Un-modifying a Tokyo Drift legend : Nissan 350Z Episode 1
มุมมอง 20027 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this episode I introduce my new Nissan 350Z and we start taking off the horrible mods !
dump it and drop in a Chev Ls 6.0 or 6.2 and Auto. 450hp and no oil leaks or lucal electric BS.
Operation well taken
Up until now, great work.👍👍 But have you already acquired the special accompanying Jaguar clothing ? th-cam.com/video/rLtFIrqhfng/w-d-xo.html
And your thoughts Josh.. On the 'new' Jaguar rebranding...
Please tell me you renewed the core plugs ?…
I am very much looking forward to how this progresses. I am in the process of a roof chop on an xj coupe to make it exactly like the original car Sir William Lyons had for it, instead of having to use the standard 4 door shell as he was made to do by BMC
Good job .
nice job, love the rocker covers, looking forward to hear the old girl running.
That I think is an engine block from a late series 3 if I am not mistaken
looks the same as my 420G
Well similar, except your has a short stud block and if you look on this one you see the slots between the cylinders? This was only from factory on the very last ones made in the mid 80's because the block casting tools were all worn out and the truth is the late blocks not only cracked between cylinders but would shift too, leading to constantly blown head gaskets. However, it is also common for all mid 70's on blocks to crack between the siamesed bores, often without blowing head gaskets for many miles. So some diligent shops when they do head gasket changes also slotted the blocks as a precaution. Ideally you need a more specialised gasket to keep a good seal because i guarantee you, your 420g engine will go many, many more miles between head gaskets than this one will.
Best combination in my experience to build the best 4.2 engine was an early 4.2 block and a series 3 injected head, even if you still keep carbs. But be careful the 4.2 is not too early as they have different oilways and you will find you are leaking oil out the back left of the motor if they do not match on both sides of the head gasket. As for carbs, 2 x 2" SU hd8's are unbeatable on an xj6. If you cant get those then use early 2" hs8's. But throttle bodies is the ultimate way to go.
@ lovely, thanks for the info.
@@kennethtalbott2233 I am not a professional builder, but I have lost count of how many of these I have had and done over the years, and everything I have told you here works, and works well, because I have done it many times. Hope it helps in some way. I have many, many parts for these cars too if you get stuck
new Sub. great video looking forward to seeing you work..GN
🤗❤️👍💯👏
Great job,Josh. I was a young lad in the late 60's, and my cousin who worked for Jaguar at the time, gave me a conducted tour of the assembly line, during the summer shutdown of the factory. I remember drooling over these beauties sitting silently on the production line.
That is jolly good 👍
Interesting content, however could do without the head banger music
Love the old Xj’s. This is gonna look cool👌🏻
Looking forwards to seeing this Project as a Jaguar enthusiat myself here in France in the Mayenne whereabouts are you ?
Loved thecam covers, they looked great, but why aren't you puting a manual box on it? It would transform the car. There's always qudos to an XJ6 on, manual transmission. Great project, subscribing. :)
Are you based in France.
Yes in Tours
@JoshTurner37 did live and work out there before Brexit happened now it's so much more difficult. Really looking forward to seeing the end result of the oh la la jaguar. I also feel in love with the stunning XJC from restomoods. Just thinking the XJC is such a stunning looking Jag did see the restoration of Harry's garage with his an also the one called Emma that was sold last year buy the chap who did Harry's. Really well made video of what you're doing thank you for sharing this project
What piston rings did you use? Curious what coating they have, they look completely black.
7:09 geil!
Owned an XJ in the 80’s, great car but everything broke and even the rust rusted, appalling build quality even for its time. Your ‘to do’ list will be massive and very costly.
Those head covers look 👌 👏 👍
Holy cow that's a massive undertaking. I'm in 😂
Hi Josh, I was interested in your new video as I have done a similar thing with an XJ6 and you have even a picture of my car "FLASHB" on your intro. As I live in New Zealand I wondered how you got the photo? Stephen
Hi Stephen, I have been scoping internet for years looking for Restomod Jaguars, I can't remember exactly where I found yours but I must salute you sir, you have made a beautiful and inspiring car !
@@JoshTurner37 An article was printed in the Australian Jag magazine years ago. I can send you a pdf of it if you like. Stephen
Engine failure imminent ......
Thanks...
Why. ??
Looks great!
Thank you, I appreciate it
Like that cart the engine & GB are on, did you find plans for that or just putt it together?
Its one my dad built years ago to put a V8 on, but the Jag engine fits quite nicely
Did you change the cylinder head studs ? I believe that they are one time use items.
Motor looks good, but I would really like to see a V12 and 5 speed manual in it. Still that's not a restoration of the original vehicle.
Looks great, please turn the background music down!
Thanks ! Got it will do 👍
Cam covers look great.
Bought my first XJ when I was 19, have had five since that, currently a Daimler Series 3, and I’m sixty now! In other words, I’m really enjoying this rebuild. The rocker covers look amazing, a bit like my son’s electric guitar! Lol. Subbed, and waiting for more. Well done.
Pistons don’t look that clean dude? Did you put a wire brush over that sump?
Do it right dude, I’m so stoked to see what you’re gonna do. I had a XJ 6L I loved it.
Thanks man, new episodes coming weekly!
giving your old man some stick for getting in away of the camera 😂 (just can't get the staff these days) got a feeling it's going to be a cool build
@@terrywrist8448 aside working on old Jags giving my dad some stick is my favorite hobby 😂 thanks I appreciate the comment
Just got an 83 XJ6. Enjoying it so far and your videos are making me excited to keep working on it. Keep up the great work🙌🏽

Thanks Ben ! Yeah the cam covers were a lucky mistake 😂
The serial 2 was the best looker of the xj's especially the coupe
Yes I would love a coupe one day 😍
I’ve had two of the coupes years ago. Drove beautiful. Lovery looking cars still. ❤
Best of luck with your nightmare/dream resto… I finished a S3 V12 just over two years ago. Never have I undertaken a project where so much damage is linked so closely via rust. Never again.
Subscribed! Working with my son on a '77 coupe (XJ6) at the moment, no restomod plans, but curious to see what your plans are. Good luck with the build and thanks for sharing!👊
Wow beautiful car the coupe 😍 thanks for subscribing 🙏

Thanks ! Long way to go yet but it’s coming along 👍
Good luck Josh - I’m looking forward to the next video already. XJs are beautiful cars - I’m sure that you will make this one look great again. Please keep including lots of mechanical details in your videos - we armchair mechanics love all of that! Peter
