Canon EOS 80D Review - 6 years in
This video shares my experience of owning and using a Canon EOS 80D APSC format Intermediate camera body for the past 6 or so years. For me personally, I feel I have used this camera long enough to fully understand it's operations, limitations, good and bad points and it's been a great camera to hone my skills with and learn an awful lot about settings and what changing these does to the resulting images. Overall I would score this camera as an 8.5/10 and 100% recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade to their first decent DSLR from say a compact or bridge style camera.
It's been a great tool for me to hone my skills with, and I feel I have learnt an awful lot about settings and the influence on images that each setting change makes in using this camera over 6 or more years.
Is it the latest spec nowadays in 2023? Obviously not, Mirrorless technology has since been released and has come on leaps and bounds; but is it still a good buy today? For the right type of end user, yes definitely.
I hope this video is of some use to those who watch it, and if so please give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing to the channel - it costs you nothing and really helps me out.
If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please add them below, I respond to every comment.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs - A dawn till dusk experience
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Firstly, I make no apology for the somewhat 'amateur' look/feel to this video. The reason being, because I am exactly that - VERY amateur at video editing! What this trip has taught me however, is that I now understand why there are so many wildlife vloggers out there that capture themselves on route to the venue, as well as transitions of them walking away from/towards the next area. In my cas...
Studio Ready
มุมมอง 53ปีที่แล้ว
After a long wait due to time constraints & work commitments my photography/videography studio is now live & ready for action. I have a couple of vlogs in the editing process, so watch out for them sometime soon. In the meantime here’s a quick tour of what I’ve been up to, & where I’m at with the studio. Still a couple of bits to snag, but it’s getting there.
I'm BACK!!!
มุมมอง 116ปีที่แล้ว
Hi guys & girls, I know it's been a while - but I'm back! Finally got the studio set up (well 80% set up); & have lots in the pipeline for 2023 & beyond. This is just a quick update to touch base and inform you of some of the stuff coming up in the near future. Video shot with a Canon 80D APSC body, 24FPS @1080p, Sigma 18-200 F3.5-6.3ii DC OS Lens & Lavalier wired microphone. Please let me know...
Badger feeding up close to the hide
มุมมอง 772 ปีที่แล้ว
This adult female badger was out foraging right in front of the hide the other night. She came within 6ft of me, completely unflustered by my presence & fed naturally for 40 minutes or more. Towards the end of the session, one of her cubs came out & fed too, but kept close to the set & in the shadows so no usable footage of that; maybe next time! Kit used: Canon EOS 80D body, Canon 400mm F4 DO ...

Recorded during Covid-19 Lockdown My maiden vlog as an amateur wildlife photographer. This episode is a brief intro to myself, my style of photography and my preferred subjects. Future episodes will be from out in the field, with hopefully plenty of wildlife to show you. This vlog was shot on a Samsung Galaxy S8 Smartphone. Caravan camouflage adaptions are thanks to my lovely wife Sue.

Thank you Andy. There’s always plenty to see at Bempton, I have visited in late Autumn & the Auks (puffins, razorbills & guillemots) we’re gone, but still lots of gannets. Tree sparrows, peregrine & the barn owls around. Best of luck with your trip. Best, Nick

Thanks Joel, yup it was a long ol’e day, but I was prepared for that. Arrived the day before, nice comfy b&b, early night & a packed lunch/coffee/water & it was lovely being up there at dawn with nobody else around. Think this was my best trip yet, in terms of positions of the birds & the surroundings. Came away happy, tired; but happy. Cheers mate 🙏
