Been years since I alter served but I was volunteered to at my uncles wedding today (in an hour) this video helped, hope it helps my muscle memory

I am now 81 Years of age and was an Altar Server for many years but somehow gave up , I am also a Eucharistic Minister but during the Pandemic only have Sick Calls to attend to I found I wished to recommence my Altar Serving, My Parish was very kind to me and allowed me to join the Archdiocese of St Steven and to serve again, It has brought me great joy.

Very systematic instructions - and appropriately slow. Really well done. I wonder why there are no instructions about swinging. When censing the presiding priest, shouldn't the thurifer raise the censer, swinging it twice in the center, twice to the left, and twice to the right? I think the thurible should clank the chain each time, as well. We were always trained to swing the censer in this order: Center-Left-Right. And is it necessary to cense each side of the congregation seated in the nave? Why doesn't the thurifer stand in the center of the aisle and cense the entire congregation at once (again, center-left-right)?

Why aren't the altar servers bowing when crossing in front of the altar they are supposed to I have been an ultra server for about 20 years and it is different where I live but I just wanted to know that.
I was an altar server from the ages of 9 to 13. Helped me stay faithful to my catholic faith.
I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior . . .by faith alone...I do believe the Bible is the true Revelation from God, I do believe we are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ Jesus the Bible says that...I do believe that you have to forsake all Luke 14:33 Whosoever KJV...I don't believe the above because of Martin Luther, I believe them in spite of Martin Luther... because they are scriptural...I believed them before I know anything about Martin Luther. . .I believe the Roman Catholic Church is the true Protestants, because they believe that tradition trumps the teachings of the Holy Bible. . . They are protesting scripture . . . In favor of their traditions. Traditions are man-made and made up, has to be truth we've always done it that way... Then these people are mostly wrong, and they need to stop protesting the true Church of God in Christ Jesus by faith alone in Christ. The Bible is clear that salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ! Genesis 15:6: “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Habakkuk 2:4: “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.” ... (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

It would appear from the Liturgical colour that this is being filmed in Ordinary Time. Incense is not used during Ordinary Time....
Who says incense is proscribed in Ordinary Time (the season after Trinity)? In some parishes, incense is used at every Sunday Mass.
I remember visiting Holy Trinity church in Poughkeepsie, NY during a vacation on July 28, 2019 (17th Sunday in Ordinary Time that year). Despite it being an Ordinary Time Sunday in the middle of summer, they still used incense at that mass. I personally couldn't imagine a Sunday mass where incense was less needed, but perhaps that is something they do every week.
@@dragonpullman23 I think the use of incense is more a matter of local custom and tradition than of uniform prescription - or any singular interpretation of the liturgical calendar. Take a survey of RC, Anglican, and Lutheran parishes: You'll find a lot of diversity. Some may never offer incense, whereas others may offer incense only on feast days. Still others definitely offer incense at every Sunday mass (at least during the principal celebration).
@@Tre86Q Yes, exactly. Based only on my own limited observations, I used to think incense at the Eucharist and Evening Prayer was used mainly (or only) on festal occasions. I've discovered that how frequently a parish includes incense in its liturgies really is a matter of local custom, rather than any canonical guideline. The first time I saw incense used on Ash Wednesday and on a Sunday in Lent, I was pretty surprised. Now I know that incense is appropriate at any eucharistic celebration and in other liturgies such as Evensong (especially during the Phos Hilaron and Marian canticles). Not only will you find plenty of variation among RC, Anglican, and Lutheran parishes concerning how frequently (and on what occasions) incense is used, you'll also find diversity when it comes to particular ceremonies within liturgies. For example, in Tridentine masses, it seems that the altar, the clergy, and/or the assembly get censed at every possible point in the liturgy and that incense ceremonies are as elaborate as they can be. After the entrance, the presiding priest or bishop charges the thurible, censes the altar (with deacons or subdeacons grasping his chasuble), hands the thurible to the deacon or subdeacon, and then gets censed himself (!). I could be wrong, but I think the current Roman Missal recommends that the presider charge the censer, cense the altar, and then hand off the thurible after the entrance rite (skipping the censing of the presiding priest or bishop at that point). You'll see this simpler censing ceremonial if you watch this year's papal Easter masses. I've noted in Anglican and Lutheran liturgies that presiders may not charge the censer ever and that we might only see incense used during processions. All really interesting!

Servers should bow when entering going up the altar and going down of it. Pretty important detail that was forgotten here.

I used to be an Altar Server during my childhood.
If u all r wondering why there r girls and why there is no reverence to the true presents heres why. In 1962 there was a counsel Vatican 2. They changed everthing the new ruberics say that there is no need for genuflection because there no need to believe in the real presents thanks to Ecumanism. That is also why the new rite has girls serve no need to respect or follow the 1940 and 50 rules and cannon law for ceremonies by St pius the 10th. Also on a side note by cannon law NO ONE is aloud to touch a chalice bare handed unless yr a subdeacon or at least tanchored. Fyi im catholic and im Sedevacantis.

What is the purpose of the bells?
Francis hopkins back in the day, masses were in Latin. So, most people did mot know or understand. Ringing bells was signals to tell the congregation which part of the mass is going on.
