Although I chose, ’The Greatest Generation’ for this slide-show, the sentiment is shared with each and every generation that served. All we've been given By those who came before The dream of a nation Where freedom would endure The work and prayers of centuries Have brought us to this day What shall be our legacy? What will our children say? Let them say of me I was one who believed In sharing ...

Mayberry - Home Again (The Andy Griffith Show)
I grew up watching The Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver, and Father Knows Best, to name a few
If they made a wholesome family show like that today it would be wonderful.
I never took to the Don Knotts character, but I loved the decent, manly stability of Andy Griffith very much. Loved Opie!
I loved Dons movies but I wish he had stayed two more years the show was never the same it wasn’t near as good when he left.
I love it when Dan or Bernie gets drunk off the water
I agree, if I want to escape from life, I go straight to this show! Andy griffith, Mayberry is like taking a Valium
I am thinking right now of a long ago episode of 'The Twilight Zone' where the main character played by William Shatner, gets on a train and travels to a make believe idyllic little town..and decides to stay... That's how l feel about Mayberry... I want to go there, and never leave..😊
This was great. I was most impressed with the courage Elinor Donohue showed describing her personal viewpoint and a soft side many would keep to themselves. (possbly a different episode of this series). I didn't realize also that she was the same actress from Father Knows Best, really impressive - such a different character, and obviously a different stage of life.
Amazing show
"Cage sure looks empty now, don't it Paw?" "Yes, son it sure does. But don't the trees sound nice and full?"
There would have bee no show with out the Barney character..there would have been no show without Andy. It was the chemistry of the two that made the show
Old shows like this will be watched somewhere by somebody until the end of humanity. Nothing on TV these days will be.
If you've never been to Mount Airy in North Carolina (Mayberry) it's a MUST DO
I like otis the town drunk 😂
How bout the darlings? They could sang good.
Andy played lonsome 🌹
My fav was odis kambull
Very valuable. I remember traveling down to Miami to watch this corps and was flabbergasted they didn't make Finals. It was a very good corps.
Greatest show EVER on TV!
3:46 Chills.
the cave episode- probably one of my favorites- mr mac beevie - barnies car- the bratty bicycle kid- where opie and andy have a father son is my very favorite - the speech is serious and comedy at the same moment- brilliant acting and writing
This show will last forever everybody remembers it and how great it was it is a shame how Ron Howard guided him across that stage and told everybody for him not letting him speak for himself but parading him around saying this is what he wants for that election I have never had respect for Ron Howard afterwards and never will I think he grew up into a little jerk instead of what his daddy Andy would have been liked him to have been shame on him
Amazing that these things stay airborne !!!!
I am related to Andy. His dad’s mother was a Taylor and Andy shares a set of grandparents with my family.
Are any of these your personal pictures? They look very authentic! Love the one of the dude with the TV and encyclopedias at 1:08 :)
Nope....just random pictures. Thanks for watching...!
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen And I agree that an elected Sheriff doesn’t have to answer to a town Mayor Elinore Donahue was an absolute Babe!! And aunt Bee was a saint Opie was just a good kid Barney made the show!!!
They Had A Strange Way Of Showing It , If They Didn't Laugh At Someone Making Fun Of Someone Doing Jokes On Someone ECT The Way Everyone Did Donn Knotts
Griffin and Knott's one of the best comedy teams in tv history.😂😂😂
The woman who played Ellie really sold herself short. I LOVED Ellie. Felt she was a quite a standout character. So endearing.
When I think of heaven I picture Mayberry.
I loved Elinor Donahue on the show--some very funny episodes!
Andy Griffith Show and the original Twilight Zone. The two greatest shows in television history and depends on the day which is my absolute favorite.
I'd conjure that any LONG RUNNING show has to have great chemistry.
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
❤. Love Andy and crew.
Reading some of these comments made me realize it wasn’t just me that watched this show for comfort. When I go through tough times, I always binge watch the Andy Griffith Show. It puts my life in perspective.
Elinor is the epitome of class.
It is always a way to go home just watching the show gives you peace
One of the top 5 shows all time and how incredible of Andy to give Don that credit and the humility, honor, values, and congruence and character there was in this show and cast! I miss these times desperately. There should be an "Andy Griffith National Day" to honor the cast, values and show and America! Same with Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross.
Such a humble interview. Andy gives so much credit to Don Knotts
This is my evening go-to Monday through Friday helps relax me in the evening before bed. Still one of television's all time great shows
One of the greatest well written shows of all time.
My earliest memories sitting too close to the TV again sit back Ronald! 📺 ❤️ 🍼 😊
Elinor, A Real Beauty, Inside and Out.
Idiot interviewing never watched the show!
Me and my 12 yo daughter have started watching the Andy Griffith from season 1 episode 1 and now we are at season 3 and this show might be the most feel good life lesson show to ever be in tv. God bless Andy, Don and Ron
We still use the catchphrases like Nippet in the bud and aunt bee call the man. But it’s interesting to know that Don Knotts didn’t do well with those movies. The first one the ghost and Mr. chicken was a take off of the haunted house episode on the Andy Griffith show. And the first script that Don got was so terrible the Andy and Don spent the weekend rewriting it. And Don took no riders credit or got paid but helped Don just because he was his friend. That movie is one of my all-time favorite movies. I loved the one about the computer hacking thing with the city government job. I think the name fig was used had a frame a fig I think. It had a lot of well-known character actors as did the ghost chicken movie. And who can forget Mr. limpet. One of my favorite Andy Griffith episodes is not the ones that everyone else loves. The refrigerator for the freezer show with getting it wholesale and it not working and he kept saying aunt Bea call the man. With the dogs following her down the street with all the defrosting beef in the wagon. And then there’s the loaded goat episode. And the motorcycle one is a classic as is Barney giving the governor a parking ticket and getting drunk because Otis dumped his liquor into the water dispenser. And the still at the sister‘s house. All very classic episodes oh and Opie’s newspaper yeah that was really good.
Ron Howard the least favorite character on the show.
Andy Griffith was an incredibly gifted actor, and a naturally witty and funny man. Andy could have very easily carried the show on his own if he had too,but Andy also had good insight and the ability to see the talent in others and let them shine. Andy did that with Don,he also discovered and was responsible for giving Jim Nabors his big break and own show,Gomer Pyle USMC. Andy also believed very much in Jerry Van Dyke and helped him along. I love Andy and Don. They were magic together. Don wanted to be a team with Andy, and said he regretted leaving The Andy Griffith Show. And the tone of the show changed forever when Don left. Jack Burns couldnt fill his shoes. I am reading the book "Andy and Don" right now.
My granddaughters are now watching this show and love it. I recently took them to Mt. Airy, NC (aka Mayberry) and they had a wonderful time riding in Barney's squad car. The show is timeless.
