Oncloud Monster Hyper after 150 miles
This is my honest review of the On Cloud Monster Hyper. I paid for these shoes with my own money and have put over 150 miles on them. I mainly used these as a daily trainer in my rotation.

What about the pro 5?
Pro 5 aren’t a thing yet
size guide has been all over. some says stick with your AP3 when getting AP4. while some says half-size up when getting AP4
I honestly think whatever you have for the AP3, get the same size for AP4👍🏻 I think you can return it if you run/try it out on the treadmill vs the road
@@BrandonCPack1 unfortunately, adidas in my country sux and wants to play the 'nike-hype' game. so i am getting a pair from another country, got no change to try 'em on. appreciate the input
Oh dang, they just released a white and black color way today in the USA. Maybe try a local running store, or sporting goods?
Good job

@@BrandonCPack1 😅
I like those colors!
The design is very clean 🧼
Dang that's cool but I like trains 👍
Trains are cool too
Whenever i pass a runner i gotta hit "Bro run faster he's catching up"
He hasn’t met forest gump
"I'm pretty tired... I think I'll go home now"
Any advice on how to fuel pre-run or on long runs? Or do you think you might do a separate video on that?
@@cubicleinvestor2553 I think I’ll have to make a video of some options 🧐
Ya....don't get sucked into these downhill races giving you massive times. If you aren't ready for the quad pounding it will not help that much. But trying to push 10-20mins past your fitness level will NOT end well. Unless you get either extremely lucky, train those quads like a beast in the gym, AND do tons of extended long runs on declines. Even then...yikes! The other thing to consider with 40% BQ rate at that race, is they are targeting people who are already at the BQ and just looking for that extra help to secure the bib at cut-off time. So that 40% is skewed. Your recent 1 mile translates well, at this point you need volume...lots and lots of volume. I know what I can achieve on 90km a week, and what I can achieve on 110km a week, hoping to push to 125-130km a week for Boston build...we'll see if these old bones hold up or not. I might be walking Boston! Good-luck with your training.
Yeah definitely numbers can be skewed. I’m only hoping for about 9-10 mins off my time. I do plan to get more mileage this go around possibly peaking at 65miles a week or around 100ks. Good luck with your training for Boston ! You’ve been killing it lately
I run 4 miles everyday there is no such thing as to much
@Kaz-b3i Those who get it, get it. Those who don’t think we are crazy 🤷🏼♂️
I think you don’t give yourself enough credit by saying a downhill is cheating, if it’s a BQ it’s a BQ and a lot of people can’t even break 3 🤷♂️
@@cubicleinvestor2553 very true 🤔 I guess the haters will hate when I’m running down Boylston st
Too real 🫣
I do whatever I like 😅🤣
It's all moot. Take 10days, get the adaptations from the effort and run it again....but this time make sure the first lap is the slowest, and the last lap is the fastest. Don't put a full send 1 mile into your marathon build...risk vs reward is NOT worth it. Chicago has never had a buffer, yet. And I doubt they will, they will just cutback on lottery spots unless things really get out of hand with the time qualifiers. Chasing a result in 1 block is a bad idea for the marathon. Let the blocks stack, it will organically come over time. Don't be in such a rush, Boston isn't going anywhere. When you are ready you will get your bib. But over training or pushing too hard and getting an injury could cost you a year's worth of progression or more... I jacked up the back of my treadmill, so by default 0% its now actually -7%, as part of my Boston training. And boy...do you feel it. I have the entire Boston course mapped out in 400m slices with the approximate grade% and I run the course in sections from time to time. I'm lucky in that locally, I have enough elevation profile that closely matches Boston, but due to weather and footing it's not always safe....hence the treadmill shenanigans.
Thanks for the advice Tim👍🏻 I don’t plan on doing the mile again at the moment. Looking to now increase mileage and focus on some long runs 👍🏻
Would you take the Apple IPhone stopwatch time, Coros time, or the Strava time for your PR?
😂

I notice in the stability you have a bit of over-pronation. how is the stability? I over-pronate and do fine in the AP3 but concerned about the softer foam and decoupled heel.
@@matthewmyers7826 the foam is less firm so it could a little more unstable, but I don’t notice it really to be honest

Question, in my area a lot of runners do turf runs, where they just run the square grass football outline inside the track. What’s the purpose of that?
@@cubicleinvestor2553 grass or turf is easier on the joints, also simulates cross country conditions so it’s alittle harder to run on. I think it also may use some accessory muscle fibers. I think it’s beneficial to do workouts and recovery runs on grass if you can

I qualified for Chicago '25, but can't justify the cost of running 2 majors in one year, so I'll put off my redemption run at Chicago till '26 or '27. But the cost for Chicago was crazy. And Boston it's much better considering I'm driving to Boston and staying 4 nights vs 7 nights in Chicago. And you really nailed it here, Indy is a cheaper, less crazy busy option than Chicago.
Get the Chicago qualifying time at Boston! I was shocked how much cheaper Indy is
What races are you running in 2025?
My guess is Indy. Don't get sucked into these downhill races, unless you truly prepare your quads to handle it. You're moving the right direction, a Boston bib will happen soon enough. Last year, my local marathon was 26th overall as the best Boston qualifier with 27% BQ with 100 qualifiers. It's in Canada, but it's an easy drive up the I-95 on the eastcoast to Fredericton, N.B. That's where I got my Boston '25 bib, and the new course for Freddy 2025 has changed the first half which will definitely shave off 60-90secs. Date can be a problem, since it's always on Mother's Day. But the weather is always great! And while I did BQ for Boston '26 at Chicago '24, I only BQ'd by 7sec, so I know it won't hold. Hoping I can snag a Boston '26 bib, at Boston '25. Since I'd rather only run 1 marathon next year, and spend all summer and fall working on 5k/10k/Half.
@@timtrenholm3698 I think you’ll get that BQ at Boston 👍🏻 I really need to check into that marathon. All the data I looked at was in the US.

@ that’s the thing though, just ran a 10k a few weeks ago with some of my “drunk” buddies and one kept pace with me most of the race, now that he is rich af he has the free time to train every day of the week, eat and sleep well and so on, if he puts 100% of himself into running he will catch me one day, he has the free time.
