A bit of a curious release this, and perhaps best seen as a companion to the other Martin Jarvis abridgment of Carry On, Jeeves that I uploaded a while back. This collection includes two of the Wooster stories missing from that and three tales that, although introduced by Bertie here, are all about Reggie Pepper in the original release. It has always been something of an effort to compile a def...
I'm losing track of who's who and what this is all about
Great Writing ... TY
Amazing! Thank you. I love listening to Robin Bailey - what a great voice! ❤
One of my favorites! Excellence in writing, humor and narration!
Really appreciate the black screen, much better for cosy listening in the dark.
Thank you so much! I love this narrator! 😊
I'd forgotten what a marvellous voice Robin Bailey had. Like many others I'm revisiting, in my 'dotage', books I enjoyed in the past but can no longer enjoy by reading. RB has the ideal voice for Wexford stories. Hands up, who else wants to clout Mike around the ear at times? 😉
I love Robin Bailey, but I can not stand the voice he gave to car man!!
What an incredible pairing Sir P.G.Wodehouse & Mr Johnathan Cecil. Thank you very much for this wonderful book. Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Cannot find part 2 anywhere?
Clearly written at a time when a young girl getting into a strangers was not a concern!! 😮
One critique, no one thought to check with the ports and airports? Other than that, good story. Thank you for sharing.
I love Ruth Rendel I have read all het books over the years this one included. Thank you for playing the audiobook.
By far Ruth's most descriptive, understandable, down to earth WHODUNNIT. I was thoroughly engrossed. READER on par with JEFF HARDIN of (Reacher) and STACY KEACH of (Mike Hammer) and (Twilight Zone). Thank You.
heki ikease I can not find part 2
PGW , amezing talent ! Superb narration ,great listening pleasure! Many thanks for sharing.
Can’t find part 2 !!!???!!!
Martin reading “ Just William” is delicious too. Sadly, Just William ,will be a mystery to most people, but was a favourite childhood read. 😃

Why no Part #2?

Excellent, thank you. I'm familiar with Thomas More thru background, love of History & local church named after him. We/ I attended with boys when young. Haven't been there for a while, quite a while. He T/M was a unique man of his time. He oversaw Henry V111 's education, perhaps to his loss. I' m sorry I didn't know about the statue, otherwise I would have visited it. I 🎉was in London Dec'78/Jan'79. Travelling with my mother, the R/C parent, she would have come with me gladly. But I think I was too ill to venture outdoors there, developed bronchitis, mainly due to the cold weather. We'd left Australia on Booxing Day , in the middle of a heatwave!. Alas I'm too old now to travel. Never mind, I'll definitely have to read More's now. Thank you, More enjoyable, Cheers!

This narrator truly on a par with Jeff Hardin (Jack Reacher) and Stacy Keach (Mike Hammer & Twilight Zone). SPLENDID indeed.

Is part 2 available on this channel?
Terrible story, horrid cruelty that Rendell depicts so well. The gross things people do to the defenseless, the miserable grind of ruined lives. Somehow you can’t look away because if you don’t know personally , you’ve likely seen it out the side of your eye or suspected it in your own circle, tried to help. Terrible. Saint Thomas More indeed. Or Sir to his executioners!
Wow... are you a happy person?
I didn't understand why Bertie can't keep Jeeves in the country but Chaffy can.
Because he doesn't play the banjolele.
This is so good it’s so honest even though it’s dated way back nothings changed give it a try
no ending
Written by a genius. Performed by a genius.
I don't think I am going to listen to this, much as I want to as apparently it is only half the story, so Raelene Rivero, what have you got to say for yourself!
The narrator is good but he smacks his lips with almost every sentence. Hugh Frazier, who reads Christie never does that.
Thank you
I love Ruth Rendell. This was new to me, and I am so glad I listened to it. Her writing is exquisite.
Jeeves sounds very much like Sir Alec Guinness.
Enthralling and well-written police mystery. The narrator has a fabulous voice and uses appropriate inflections. The storyline is gritty and intricate with highly developed characters and scenes. I recommend "Wolf to the slaughter".
Its not the first time that only ine part of the story has been uploaded on this channel. I should have known better.
I remember this actor in a episode of Tales or the unexpected.. look it up its a great one.
Very enjoyable. When I first read this book, many years ago, I could not, from the description, picture what a circular knitting needle looked like. Since then, I have had occasion to use them frequently, having become an avid knitter, and I still could not describe them better myself. Ruth Rendell's characters always seem believable, warts and all. Great to listen to whilst knitting...
There is no butter.
Robin Bailey makes anything he reads come alive. Listening is very much like watching a movie in the mind. 💜🥰
