroads, which might be pricey nowadays, I don't know. If you have approximately infinite mana, you might consider "go wide" win conditions like making tokens and attacking with them., If so, you could play Ant Queen or Jade Mage maybe. 9. Green has tons of creature tutors you might use, including Eldritch Evolution, Natural Order, Tooth and Nail, Green Sun's Zenith, and Shared Summons, Most of them cost a fortune. 10. Other "Hurricane-like" infinite mana win con cards include Walking Ballista, Squall Line (which is just Hurricane, but is an instant and costs XGG), Squall Monger, which is a creature that has an activated ability that you can use to hurricane people to death, and Ifh-Biff Efreet, which costs like a million dollerydoos and is probably not worth it. Both the Efreet and the Monger have activated abilities that do, effectively, a 1-point hurricane as an activated ability, and you only have to pay mana to activate them, you don't tap the creature, so they can be activated repeatedly until you kill everyone. Unfortunately, they both also allow your opponents to activate the ability as well, so timing is critical. 11. I like to play cards that can deal with opposing commanders, and for that I like Kenrith's Transformation, Lignify, and Song of the Dryads. You might also consider an OOOLD card called Willow Satyr. It can tap to gain control of target legendary creature.

      Wow, thanks for the advice! The deck was built almost entirely out of cards i already owned in my collection, so i didn't dig around much for cards to add. Since i built this deck, i did tear apart a few decks, so i will have to see if i have any of these cards i can add. I am going through and looking up these cards to make a list of what i want to add. Thankfully, most of the cards you named are not expensive, so i will pick them up and tweak the deck ( except for Ifh-biff who is absolutely perfect, but over $200). Greenwarden of Murasa is a big help to the deck. My goal when making it was to be able to just have a ton of redundancy in the form of recurring the cards back. My group is heavy into counterspells, so i figured a cool way to get around that is returning the card back and trying again (incase i don't have protection, if i do i just win basically). Also, big thank you for the Momentous Fall advice. Completely forgot this card exists and last time i played the deck i felt it did move a little slow at times. I for sure plan on adding these cards and cards listed on 11. Thanks again! i will try to get back to this deck and do an update video in the future.

      @@adapperpigeon My pleasure, fellow Omnath player! I find both EDHREC and Gatherer to be good resources for finding cards. Squall Monger is, mercifully, WAY cheaper than Ifh-Biff and also probably better designed. The Efreet itself has flying, so it deals damage to itself when you hurricane with it, making it a very awkward card that fights against itself, plus your opponents can activate it if they have green mana. The Squall Monger does not have flying, but its hurricane ability costs 2 generic mana, making it both easier for your opponents to use it and harder for you to use is compared to Ifh-Biff version, which is just "G: do a 1 point hurricane". I also play fetch lands in my Omnath deck, along with Sylvan Library and several "play with the top card of your library revealed" cards like Oracle of Mul Daya etc. That way you get to shuffle away cards you don't want to draw when you can see them coming. All of those cards cost serious money though. Funny story, I got most of my foils for my Omnath deck years ago when prices weren't insane yet. I got a my foil Gaea's Cradle at Eternal Weekend in Philly in like 2012 when it was only $250, and even then I traded in a ton of shock lands and other stuff for it instead of paying cash. That was, now, maybe the best card deal I ever made, but it felt like getting robbed at the time. Edit: Oh I almost forgot. If you like Fog, you might want to try out a creature named Spike Weaver, especially if you end up playing cards that can put +1/+1 counters on creatures. Also, if you want to protect against a lot of coutnerspells, you might look at cards like Defense Grid, City of Solitude, Dosan, the Falling Leaf, and Hall of Gemstone.

      @@radiac6818 I am forsure adding Monger into this deck. I can't believe i haven't had anyone recommend that card for this deck yet. There are tons of cards i feel that spike randomly later and/or just dont seem good at the moment, but are very worth it later on. That is a CRAZY good card to have now a days, especially foil. I wish i was into MTG back then, but i think i played videogames more then anything else. Those last cards seem like great fits. I will look into adding City of Solitude and Dosan, since my play group is very responsive. I am going to play the deck soon, so i will try to see what cards i have in the deck that aren't playing well and start to slowly switch them out and improve the deck. I plan on making this one of my top decks, so i greatly apricate the amazing feedback!

      Greetings. I'm keen to build an Omnath deck. Can you perhaps recommend a build? Zero consideration for budget. Unlimited etc. I want the deck to be top tier power wise. Appreciate the advice. Cheers.
