Opal Drumline Cadence
My first cadence to have been posted in a while and in 2021. Apologies to everyone that I've kept waiting. I've had quite a schedule to handle and felt unmotivated to do anything music related for a long while. But hey I think I'm back now.
Opal is a level 3 cadence designed for intermediate high schools or colleges. Bring this one to the parade or the stadium. The crowd will love it! (Honestly, running out of ways to describe my cadences lol)
Minimum Instrumentation:
1 Marching Snare Drum
1 5-Drum Marching Tenor
5 Tonal Marching Basses
2 Sets of Cymbals
Recommended Set: 4S, 2T, 5B, 4C

No. The video quality makes one of the eighth notes look like a sixteenth note.

How did you get your Virtual Drumline to sound better? The one I have has weird rolls (it could be since I'm using MuseScore 4 which is still pretty buggy) but still!

What VDL bass drum soundset did you map to in Cakewalk? The basses sound more articulate with a more refined attack than the stock VDL 2.5 sounds, so I was curious if maybe you mapped it to VDL 1, or otherwise adjusted the bass drums in some way?
Nice cadence, but the tap off is written incorrectly compared to how it sounds. On beat 3 of measure 2 you’re missing a sixteenth note rest. Unless if it’s just hard to see and there is a sixteenth note and an eighth note together. Otherwise, it’s very creative! Well done!
It is hard to see actually since the video resolution is at 720p. M2 B3 is 16th rest, 16th left, and then 8th right. You can download the PDF in the description through dropbox just to be sure
Looking at it myself, the old style I used with MuseScore 3's initial launch is hard to read. I don't think it is an issue with my newer cadences however

How were you able to stack the whole notes and the 16ths?
I put them on different voices. You can do this in MuseScore by selecting the Voices feature in the toolbar or by pressing Ctrl + Alt + (Voice Number).

Hey I was wondering how you made the MDL sound have less reverb? Mine is has a lot of reverb whereas your sounds like it has less reverb. I was also wondering if there is a way to make the MDL accents louder or the taps softer because right now the difference between a non accented note and an accented note is almost not noticeable for anything I write.
It's a filter in your synthesizer. Simply set the mix to dry. (Edit > Synthesizer > 3rd tab > 2nd to last knob)

@@DanielMakesCadences that’s alright. I managed to copy the cadence note-by-note into Musescore 3 and listen to it from there. I can record it and give it to you to save you some time if you decide to make separate tracks
