I don't really know all the story but I saw somewhere that the reason why in the beginning of his mv his name was reflected was because when he is behind the camera his name is normal but when he's filmed the text is reversed to represent his perspective

Is tbe mirroed image not the ither side as in welcime to the other sude. And the blue not the hybrid the ruler of the other side

I liked that mirror theory! It can also be backed up by a scene in Scaredy Cat when he's singing into the microphone and they do a quick pan to the reflective ceiling in which you see Mito!

What if, all this time, Mr. Insanity, coming from his name is the Insane like super Insane? We heard his lyrics on Don't Go Insane MV, the last part one "I've waited endlessly all night, looking up at all the fireflies in the sky. I've made it carefully to your side, that's when the lights turned and you were just a lie." You said that Mr. Insanity is the only one who see the butterflies, and maybe the fireflies. All of his creation is just his hallucinations

Hello, your theories are so great and very helpful. I have these theories, too. In 'So I dance" MV, we saw Mr. Green and Mr. Insanity running away from Mito and going towards the door. We never see them reach the door in the MV, and we can see that Mito's smoke (power) is near them. As Mito said in one of his MV, "You created me in your image and now its time create mine in yours." So I think, when they get into that door, it's the born of "The Hybrid". We can see that in 'Don't Go Insane', while Mr. Insanity singing the part "Why don't you wanna stay? You just wanna trip me out." Mito's smoke is trying to take over on Mr. Insanity's Body. And I think that Mr. Insanity is trying to tell Mito to stay on 'The Other Side' and don't ruin his Creation. Mr. Insanity, is changing his looks as you said. He's more like Clown before and now into something Mix of Clown and Mito's face. The cross in Mr. Insanity face is white before and now turned into red. And as the time pass by, instead of not going insane, he went more insane. As Christian said before that the title 'Don't Go Insane" is actually the opposite of the lyrics of the entire song. At the end of the song, we saw a new character, which is I think the Face of 'The Hybrid'.

Wait so Ian's subconscious, after a trauma, created Mr.Insanity aka the clown god, who instead created the other side and Mito, the Scaredy Cat and other creations we don't know yet, right? But if it's Ian who created Mr.Insanity and not the opposite, why Mito (who is after Mr.Insanity's creations) is after Ian too?

Ian said that the graveyard insanity woke up in don't go insane is Calico. And that only mr insanity can see the butterflies(he said that this can be a spolier).

I’d like to know why you think Insanity is the Clown God. Has Christian mentioned that in any of his videos or lives? I know that Insanity becomes more clown-like the deeper he dives into Ian’s subconscious but he doesn’t seem like the creator of the universe. He seems more like an explorer of it. Also, Christian mentioned in the Say What interview that Insanity came before Mito, which I think can be interpreted as after a manic high (Insanity), a low (Mito) is around the corner; or that in order for Mito to come into full existence, Insanity needs to go on his adventure. He also mentioned that Mito is trying to stop Insanity from opening too many doors in Ian’s subconscious because he’s worried about what he’ll find, so I don’t think Mito is manipulating Insanity’s actions. Like you said, Insanity doesn’t think about the consequences of his actions and is willing to push the limits of his (and Ian’s) sanity to find something or just go on what I think is a pretty fun adventure lol, and maybe all Mito is trying to do is stop him. I like that you brought in the idea of time not being lineal and parallel timelines in this world because as I mentioned, Yu has said that Insanity comes before Mito, so seeing Mito in So I Danced always confuses me because it feels like he shouldn’t be there in that timeline and he just travelled back in time to stop him from going too far. But that’s just my head canon.

Hi! First, I loved your two videos about the whole lore, it really helped me notice some things I hadn’t before (since I’m a new Dreamer!) I do wanna ask you something though! Has Ian ever mentioned that the Clown God is Mr. Insanity or is that your interpretation? Because what’s making me confused is.. in Don’t Go Insane/so I Danced, we see Ian starting to become more and more insane, therefore the name “Mr. insanity” for the character, but we know that at the same time MITO already exists, right? Since he is trying to go after Insanity to stop him from opening more doors. So how could Mr. Insanity have been the creator of the universe (or the “Clown God”, that Ian has mentioned)?? Timeline wise it doesn’t make sense to me 😭 I always interpreted the Clown God as the creator of the universe, and of MITO (before MITO became jealous and flew too close to the sun/sky and then fell and became the fallen angel we see him now as.), and then, only later in the storyline, that Mr. Insanity is introduced, as a representation of Ian’s manic highs. So I would like to know how you would explain, in your interpretation, how can Mr. insanity and the clown god who created MITO be the same entity/“person”? I’m really curious to understand your thoughts 🥹 /gen (P.S. sorry for such a long comment omg 😭 I struggle to explain my point without writing too much 😭)

Stuff not being exactly chronological even within music videos tracks with me as while I don’t have DID, I do have dissociate maladaptive daydreams as a coping mechanism and occasionally it’s one chronological of ‘plot’ (for lack of a better word) within the larger ongoing universe that’s been going on in my mind most of my life. usually it’s more like darting between different parts of the plot for different kinds of stress and they bleed into each other and shift over time. Like in “don’t go insane” he’s the werewolf and zombie version of mr insanity at the same time even though they’re clearly at different points in the characters arc and it’s not just cutting between. elements and moves are bleeding between them. Ian says Mr Insanity was fronting for some of the werewolf shot so that sort of explains the change in vibe but it was still choreographed and costumed before hand so I’ll count it as feasibly intentional.

Thank you for this video and I can't wait for more stunning works from him. Ian really knows how to channel his personal stories into artwork. Also Ian did mention recently that Limbo and Skins are going to be released in his next EP about a hybrid, so I love your take on Limbo being a place between heaven and hell actually makes so much sense.

I’m a bit confused here, if while insanity is planning the heist and mito is recreating the wizard of oz and ian was kidnapped and left in that house, did insanity kidnap him beforehand😭😅?? my brain just went to restart

Ian talked about the higher power recently in one of his instagram live, calling it 'The Hybrid'. That Limbo is the product of The Hybrid. Also, he said we'll get to know it's name in his next EP (if I understood everything correctly)

ARE U PPL HIRING??? because i felt so recognised. i dont have bipolar disorder but i have always felt me being different person with different ppl and situations and the character mitto is what i feel when feel my lowest and mr insanitys use of colours and the use of lights and sparks in his mv is what i feel when i am not technically happy but like when i think i am in my highest or happiest moment idk how to explain . well love this guy and thanks for your interpretation <3

Thank you very much for these videos. I want to paint some paintings inspired by DPR IAN, but first I want to understand this world he created. So everything is very helpful. At first I thought it was mostly about depressive episodes and mania, but it's much more complicated than that though. Can you recommend me some interviews where he talks about his songs and the world he created?

Discovered DPR IAN a week ago and was really confused by the existing of the lore itself. So thank you for your videos, they helped a bit to understand wtf is going on. Still confused, but at least have some info to think about at sleepless nights :D

What confuses me, is Mr Insanity created Mito yeah? But, presuming its Mr Insanity thats in So I Danced, Mr Insanity doesnt seem to know who mito is (says something like "So thats mito?" To the green guy), why doesnt Insanity remember/know Mito, if he is his creator

Thank you for your theory video. Just wondering if Christian made à clown god as starting point of his storyline because he was into C-Clown previously. I guess Chrristian has still a ton of things to tell in his MVs :)

Little update: He also has DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) in short he has multiple personalities, which means that Mito, Insanity and the others are real (they are his alters). The biggest trigger to make them front is when he goes into a manic low or high (That's why DID and bipolar can come hand in hand) . When he goes low the trauma he went thought will resurface because his body and mind won't be in a great condition that's when Mito comes to protect him. He is what we call a "persecutor alter" because he holds all the traumas that Ian couldn't handle. And when he goes manic high it will trigger Insanity to come (Obviously they can front for multiples things, even a little thing can make them come to the front). They are their own person, love different things, talk differently, like and dislike different things...

Just to throw it out there, Ian wasn't having a panic attack. He was having a manic episode. Christian talks about his diagnosis of bipolar (im using the term bipolar because its the most common word perople use and understand) and mentions that the scene of him in the hotel room is about when his episodes come at the worst times. Like right in the middle of him being kidnapped.

Honestly, as a new fan of DPR, I had a small gist of what the lore might be but you made everything just so so so much clearer so thank you so much for that!! After watching the 'So I Danced' MV (SID), I feel like your theory towards the end makes so much sense because I'm assuming that the character in SID is Mr. Insanity and throughout the MV he's trying to get the key to open the door with the green man. And maybe that door leads to the same room that Ian entered when he opened the door at the end of the Mito Movie Part 1, meaning he probably saw Mr. Insanity there.
