How to make Totakura Rice| Delicious Andhra-style rice dish made with Totakura
Totakura Rice is a delicious and aromatic Andhra-style rice dish made with Totakura (a type of leafy green vegetable). This recipe combines the unique flavor of Totakura with a blend of spices for an unforgettable culinary experience.
Ingredients:
Totakura (2 bunches)
Masala Dinchulu:
Cinnamon stick (small piece)
Cloves (1)
Cardamom (1)
Bay leaf
Ginger-garlic paste (1 tsp)
Onion (1)
Tomato (1)
Salt (to taste)
Chili powder (1 tsp)
Coriander powder (1 tsp)
Cumin powder (1 tsp)
Garam masala (1 tsp)
Turmeric powder (1 tsp)
Instructions:
Prepare Totakura: Wash the Totakura thoroughly and chop it finely.
Sauté Masala Dinchulu: Heat oil in a pan and add the masala dinchulu (cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and bay leaf). Sauté until fragrant.
Add Onions and Tomatoes: Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Then, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
Add Totakura: Add the chopped Totakura to the pan and sauté for a few minutes.
Add Spices: Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
Cook Rice: Add washed rice to the pan and mix everything together. Add enough water to cook the rice.
Simmer and Serve: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
