I'm not a linguist but as a slavic person I just can to guess that word "lab" in phrase: "lab vakar" (good evening) might has a connection to russian (and other slavic) words as: 1. ladny/ladnyj (good/well) - "ladnyj v'echer" or 2. l'uby/l'ubyj/lyubyj (pretty nice/beloved/...smth that sbd likes....in russian "lyuby" from word: " lyubov' /l'ubov' "- love) - " l'ubyj v'echer" or 3. l'epyj/lepy - (all previous meanings + beautiful) - " l'epyj v'echer / lepy vecher"

Just some common words in both (latvian) and russian (and other slavic languages in both cyrillic and latin writings): latvian: english: russian: 1. Сilvēks (human) - человек (chelovek) 2. Thank you Viktorija for the interesting lessons. Just one question: the 11th letter “G” you write with a “bird” on top but in the video the typed word “Gimenes” is with a comma below the G. Is both correct?

I don't think there are many similarities. Yes, some words sound very similar, because we are neighbours and Russian language influence has been very high due to several reasons, but don't forget that we're using a completely different alphabet.

When saying in this instance: zvaigznes ir dzeltana krasa"(or for all mentioned colors), you say it means "stars are in the yellow color, why would the grammar doesn't say instead: zvaigznes ir krasa dzeltens, restructuring the sentence as " stars are of a yellow color" sort of.....?? And why "ir" doesn't change form from a singular to a plural ?? oh, and the grammar is bizarre for masculine nouns to use "s" for singular and "i" for plural, why not do the opposite to simplify things ?

How to determine masculine or feminine?

Hello, My question is, is there have a lists of feminine and masculine noun?

Got a question miss. Though I'm sorry my keyboard doesn't support the "special characters" in it. You said "simti" means 100 so "devini semti" means 900, "devin-desmit" means 90 and devini is 9. If thousand is "tukstosi", shouldn't it been: "devini tukstosi devini simti devin-desmit devini " 9000 900 90 9 From what I can deduce from the board there on which is written: "devini tukstosi devin-desmit devin" would mean: 9099 and not 9999. 9000 90 9 Please people, correct me if I'm wrong. I can count in japanese since they use similar method of calculation, but with a touch of roman counting. Like you guys, once you know from one to ten, all you need to learn are the names for houndred, thousand, ten thousand.....I remember only the houndred.
