Come back! 🙏 I’m wondering how everything is working out for you!
Hi! You might not see this comment and that’s okay! However If you do, I have some questions and maybe need some honest opinions. I want to get into UCSB, I live near the county and go to a small high school. I didn’t do so well my freshman year, but I did pretty well my somphmore year. I’ve only taken AP World History for 10th grade, and passed with a 4 and an Honor Roll GPA. Currently I’m a junior taking only 2 AP classes and Pre Calculus. I plan on taking more AP classes in the future and SAT. Unfortunately I’m not very involved in extra curricular activities. I’ve helped clean and shelve books at my local library. Currently I’m Spanish Club, Cross Fit, and Film. I’ve played Basketball for a season, Track as well and plan to continue track for my remaining years. Do I have a pretty good shot in getting in?
I was there
Hey I’m from the future
Isher boy? Stop saying that. You're not anybody's "boy".

I’m stuck between Davis and Sb which one would you choose for pre med
Hi Isabella, well I really can’t say which one is better without showing any biases. But I can let you know that both of these schools have so many pre med opportunities for their undergrads. I really liked ucsb, but I know people at Davis that loved it there. So I say just grab a piece of paper and write the pros and cons of both schools, this can really help you decide.
www. Vaxpain.us All fact no opinion. I could never endorse something experimental never used. I would feel immense guilt. That's just me. Please consider reading reported side effects. You can also report of you have taken and have side effects.
So helpful!

Hey I got into UCSB as a bio major but I’m afraid that it’ll be too hard to get a good GPA for med school :( what do u think about the rigor ?
You are so encouraging and helpful. I just got admitted as a pre-biology student to UCSB and I'm nervous to approach all of the work but your advice is making my worries melt away so I can focus on my passion. You're the absolute best.
I coming out of high school and didn’t take chemistry in high school, but I took biology and biochemistry, n physics. I’m kinda worried if I won’t be able to keep up but I want to learn chemistry. So I appreciate the tips
Here is my advice when studying General Chemistry especially when taking the first course: 1. Do not underestimate the difficulty of General Chemistry. When I was a freshmen in college, I thought my first quarter of General Chemistry or Chem 1A (at UCR and not UCSB) was going to be a review of high school chemistry (I took it in the 11th grade[I took Honors Conceptual Physics in 9th grade and Biology in the 10th grade]) all over again (which is partially true). However, I found Chem 1A to be on par with the difficulty of AP Chemistry and I had a tough chemistry professor. He was so tough that 40%-50% of the class got a D or an F or withdrew in the class. Luckily, I withdrew from the class because I do not think it was worth continuing the course. But, he treated this class like an honors general chemistry class and had some topics from O-chem in the class. Not to mention, he wants 100% on homework and he wants one clicker question right each class. If you violated those rules six times, you get an F regardless of your score. If you get an F on the final, you flunk the class. He was the worst Chemistry professor I ever had. My point is that you should never underestimate the difficulty of this course or any college course. 2. Not only should you do the homework (both written and online) and the practice exams (if there is any), assign yourself more Chemistry problems (especially challenging problems). If you can do the challenging Chemistry problems, I will guarantee the exams will be a breeze. 3. Seek help from the professor, TA or a tutor and find a productive study group. If you do all three pieces of advice, I will guarantee you will pass Chemistry if not get excellent grades in Chemistry.
@@123ucr thank you I will take this advice.
Hey! So UCSB is my top school and I really feel like I could have an average shot. I’ve played football freshman year, jv waterpolo/swim sophomore year, and I’m now sticking to varsity swim for my junior and senior year. I had a 3.75 gpa unweighted my sophomore year, I’m going to end up with a 4.17 gpa weighted my junior year(3.83 unweighted)I’m a really good essay writer. And I hope to get around 1450-1500 for my sat, 30-34 for my act. Add on community service hours campaigning this election, What are my chances? Please be realistic:(
Hi! In general, is it difficult to obtain good grades at UCSB (especially in the sciences)? Would you say many of the students are cutthroat here even in the general Ed courses?
I love writing essays, I’ve done over 200 hours of volunteer hours with the Colorado park rangers (a state heavily effected by wildfires). Elected a team captain of a sport at me school, CPR certified and worked as a life guard , and yet I feel like it will be my rlly low GPA that let’s me down.
Yo thanks so much bro for the help! I am an incoming freshman trying to learn how to use guachospace and this helped a lot.
I gaucho back 😊
Nice Erfan ... thank you for your help on GauchoSpace navigation as I am a new 2020 Transfer Student. Very helpful.
My pleasure, and welcome to the UCSB family :)
I really want to go to UCSB. I’ve played soccer for my entire life (club and school). I’ve gotten several jobs as a sideline referee, and I even volunteered for this program to play soccer with special needs kids. Other than that, I have a few extracurriculars at my school. My weighted GPA is 3.8 and I took at least 4 honors courses each year of high school and 2 APs my junior year. The issue is my unweighted GPA isn’t the best(3.2). I’m stressing out because I don’t know how I can make myself appealing with a low GPA. Does anyone have advice?
👍🏾😄 thank you
Nice job Erfan, This is definitely a great video for new incoming students. I remember being lost on Gauchospace too when I started, so this is sure to help out lots of newcomers. Keep up the great work. :)
Thanks big help! Now I can sign up for UCSD classes 👍
The issue that I’m worried about is that when I apply I will apply with about a 3.75 gpa but my school has a maximum gpa of 4.0 so hopefully UCSC understands why it’s so low
life saver! Im planning to transfer to ucsb , these are amazing resources . Will definitely be saving these videos.
Glad it was helpful! More on the way ;)
Omg. Your advice is so genuine and so helpful i can’t tell you how much i appreciate all of these videos!!
Omg i’m so glad I found your channel!! This is so helpful for Pre-bio majors attending ucsb!!!
Can u give tips and advice about research opportunities at ucsb??
Hey!! Thank you for your kind messages!! I am actually going to create a video on this very soon :) but to answer your question, there are a lot of research opportunities on campus and all you have to do is to talk with the professor that is conducting that research and ask if they would let you work in their lab. In my video I will talk about the tips I used to get in. Stay tuned!!
SOOOO HELPFUL
Hi! I was wondering if there are any human anatomy or physiology with lab classes since their prerequisites for the med school I plan to attend in the near future?
Hey! UCSB has physiology class but not the lab unfortunately. You can always sign up to take classes at community college though!!
Wonderful video, Erfan! I especially like tip #7 :)
Thank you Megan!!
thanks for looking out, good tips bruv
Mental health is, indeed, very important! Great video!
👍🏼
Very helpful ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Hi! Any recommended professor for biochemistry and physics?
Hey Erfan I sent you an email last week on some questions about ucsb not sure if you got it
Hey! Did you send the email to erftennis@gmail.com?
ErfMed hey I just checked I sent it to your old one I believe, I’ll resend it to this email thanks man
ErfMed just sent it 👍🏻
