Wow, super duper insightful. Appreciate the upload.
Does Bones still do lessons?
Oh I expected this was gonna be about how bad the replay program is haha
@@BIZaGoten the replay program is good?
@@Baditow I remember me and my friend had lots of issues with it. Mostly during screensharing but playback issues aswell.
@@BIZaGoten I'm also having issues with it. frame dumping is enabled and I'm not sure how to disable it so I can't view my replays properly. if you know how to fix that lmk, but regardless it's a really good software. the likely reason you're having issues with playback is PC performance since it's an actual gamestate replay.
@@Baditow Sorry I don't know, haven't played in a year or two.
I watched v1 of this and thought I was going insane when I couldn't find the video anymore
whys the original gone?
15 seconds in and I already liked the video. I also experience this mental resistance.
Excellent lesson Bones 😎 I learned a lot
5:29 The biggest thing vs Falcon is he is a very jump-heavy character. At mid-range, he generally wants to come in with ariels, so high lasers are good for stuffing his approach and preventing him from jumping in the first place 6:27 Importance of comboing and edgeguarding efficiently 10:04 How to high laser 11:08 Falcon's two things to get under lasers are run-up grab and raptor boost 11:24 Falco's dashback. Usefulness of dashback-shield. Proactive shielding. 13:56: Respawn invulnerability. Falco has to be tricky to deal with invul. 17:33 Reacting to Falcon's jumps. 18:50 When Falco has invulnerability, try to pin down Falcon with lasers. Go for an attack read. End your invulnerability in a good position. 20:13 Crouch cancel and Falcon's stomp 20:51 Waveshine towards the direction you hit the opponent, don't put yourself in a bad position trying to extend a punish. 23:23 Using approaching laser instead of throwing out an aerial on an opponent when you know they are going to have shield out 24:43 Falcon's approach range is so big that unless you are retreating all the way out (not usually recommended), it is usually better to just hold your ground 26:35 Edgeguarding Falcon. You want to meet him at the peak of his Up-B. React to his double jump and the start-up of his Up-B. Bair the most shallow possible zone that he could Up-B and make it back to stage. 28:50 Don't be scared to late aerial 31:31 Falco's two hitboxes on his Up-air 33:15 Discussion on Falco's ledge options
this doubles as a tutorial on what puff should avoid, now i know what to look out for
37:30 how can laser ever be +8 on shield? It does 6 frames of stun, and landing from the laser takes 4 frames. Do you mean if there’s a significant distance between falco and the opponent? Cause a point blank laser should generally be about +1 on shield
Whoops! I definitely misspoke. Can't remember exactly what I was thinking, but it sounds like maybe I was thinking about frame advantage on HIT which which can be +8? A point blank laser can be up to +3 on shield if it comes out on the same frame you land. It keeps the opponent trapped in shield for 7 frames if you include both the hitlag and shield stun.
I really liked this lesson. I am not good enough to analyze matchups (since I can't move) so it is nice to have someone ask what I'm thinking. I'd love those lessons on tech skill. I spend a LOT of time doing things incorrectly the first time because of vague guides and then trying to fix the problem later on (ie. the dair timing you explain was new to me, I've spent weeks trying to full hop waveland, and no guides told me that resetting to neutral when wavedashing is important to get waveshining down consistently - only "just shine + waveland LOL").
Thanks for the feedback! I've always found it pretty difficult to get an idea of how many people actually want help with tech skill advice because it is not something that really comes up at tournaments. My experience coaching newer players and comments like yours lets me know where a lot of players are at and what kind of content I should start focusing on.

Are you playing these matchups normally or are you playing them to test different aspect of the student's game? (ie. shooting lots of lasers to see how they deal with them, testing their offense against cc, etc) Oh, and how are you determining the structure of these lessons? I want to get a lesson, but I am still really bad at movements.
I generally start out playing normally, and then as I continue to make notes I will play in more extreme ways in short bursts to test certain skills. Sometimes players know how to deal with a certain tactic, such as laser spam, but they need it to be obvious in order to do it. Other times they may seem to have a counter, but when pushed further they tend to collapse. The structure of the lesson varies based on what the student wants and how I think they are best served. If someone just wants high level experience and isn't too keen on getting tons of guidance, I could just play the session seriously and simply bring up the main observations. Most players are still at a level where I can consistently beat them, so they are generally looking for more advice. Sometimes I stop halfway to discuss observations so when we play the second segment they can try some new things, but I do not advise this for newer players because it's hard enough just to hang on to stocks or move around, let alone implement new tactics. If you fall into the second camp where you are still finding your bearings, I recommend finding a player around your level and bringing just 1-2 Slippi files for a standard vod analysis lesson. Most new players I have helped are benefiting from: 1. Basic gameplans for matchups that offer them done semblance of structure, and 2. Drawing awareness to the massive oversights in their gameplay (doing dangerous things near ledge, giving up stage control for no reason, etc)

This is such an amazing lesson. The visuals are insanely helpful and the DI Draw is a feature I didn't know existed but will use basically all the time while practicing now
Appreciate it. I might have to actually figure out a way to draw on my screen and have it show to the student/recording because there are a lot of times I try to visually show things but just end up moving my mouse cursor back and forth. lol

@@tobiasmoodias4855 Awesome, looking forward to it!
Yo is the video supposed to be black?
Yeah, most of my lessons are vod review, but for this one Boalisk just wanted to go over his notes that he had written down. In hindsight I should have screen capped the pictures of his notecards that he sent me so there was at least something to look at, but I am still learning how to record everything properly, so sorry for any issues like this. I have unfortunately lost a couple lessons due to not recording the gameplay/audio as well, but I will continue to refine the process for future content so I appreciate any and all feedback.
