It def sounds a million times better but I often wonder if I should have taken it out bc I think it would sound just right with the DB killer out. Imo it's still too quiet with the silencer in and I'm willing to bet they could have gotten more HP out of the bike with the silencer out. If you get a chance I'd love to hear yours when its done. The exhaust smell shouldn't be particularly strong. With tuning and proper fuel mapping you should be running exactly correct stoichiometric ratio in your particular elevation. If you're smelling cold-start exhaust, that's one thing. Factory runs lean most times anyway. With the catalyzer installed, the smells are generally modified.

    • @jasonfararooei5722

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jasonfararooei5722 I will have to check with the salesman in a shop over here in Sweden that has a used -12 for sale if the saddlebags will fit with any aftermarket exhaust. The only thing that is missing from this bike, is the sound of any other V4 bike like the Tuono or even the VFR800F, those bikes sounds amazing. I have heard this bike with a full system without catalytic converters on it and it still sounds kinda boring. Def not one of the sexier motorcycle sounds which is a shame since it is a nice engine configuration which in other bikes sounds great. Other than the sound this bike rides amazing, good acceleration, great top speed and it actually turns! Even though she is heavy for a sport bike it is one of those amazing feelings where the manufacturer really hid it's weight in a magical way =) The used 2012 one at the dealer is in black color and I do not know if its default from factory or if previous owner changed it but it has really good LED front lights and they have that white almost "blueish" light that you see on newer cars (xenon lights) that matches the bike in black really good. So that VFR1200F actually looks really decent for being a big, 12 year old sport tourer and they sell it for 7000€ with OEM panniers, heated grips and only 15000 miles on her. I think it is a lot of bike for the money, being Honda I can put 4 times as many miles on her on my alp trips in Europe every summer without being worried about something breaking =)

    Hey Jason, with the tune is the bike still somewhat tamed? I have one as well, but haven’t been riding long and like the fact that it doesn’t want to stand out under hard throttle. Does Chris’s tune change that? Or did you ask him to make it easier to wheelie or not to. I’m sure he can tune it either way, just curious. Thanks and ride safe!

    • @jasonfararooei5722
      @jasonfararooei5722 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's up Adam, I hope you're well. In short, the tune absolutely unleashes the power of the bike. In all the modes minus Rain, you've got access to the entire motor and ecu tables in an unrestricted format. This is why I would def not classify it as tame, and call it the exact opposite. And this is where traction control and custome rider modes come into play. The lowest TC setting resides in sport mode and will let the bike wheelie throughout gears about an inch and that's it (it works incredibly well and is very consistent and reliable). I imagine you could ask Chris or your tuner to (for lack of better way to say it) set your tables to say, 80% or 90% rather than completely unrestricted but if you've got access to rider modes and custom settings, my thinking is why limit yourself at the ecu, make the power refinements at the rider mode levels, since you yourself have control over that. I will say it's a very different motor and bike after the tune. When you get on it, it will naturally wheelie through third. I will also say in sport and custom mode I have a lot more respect for the bike - give the tires a lot more time to be at temp and am very choosey about road surface quality when I do give it the sauce. Side note - I opted for the decel cut delete and am pleased with it. I know a lot of guys are hesitant to do it, but I like it a lot. Overall I'd absolutely do this whole process again with the bike if I had to do it all over again. I hope this helps. Happy riding my friend.

I realize I'll have some pops and crackles with fuel overrun but wanna keep them tamed down. Chris has done enough of these bikes, I'm sure he has a tune that will get me close to my goal. Thanks again for the response and ride safe Sir!

      @@DB-so8zc How is the modified tune working for you? I was thinking of the exact same setup as you from Max Torque. How was the install and cutting the header to make the cat delete work? Thanks

      @@s2k442 Well worth the money! Taking the the throttle limitations off and fixing the fuel cut makes the rideablity of the bike even better. BecauseI kept the factory header my guess is I didn't gain any hp/tq but with the link pipe install and the aftermarket can it sounds (subjective) really nice without being obnoxious. I have put at least 10k miles since the mod with zero issues. As far as the deleting the cat/resonator I removed the header from the bike. The instructions from MT are really good and with a good cutoff wheel the job is simple. I took nearly 23 lbs off the bike with the mod. Link pipe fit great! Ride safe

      @@s2k442I put a full akro system on it which includes the headers. Torque and and HP saw respectable gains. The delivery is what's truly amazing. Even power and torque throughout. Totally different motor. And the unlocked top end is outstanding.

    Which tail bag is that

      It's the Nelson Rigg Commuter Sport Tail Bag. It's been a great bag for me and I have the entire lineup - swap them as trips dictate. Tough, functional and modifiable space, and they truly do not fade in sunlight. Have had mine for 3.5 years now and they look almost brand new. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/nelson-rigg-sport-tail-bag?sku_id=1565686

    Hey mate, just saw your drz400sm video - love the setup. Was going to ask about the license plate setup.. did you buy a kit to mount your plate there, or did you mount it like that yourself? Many thanks from New Zealand!

    • @jasonfararooei5722
      @jasonfararooei5722 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey buddy. Glad you liked the drz setup. Originally I used the TST Industries tiddy tail kit, but with the Yoshi exhaust (and it's deleted db killer) it shook the tail end way too much. Would almost cause the plate to come off. So I used two of the "L" brackets from the kit to under sling the license to the frame. It works, looks super clean, but is probably less than legal. I would also note that airflow from the rear wheel has further pressed the plate into an almost fully horizontal position.

    I wanted (and still do) a VFR1200 but I couldn't find one in my price range. I love that V-4 sound and feel (I had a 1997 honda magna). I ended up getting a 09 concours 14 the past weekend. To bad Honda doesn't make the VFR1200 anymore.

      Yeah it sure sounds bad for a V4 engine. Imagine if it sounded like the Aprilia Tuono V4. I have heard that the VFR 800 sounds better but that bike almost feels like a Yamaha MT-07 powerwise.

      @@mathias6423 The VFR800 has a different crankshaft angle, so it sounds like a crossplane V4. That's the sound we like to hear from a V4, or even a R1 crossplane engine.

I was going to think about buying it over night and just before I leave the shop the salesman start it up, it had the linkpipe without cat on it. 30 minutes later I was home in my garage with the bike , that sound was something else, hooked me =)

      oil doesn't show in the window when you have it on its side stand. The bike must be level to read correctly.
