Wet timing belt engine design. Absolutely not

As much hate as my vehicle (Ford EcoSport 2.0 AWD) gets, it's far more reliable and solid than this piece of crap. It's subframe has way more backbone. This is a far better LOOKING vehicle, but that junk wet rubber timing belt in the engine is just asking for a major problem. It's not any better than the older Traxx's bad timing chain at 40-60,000 miles. In fact, it's worse. Planned obsolescence. Then there's it's plastic tie rod ends and TERRIBLE layout of the undercarriage. It's a pretty piece of garbage with a nice interior. Smooth, deceptive crap. If I had a pick between a brand new Traxx and my EcoSport with 9,000 miles...I'd stay with mine.

Test drive both and liked them both. We (wife and I) ended up going with the CX-5 Carbon Edition for its upscale interior and seats (red leather) for just a little more money than the Select CX-50. Just more value to me in the CX-5 price-wise. We did like the CX-50’s little bit extra backseat space and extra cargo space… but for us in our 50s now (w/ grown kids and no grandkids yet) we didn’t specifically need that little bit of extra space in either place and we just preferred the CX-5’s feel. And the fact that the CX-50 has cylinder deactivation and I-Stop technology was a big turn off to me. I just hate that stuff. CX-5 (at least in 2024) is blissfully devoid of that garbage.

I test drove the Trax and wasn’t impressed. It honestly felt like a $21,000 car. The Buick Envista had a much better build quality and drove much better. I would honestly spend the couple grand more and buy the base model Envista. I ultimately ended up getting the Nissan Rogue but I think I would’ve been just as happy with the Envista. The Trax: not so much.

Wow, I'm so happy I held out and bought the 2024 Ford Escape Platinum instead of buying this model. The redesign they did in 2023 made such a *massive* difference. It makes the Escape look much more premium and high end, especially in the interior and the front grill. Also that control panel and infotainment screen look so tiny and dated compared to the 12 inch digital panel and 13 inch infotainment screen in my 2024. Crazy what a huge difference two years can make in a vehicle!!

The seat is uncomfortable you said but you still say its a great car. The retail on these is 50-60k? For that kind of money the seat better be very comfortable. I feel like as americans we push american engineering even if its not the best for the money.

1) The design is biting Hyundai/ Kia style. 2) Agree, tons of space. 3) The older Equinox have USB ports right there, they could have placed AC vents there with 1 port. 4) Agree, Chevy knows how to do comfy seats, nothing new. 5) Agree, price is a bargain at MSRP but it's because they went cheap on materials under the hood and at the suspension system.

One reason NOT to buy is the rear taillights where water leaks inside and requires entire strip of lights to be replaced. May NOT be covered by warranty. All Durango models from 2013 to current year will likely have this problem when being build Chrysler did not put any sealant around the light bar. A class action lawsuit has been filed over this one issue. I love my 2019 RT, but this problem wears the shine off my love. Problem may happen again even after it's repaired. Do a search on YT for Durango taillights.

I absolutely love the new Trax. If I could, I would be down at my local dealer picking mine out right now.

Mine is a 50 and love it . Ha e had both Toyota and Honda and neither as good or drive as nice as the Mazda .

I have a 2020 Mazda CX-5. Quality car but Mazda needs to update their technology. No hybrids, outdated tech, outdated styling. Hopefully, Toyota will make Mazda a better buy now that it owns a percentage of Mazda.
