Woodturning- Natural Edge Cherry Crotch Bowl
Been very busy with projects around the house but I finally got around to making this bowl out of a piece of Cherry tree that I've had sitting in my collection for a while. I love the way it smells when cutting, just like Cherries! Finished the bowl with some Shellac and Polyurethane and I really like the way the bowl turned out. Thanks for watching, take care.

Woodturning- Eucalyptus Bowl
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This Bowl was turned from a piece of Eucaylptus that my brother found cut up on the side of the road. He brought me this piece as well as another larger one that I have lined up to go on the lathe. I really liked cutting this wood because it cut pretty easy and it has beautiful grain color in my opinion. The wood also felt much denser than other pieces I've made. Thank you all for watching!
Wood Turning- Cutting Bowl Blanks and Boards
มุมมอง 3462 ปีที่แล้ว
It was time to cut up some bowl blanks so I got my chainsaw saw and let er' rip. I did a piece of Cedar, Cherry, and a piece of Sycamore which I didnt film unfortunately. I plan on using the Cedar for some other project and making bowls out of the Cherry and Sycamore. My chain was definitely dull so I have a lot of chain sharpening to do. Thanks for watching!
Wood Turning- Sweetgum Crotch Natural Edge Bowl
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Made this bowl out of what I believe is Sweet Gum. I got this piece from a recent windstorm we had that toppled a tree outside of where I work. I took home this crotch piece and hoped it would make a cool bowl and I think it turned out pretty good. I was excited to see how the grain would look with the crotch. I had a couple little accidents which is why there are lines all over the piece but I...
Wood turning- Jewelry Holder Bowl (Christmas Gift)
มุมมอง 6672 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi all, hope everyone had a good Christmas and is getting ready for the new year. I made this bowl out of a piece of redwood I had from a little while ago. I'm not a big fan of Redwood so I'm glad i was able to find use for this bowl blank i had already cut. My sister was back home from college and was disappointed that I hadn't made her a bowl since I've been giving my bowls to my other family...

In my opinion the most satisfying part of woodworking is finishing. In this case, with some boiled linseed oil
Wood Turning- Large Cedar Bowl

Went on a camping trip and brought home a large piece of Cedar and decided to turn it into a bowl. Love the way this wood smells. Definitely the largest bowl I have ever made. Thanks for watching!
Easy Food Safe Beeswax Wood Finish
มุมมอง 4.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Made some beeswax Polish for my bowls out of beeswax bars that I had. I used to put the bar directly to the bowl and found that it didnt work as well as I had liked. This formula worked for me, plus it smells pretty darn good. Thanks for watching!
Woodturning- Small Black Walnut Bowl
มุมมอง 30K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Turned another bowl with my favorite wood so far..... Black Walnut. Filled in a small hole with a little bit of epoxy. I got a catch, as seen in the video, but luckily the bowl didnt get too banged up. Finished the bowl with some Sanding Sealer and then a little Beeswax. Thanks for watching!
Woodturning- Natural Edge Maple Bowl
มุมมอง 15K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Used up some Maple I've had sitting around with some slight spalting. The bark was still in decent shape so I decided to try my hand at some natural edge bowls. I was able to get two bowls out of this log and they were finished with sanding sealer and beeswax.
Woodturning- Walnut Burl Bowl
มุมมอง 3.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Small piece of a walnut burl that was going to go to the burn pile but decided to toss it on the lathe and see what would come out. Couple of holes here and there but overall I'm happy with it. Finished it with a little polyurethane, thanks for watching!
Woodturning - Redwood Bowl with Beeswax Finish
มุมมอง 5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Got some Redwood from a friends house and was able to get 3 bowl blanks out of it. I got a lot of torn- out grain and felt like the wood just didn't cut as good as other woods but never the less finished two bowls after lots of sanding. Finished the bowls with a little sanding sealer, then some beeswax

$70 Cheap 18in Oregon Electric Chainsaw; Unboxing and Testing
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Bought this 18 inch Oregon CS1500 Electric Chainsaw on Ebay for $70 a couple weeks ago. It'll mostly be used to cut up bowl blanks but I'm interested to see how long it will last being that it's only $70. One feature that I find interesting is the built in sharpening stone that self sharpens the chain in about 3 seconds with the simple push of a lever.
Woodturning- Poplar Bowl from Log with Polyurethane Finish
มุมมอง 8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This bowl was made from a felled Poplar tree on our property. It was finished using a coat of sanding sealer followed by some polyurethane. I then applied some beeswax to give it a little shine. I'm new to woodturning so any advice is welcomed. Thank you for watching!

Why didn’t you run the saw for enough time to make sure bar oil was flowing…or did I miss that part?

I was so tempted to buy one (They are $103 now, 2024). As I have a tall stump and a few branches to cut from a large tree ... but I can't justify the space it would take up for a thing that would be awesome ... for about 5 cuts.

Probably the best chainsaw for a relatively small property homeowner you can get. It's got tons of power, and self sharpening. The corded part sucks, but if you only need it every once in a while, it's phenomenal for even large cuts.

Have you thought about soaking a heavy coat of shellac to stiffen up the fibers before your final cuts ? Might help keep the tear out down .also is there a reason for going with beeswax finish on this piece ?

    • @novicewoodturner5621
      @novicewoodturner5621 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'll have to try that shellac trick, the tear out is very annoying and can ruin a project very quickly. I went with beeswax because I like that it's natural and food safe and I have a decent amount of it lol. Thanks for watching!

Always good to see some chainsaw action! When I started with turning, I only cut bowl blanks. Only after some time you learn that slabs of 3 to 4 inches are very useful too. You can still make bowl or cut them into square stock on the table saw. And both sides of a tree are default bowl blanks anyway so you'll always have enough of those.
