Escudo Navy De Luxe | Review #6 | Five Year Aged Tin Opening At The End
มุมมอง 3426 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I try the king of Virginia and Perique blends, Escudo Navy De Luxe. Is this good enough to deserve the title of best VaPer? Let's find out together. Stick around until the end for a sneak peak at a five year aged tin opening and my next review.
Robert McConnell Scottish Cake | Review #5
มุมมอง 3766 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I am reviewing Scottish Cake by Robert McConnell. This is a Virginia, Perique, Kentucky blend but I don't get a heavy Kentucky in the profile. It acts more as an amplifier to the other VaPer flavors. This is a masterpiece of a mixture to my taste buds. I can't wait to try the other version Scottish Flake.

Orlik Golden Sliced | Review #2 | Must Try Blend!!
มุมมอง 9626 หลายเดือนก่อน
I try my second tobacco, Orlik Golden Sliced. This is a phenomenal tobacco, and I've never had anything quite like it in the cigar world. It has me very excited to continue on this journey of discovery. Is this a home run tobacco? I'd love to hear your thoughts. If you liked the video, please leave a thumbs up and subscribe for more.

Hi YTPC! Pipe Channel Intro Video
มุมมอง 3137 หลายเดือนก่อน
Greetings YTPC. I am a brand new pipe smoker (4 days) and am starting this channel to document my journey and meet all of you amazing people. I talk about my reasons for wanting to start smoking a pipe as well as my goals for this channel. Thanks for checking it out!
It's almost October Andy, where are ya?
The Friday savenelli !
Love Orlik. The “Judge” is shrewd but fair. Perfect summer blend that I find myself smelling the top of the lit bowl as I smoke it!
It was the first VaPer I tried and still one of my favorites. I will always keep this one around. Thanks again for stopping by. Cheers, Andy.
Lol. Cat is awesome!! EMP is an all year every morning blend.
She really is the coolest cat ever. EMP is terrific also. I'm finding that I tend to lean more into VaPer blends, but if I'm going to smoke an English, it's definitely EMP. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Andy.
Cool pipes
Thanks, I've got a few more to show off one day soon.
I’m pretty sure your catch phrase is “Since I don’t have a catch phrase”😁👍🏻
It does seem that is the case now, haha! Thanks for watching my videos until the end! Cheers, Andy.
We’re in the middle of our NC heat/humidity. Fortunately my wife tolerates me smoking in my office.
Lucky! I need to build out a smoking room in my basement one day. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment. Cheers, Andy.
Good morning Andy, great vr for Jesse. Smoking a pipe on warm humid day for me just isn’t enjoyable eh, I’ve waited for the day to end hoping for a cool breeze to blow but as we know it always doesn’t happen and I’m like Gary I’ll grab a smoke early doors before the heat picks up. As always good to see you, have a great weekend fella.
Thanks for stopping by Jonathan! I always appreciate seeing you in the comments. Also, I noticed you surpassed 1,000 subs on your channel. I imagine a video about it is forthcoming, but I'll go ahead and say congratulations now. Cheers, Andy.
Nice to see you Andy! Great VR for a great channel!
Thanks for stopping by friend. Hope you're doing well. Cheers!
Hiyas Andy, In the summer heat and humidity, i tend to limit my piping to very early morning, or later in the evening, if the ambient conditions are conducive. It gets very hot 🥵 and humid here on the southwest corner of Lake Michigan, but nothing like Atlanta. Have you tried folding and stuffing a flake in that pipe chamber? If you arrange your folded flake so that there is an air pocket between it and the bottom of the chamber; you very likely will experience a fantastic smoking session. Pique yer interest? Serene smokes Gary
Hi Gary! I always appreciate the commiseration. 😄 I have not tried folding and stuffing. I'm going to take the advice of a previous commenter and try smoking an English blend and see how that does. Then I will try the fold and stuff after that. I really want to like this thing! Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
Appreciate the update Andy! Sounds like you're having a nice summer. I have to agree, high heat and/or humidity is not pleasant for pipe smoking. Thanks for entering my giveaway, great VR! And thank you for such kind words🥰 as you know, I really enjoy your videos as well! Thanks again and best of luck to you in the drawing! See ya on the next one😊💨💨
Thanks for putting on this GAW and for being such a pleasant and positive member of the YTPC. I Can't wait to watch your next 100 videos and congratulate you when you reach 1,000 subscribers. Cheers.
Wider chambers tend to work better with burley and English blends. Hope you can find a way to enjoy it, but there no shame in passing it on. That is one reason I love estate pipes. Gotta try it to know if you like it. Looks aren't everything. All the best to ya!
I learned real fast this isn't good for Virginias. I tried a few different VaPers and it did not go well. I also tried Old Dar Fired, and that wasn't good either. I'll try EMP in it and see how that does. Thanks for the comment and advice. Cheers, Andy.
😊😊😊
Thanks for stopping by amigo. Hope you're doing well.
@@Piper_Andy alls well here man! 😊😊😊😊
Busy at work...Crowdstrike? LOL
Fortunately not! Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
It seemed you were nearing it but you didn't mention that it's the cadence that causes tongue bite more than anything. Virgina especially, smoke and puff more slowly and less...
Thanks for the advice. I've gotten a little better at it. I find it is much easier to smoke these Virginias when it's very dry and packed lightly. Thanks for stopping by and your comment. Cheers, Andy.
Hey Andy, I'd recommend jarring up all yours. Is samuel gawith as there tin are notorious for not or become unsealed. Also, I'm not sure how your packing and smoking techniques are developing. Im about 9 months in myself, and i finding less is more when packing my pipes. You can always tamp it down if your draw is too light, but it has helped me get more flavors and less tongue bite. As for packing in and of itself, i find all the packing methods i have reached. i end packing too tight or too heavy, so i i gravity fill little by little and use the weight of my tamper.
I've already jarred up a couple of the tins that I plan to smoke soon. The long-term cellar stuff, I vacuum sealed them and am fairly confident they will be fine for a year, at which point I will open the bags to check them out, then re-seal. As far as my packing technique, I too have found less is more. I Like to over dry my tobacco, pack it light, and then smoke slow. The light pack and dry leaf helps it stay lit, reducing the amount of puffing and therefor oxygen exposure. I find this keeps the smoke cooler and decreases tongue bite. Not sure if this is the correct way, but it has been the best for me so far. I'm sure I'll continue to refine my technique as I become more experienced. I'm still just 1.5 months in to this, and have a lot left to learn. Thank you for the advice. I hope you have a great week. Cheers, Andy.
Boy, I really enjoy your reviews Andy. Absolutely fantastic! You communicate your experience so well at times I feel like I'm smoking it right there with you ha!😄👍💨 Take care 😊 see you on the next one.
Thank you for the extremely kind words my friend. Knowing there are people who truly find my reviews entertaining and helpful motivates me to keep making them. I hope you have a terrific rest of the week and weekend. Cheers, Andy.
Make sure you jar up that Solani Silver Flake as soon as possible. That tin is absolutely worthless and isn’t sealed/air tight. I found out the hard way.
I also heard that from Beans316 on his video. He found an old tin that had been sitting in his cellar for years and the tobacco was bone dry. I made sure to throw mine in an airtight jar. Thanks for the tip! Hope you have a great rest of the week. Cheers, Andy.
Excellent review AND great timing. I've just finished my first ever tin of Capstan gold. Although mine didn't have any age to speak of I can subscribe to your conclusions. I deciced to stick a couple of extra tins in the cellar for some anging and future enjoyment. Thanks again and cheers from Amsterdam!
I imagine this is one that would be great right off the jump, but aging pure Virginias is almost always going to result in a better product. You won't regret cellaring this one. Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. I hope you have a great rest of your week. Cheers, Andy.
Great review Andy! One to add to my list!
Thanks for stopping by mate. You won't be disappointed if you give it a go. Hope you're doing well. Cheers, Andy.
One i haven't tried myself. Thanks Andy
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great rest of the week. Cheers, Andy.
Hi Andy! Great review, my friend! I used to like the barbecue/vinegar smell until I got some bad Sir Walter Raleigh, and now, not so much. Maybe someday my liking of it will return :). Take care, my friend!
That smell takes a little getting used to, but I personally love it. It didn't really translate THAT much to the taste. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Hope you have a great rest of the week. Cheers, Andy.
Hiyas Andy, Another spot on review. Capstan 🟡 is indeed a great blend IMHO. It is a quality blend and perfect for a hot day, paired with some iced tea. With that said; the 🔵 flavor profile is a slightly better fit for me; I prefer its deeper, dark fruit and earthy notes. If it's topped or cased at all, it is done with a very light hand. Looking forward to your next review Take care and serene smokes, Gary
Thank you Gary, as always, for the comment and kind words. I really enjoyed the 🟡. Such a high quality product. Looking forward to the 🔵 also, and perhaps one day even the 🟢 like you made. The next review should prove to be interesting, and maybe even a little bit of a hot take on a community favorite. Cheers, Andy.
Thanks for your review, Andy! I have decided I do not like barbecue flavor in my tobacco! Thanks for the reminder on the cooler smoke bringing out more flavor. Have a great day!
Haha, it is definitely not for everyone. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Hope you have a terrific day also. Cheers.
Nice review, I really enjoy the way you approach the review. I enjoy both Capstan blends, just good, quality tobacco. As to scotch, Ralfy says you should let a good single malt air out the number of minutes of its age, so 12 year old sit for 12 minutes 😊. What do you think? Have a great day.
You can definitely tell that Capstan is high quality tobacco. There are no rough edges to it. Looking forward to sampling the "Blue" flake. Haha, Ralfy has forgotten more about scotch whisky than I've ever known. He is a terrific ambassador. He also says that he doesn't do his reviews until he has had a few drams to allow for the bottle to fully express itself. I find that to be dead on accurate. Thanks for your comment and the kind words. Cheers, Andy.
I used to only smoke tobaccos that i deemed natural but i was watching per from mac baren talk about blending and he changed my mind i love a good tobacco recipe now. Those blends that have been made with tobacco and other ingredients like a good meal spiced and flavourful. Still dont like those aromatics when they just cover cavendish with vape juice though
I'm finding that it is difficult to find a blend that doesn't have at least a little bit of something extra added. As long as it is minimal and doesn't altar the profile too much, I don't mind. You're right though, aros with wet goopy PG added is not enjoyable. Thanks for the comment. Hope to see you around. Cheers, Andy.
@@Piper_Andy you should enjoy the gawith flakes next time then. People say it is the best natural Virginia going.
@@Richie66026 I'm really looking forward to reviewing that one. It has soooo much hype in the community. It must be great!
Newer pipe smoker here and Capstan Gold is probably the best blend I’ve tried. Love the stuff!! Also if you like salinity in a blend, I’d recommend Mississippi River by SPC 👍
It is definitely high up on my list as well. I am new myself, but find I lean more towards VaPers and VaPer+ blends. I will add Mississippi River to my list of blends to look out for. Thanks for the suggestion and your comment. Cheers, Andy.
Good Afternoon 😊 Nice Tobacco 😋 Nice Content in the Tobacco 😋 Sweet Tooth 😉 Lovely Presentation 💯 Beautiful Pipe You Have 😍 Awesome Review👌🏽Thanks For Sharing Your Thoughts on the Blend 👍🏼 Nice Straight Virginia 😉 Cant Wait For The Next Review 🤔Have a Fantastic Day with Fabulous Smoking Moments 🌬💨🌬 Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
Greetings Sayed. Thanks for your comment. I hope you have a great rest of the week. Cheers, Andy.
My experience is that any tobacco smoked for 2,5 hrs or let’s say 2-3 bowl smoked in chain would give a sour throat and tongue bite.
Yes! I've learned that just because you can fit that much tobacco in the bowl, doesn't mean you should. Thanks for your comment. Cheers, Andy.
Nice video Andy!! Escudo is one of my top 5.. actually smoking a bowl as I'm watching this. I like to pair mine with black coffee or a good bourbon. Let it sit for a year or two, or longer. It's a great complex smoke (probably why i have over 70 tins of it 😂). I like to smoke it out of a reverse calabash.. try it out of a Peterson System pipe or reverse calabash... great smoke!! Happy piping!!
Seventy tins?! 😯 You must really love this stuff. I have heard that it gets better with a bit of age, so I will pick some up to be opened in the future. It is definitely very good, and am hoping some time in the jar will get it over the "great" mark. I don't have a reverse calabash or Peterson System pipe, but will add those recommendations to my ever expanding list of pipe wants. 😆 Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Cheers, Andy.
Some solid blends there.
I've heard great things about them, so hopefully they stand up to the hype. Thanks for commenting. Have a great week.
Bourbon suggestions - Knob Creek 12 (hard to find) , Woodford Reserve Double Oaked , rye - Sagamore Spirit (delicious, not spicy like other ryes)
I'm not a huge bourbon fan. I keep a few bottles around for friends and family that enjoy it. Most of the bottles you see behind me are single malt scotch. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll keep them in mind if ever buying a gift. Cheers, Andy.
What exactly does YABO mean?
Yet Another Box Opening! 😎
Great review. I would like to see your top 10 tobaccos in a video😃 Greetings from Denmark.
Thanks! I'm not sure how useful that would be since I've probably only tried around 15 blends total in my life. 😄 Maybe one day though! I appreciate you stopping by and saying hello. Cheers, Andy.
Cigar merchant is my go to shop being about 15 mins from there happy piping
Yes! They are about an hour and fifteen minutes from me. That's where I got all of these. Best shop I've found. I hear Cigar Shoppe in Cumming is okay too. Cheers, Andy.
Andy, Looks like you need to hide the pipe 😂. Carolina Rose is a blessing to the community… Great Yabo. Enjoy the goodies. Blessings from Gettysburg Pa…
I might stash it in the closet! 😄 Yep, she is wonderful. A real ambassador for the community. Thanks for the kind words. I hope you have a terrific weekend! Cheers, Andy.
Great to see more people getting into pipe smoking. Nice choice of tobaccos. The date on Presbyterian tins are at the very bottom of the back. I think it should say 12 23 for December 23. At least that's what mine say for the last release of Ordained. Take care.
I'm really loving it so far. Thanks for the tip on the Presbyterian tins. After checking mine, it is 12/23. Hope you have a great weekend! Cheers, Andy.
Wonderful YABO Andy! Such great prizes from Rose🥰 your wife will love that Arcobaleno 606! I have the exact pipe in blue and its a fantastic smoker😁👍see ya on the next one😊 take care!
Thank you sir! Yes, I'm going to need to stash it in the closet after smoking it. 😄 Thanks for stopping by and saying hello. Cheers.
Good stuff Andy. I just got my 1792 and wish I got more.. I like it alot
That's great to hear! I'm really excited to try it. The hardest part about getting all of these different tobacco blends is having the restraint to wait to open them. 😄 Cheers!
@@Piper_Andy thats something I obviously don't know about lol
👍Really awesome stuff! Always nice to get away and have fun! Have a great week Andy!😁
It was a much needed break. You have a great one too! Cheers, Andy.
Great fish. Ppl don’t realize the amount of work that goes into bringing big fish in. Nice win in the giveaway. Have a good weekend.
Yes! Especially when it's you and your boat and not a charter service taking you out. A tremendous amount of work to catch fish like that. Thanks for stopping by! Cheers, Andy.
I don't think you need to get so caught up on aging everything. It's nice to have some stuff stocked in the cellar but it's all really good fresh too! lol
For me it's to get an idea of the difference between fresh and aged Virginias and Virginia heavy blends. The stuff that really shines when it has some age on it, I'll stock up on heavily. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment. Cheers, Andy.
That looks like a pretty amazing fishing trip! And you even have pictures to prove it! Thanks for sharing! Glad you got the box and I hope you and your wife enjoy the Pipe. If the Tobacco is not up your alley, perhaps she will enjoy it. I didn’t realize she was a pipe smoker too. Any chance she will be on an episode? Did she start smoking the same time you did? Have a fantastic day!
Thanks! I can't wait to try the CBG. I need to get a pipe for it though. Perhaps a Missouri Meerschaum! She likes the aromas more than the tastes. She will smoke a pipe, but it has to taste sweet and mild. Definitely an aromatic girl! Not sure if she will be in a video or not. Maybe! Thank you so much again for all of the gifts. They will be put to good use. Cheers, Andy.
@@Piper_Andy yes, you may want to get a Missouri Meerschaum for the captain black grape. If your wife has not tried molto dolce, she really should! I have not tried the honeydew one that I sent you yet, but I have heard other say it’s very good. I’m not sure how sweet. Thanks for the shout out and nice YABO. It was fun to watch! Have a wonderful wonderful day!
@@carolinarose704Hi Carolina Rose! I believe Andy and I watched one of your videos together of you smoking a molto dolce and I mentioned wanting to try that blend☺️
@@HeatherLynn_RN oh you must! Since you like aromatics, I think it would be one of your favorite! It really is like smoking dessert!
Hiyas Andy, A very nice and generous array of GAW winnings from Carolina Rose, congratulations. You picked up 3 great blends! They are all staples in my tobacco rotation. Well done. St. James Flake is well worth waiting for. 😊 Serene smokes, Gary
Thanks Gary! What an amazing GAW from Rose. She is such a generous person. I'm very much looking forward to opening and trying these blends. I've heard so many good things! I hope you have a great rest of the day. Cheers, Andy.
Congrats on winning The GAW. And congrats on scoring some fine blends.
Thank you for stopping by and saying hello! Hope you have a terrific day. Cheers, Andy.
Good Afternoon 😊 Nice Box Opening 👏🏼👏🏼 Awesome Goodies👌🏽 Beautiful Pipe 😍 Beautiful Fishing Trip 🎣 Can beat a good day on the boat ⛵ Thanks For Sharing your GAW winnings 👍🏼 Have a great day & Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you my friend. I hope you're doing well in SA. Cheers, Andy.
great review!! I need to check if it can be shipped over to Argentina.
I definitely recommend trying it if you can. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Cheers, Andy.
Unforunately where I live, the assortment of pipetobaccos is rather limited these days. Coming from Amsterdam it takes me at least a 2 hour drive Postal services don't allow Tobacco products to be shipped anymore, so I have to drive to either Germany or Belgium in order to even buy these,,. Fortunately, I don't mind the drive at all.
Oh wow! That sounds very inconvenient. At least they are still available somewhere...for now. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope to see you around. Cheers, Andy.
Solid review thanks Andy. 🎉
Thanks for watching! Cheers, Andy.
Always enjoy listening in on your reviews. Your format is excellent. Looking forward to the next!😊 take care
Thank you my friend, as always, for the kind words. I'm looking forward to the Capstan 5-Year also! Cheers, Andy.
