I looked here because of the song, but this was a lovely experience throughout. Many thanks. Just subscribed. Take care. Raymondo.
This is so cool! Thank you for creating this. I will use this as a resource in my language study.
Wonderful! Please do that.
I love this song.its so bitterly sweet
Yeah. Thanks.
Hey! Can you please teach us how to learn Japanese with Ashite? Thank you!
Thank you. What's "Ashite"? "Aishite"?
@WordsInJapaneseSong It's a song by the producer Kikuo using Hatsune Miku as th3 vocals, It got a cover by Ado
Thank you for this beautiful explanation of this song which I did not understand before, heard it poignantly in old movies not knowing the name of this piece..
Thank you for your thoughts. This song is beautiful not only in its melody but also in the scenery it depicts
Can you introduce us the song named Kitaguni no haru?
Thank you for your request. Enka, right? I’ve recently started covering enka on my blog. If you’re interested, please check out ‘Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki - Sayuri Ishikawa | 1977’ as well. japanese-song.com/tsugaru-kaikyo-fuyugeshiki/ The theme is ‘Kitaguni,’ and there are shared elements.
But if some of those lyrics maybe meaningless, then why could there be real Japanese characters to the pronunciation
I’m not sure if I fully understand your question, but let’s talk about meaningless words. First, specific sounds can be transcribed into characters. In Japanese, there’s a certain shared understanding of how to transcribe these sounds, and among them, the more common ones can be verbalized as ‘onomatopoeia.’ This phenomenon likely exists in other languages as well. Japanese, in particular, has a tendency to verbalize sensory experiences and use them in everyday language.
Thank you for this, this was my grandma's favorite song and i played it for her all the time. I can see why she loved it. Its nice to play this when I need to be with her spirit. It fills me with warmth but also a deep longing, and that seems to go along with the song itself. Interesting how life seems to imitate art. どうもありがとうございます。
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful experience. It resonated deeply with me.
The tears remain, but happily
Yeah, that's right.
歌の内容説明のやり方が大好きです。ありがとうございます。
とてもうれしい感想をありがとうございます。
I would sing this song when I was learning the Japanese language. I was moved to tears when it experienced a renewed interest among Japanese people following the 1995 and 2011 devastating earthquakes.
Yeah. It's a song that makes us feel positive. Thank you.
Thank you for the in depth literary explanation. This song brings fond memory of growing up. There is so much sincerity from the singer and his genuine smile makes this song evergreen😊 Best way to learn language ❤
Thank you. It is a comment that makes me very happy.
Didn't Rokusuke Ei write the lyrics after disappointment from a protest demonstration?
Thanks for your comment. What is the protest song against?
I remember when his song came out, and have been unable to sing it ever since... until now. Domo, neh? mahalo from Hawaii
Good luck and give it a try!
❤love this song a lotttttt
Thank you. I like this song too, but it seems to be especially popular lately. I wonder why it is so popular.
I had this song on an album from Walt Disney Vienna boys choir sings international songs. Sukiyaki was easier to sing badly with the wrong pronunciation. Thank you for making me work harder, so hopefully it sounds right in Japanese. A. Hope
There will be versions sung by many different people. Thanks!

This video is amazing. There’s so much depth to this song that I didn’t know it had. Been listened to it for over 40 years since I was a kid and only now got some sense of how much depth it actually holds. Thank you ❤
Thank you very much!
So this song is actually about Rika Akana's feelings for Nagao Kanji, not the other way around. Am I right?
It seems like you’re familiar with dramas! However, I’m not sure if Kazumasa Oda actually considered the story when writing the lyrics. Since it was before the drama started, he would need to read the original manga.
@@WordsInJapaneseSong sorry, I expressed it wrongly. What I actually meant was that the one who has feelings and love like in oda's song is rika akana (her feelings and love for nagao kenji). Not the opposite. The word "I" in oda's song is more suitable for rika, and the word "you" is for kenji. So the thought bubble in your video here should belong to rika, not kenji. Because kenji only loves satomi, not rika. But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. Anyway, I like the song, the drama, and your video too. I can understand the song meaning now. Cheers from Indonesia!
@@ikhwanov9659 Thanks for reading this video so thoroughly. I'm glad you did.
Thank you for the wonderful research and video! ❤
Thank you!
Thank you! I love this song and the tv drama
Thank you!
Thank you so much this was helpful
Thank you! Blogs are also useful for learning. Take a look.
I have a question. Within 2:54 What do the particles のも mean within this lyric of the song?
“の” creates a noun. For example, “呼ぶ” (call) becomes “呼ぶの” (calling or to call). “も” means “also”."even". Otherwise, the original particle used would be “に、を、possibly は” Translating it with a grammatical explanation, "They call their mothers with singing even for calling their mothers."
Thank you so much for playing and explaining this song. More than 30 years ago, I learned this song in my Japanese class in college. I did not fully understand it, but I felt in love with its melody and sentiment. Now, after your explanation, I love it even more! Thanks!
I am glad to hear your story. Thank you so much too.
I loved it!! This song it's been in my head since last year that I spent two months in Japan, mainly in Tokyo. Reading lots of Murakami and made me in some way a lot of false nostalgia from the 80s over there. I was looking for the lyrics and explanation and I love yours. Thanks heaps!!
Thanks, Murakami is Haruki Murakami? If It is about novelists, I also recommend Ryu Murakami.
Thank you for this explanation of the song. I am learning Japanese and your videos that break down the song line by line makes studying easier.
Thank you. Please read my blog from now on.
Thank you for this explanation of this song lyrics. It is also a beautiful melody making it one of my favorite songs even though I do not speak any Japanese.
You don't have to be able to speak, but by all means sing!
Master piece 🎉
Thank you!
WAY back in 1984, I bought the vinyl record of "Tokyo Tapes" by the German band Scorpions. I really love all the songs on that album, but their rendition of Kojo No Tsuki captured my mind. I have loved Kojo No Tsuki ever since. Obviously just their version, but of many versions, and I LOVE the version you picked to help teach the language.
Japanese people do not know that this song is well known in many foreign countries. Some may be surprised to hear the Scorpions' version.
My elementary school choir (I'm the teacher) sang this beautiful song for our fall festival. My students really loved it.
It is a pleasure to let the children know.
Arigatou gozaimasu! 😊

Thank you sooooo muchhhh❤❤
Thank you too!
Appreciated. I have been listening to this song for so many years. Today, I understood the background in depth through your introduction. Thanks so much.
Although the content of the lyrics is difficult even for Japanese people, I believe that everyone will enjoy it more if they know even a little bit about it.
I was living in Japan when this came out!
Wow. That's a wonderful experience. Must have been very popular in that place at the time.
Love this! Thank you!
Thank you!
I love the concept, learning and singing your favorite Japanese song at the same time❤
Thank you. I have chosen the most appropriate one for you to enjoy.
Just now discovering Japanese songs. Sincerely cultural songs should stay to it's original form. The unique richness of tradition and culture comes through and is more valuable.
Yes, it is. Thanks.
wow, this will be very helpful for my Japanese trip!!! yay!
Enjoy your trip to Japan!

Wow, I mistakenly wrote Telephone for Photelene. This is an invention that would have amazed Edison. Thanks for pointing that out.
What does Photelene mean anyway?

This is amazing video on learning the literal Japanese translation and learning a bit of the history. Love this song!
Thanks for liking this song.
This is a wonderful song. I learned to sing it in Japan back in the seventies. I hope you will enjoy my cover of Kyu Sakamoto’s classic (despite my Aussie/English accent)! th-cam.com/video/0ujkg2uRM64/w-d-xo.htmlsi=75weya3oGPOLo09t
I heard a wonderful song on your page. It is wonderful that you sing with your memories of Japan.
Hi. I literally cried while you explained. I didnt realized this song had such a simple yet deep meaning. I felt nostalgic for something i've never experienced in my life. Thank you so much. Keep making videos ❤❤❤
Thank you. Indeed, this song is simple but has a deep meaning. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Wow this is great!
Thank you!
I really enjoy the didactics of these videos, ありがとうございました!
Thank you ありがとう。
I like the song やさしさに包まれたなら by the same singer in the same movie. I even found a duet version with 横山剣.
In fact, "Yasashisa ni Tsutsumaretanara やさしさに包まれたなら" may be more popular in Japan. But I have concluded that this one is more appropriate for explanation.
Great! Thanks for this explanation I'm latino and speak spanish, but can undertand your video with ny poor english 🙌🏼
Thank you! Maybe it's because I can't use difficult English.
