เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 ต.ค. 2013
Hey y’all! My name is Norman. I’m currently a meteorology student & also a storm chaser! For the most part this channel is dedicated to my adventures out across the United States of Mother Natures most violent phenomena’s. During the times severe weather is dying down or I cannot chase, I stream and also do videos with other storm chasers/friends of weather related content and or gaming content! If you also have that same fascination with weather, subscribe and come with me on our journey!

มุมมอง 53510 หลายเดือนก่อน
This deadly tornado outbreak ravenged across Eastern IN / West-Central Ohio on the night of March 14th. On this chase we managed to capture at least 4 tornadoes, from the long-track supercell from Celina, OH to Wapakoneta and also the other long-track supercell that produced the Winchester IN / Piqua OH tornado. Both Wapakoneta & Winchester both stand as prelim EF3. My thoughts and prayers go o...

Having grown up in Wheelersburg just a few short years after the tornado, this was very interesting to watch. Thanks for making it!
I was overseas in the military and didn't hear about the tornado at the time it happened, but my first thought when I did was that it must have come upstream of the river. My Grandpa always said that the worst storms in the area always followed the river because the hills were like a storm fence that would make a storm skip from one side of the river to the other and break the force of the wind and thereby protect the areas where most people lived. If you look at the topography of the area it's immediately obvious that if the storm had formed just a few miles east of Wheelersburg the city of Portsmouth might have suffered much worse than Wheelersburg due to the relative density of the population there and the fact that it sits in a kind of bowl surrounded on the south by the river and hills of northern Kentucky and on north and east sides by the three hundred foot prominence of hills not helpful in protecting the city when a storm follows the river, and since the storm followed the river the Kentucky hills served no protection which would have made the storm to skip, but the hills east of Portsmouth at Sciotoville, before where the river turns south, may have been sideswiped and skipped the storm a bit south in a direct line to Wheelersburg. As bad as it was, it could have been worse. en-us.topographic-map.com/map-2gbrr/Scioto-County/?center=38.6646%2C-82.86575&zoom=11
Didn't know there were mountains in seo
Gorgeous shot! What a beautiful storm and tornado
I just learned that my mother (who was pregnant with my older sister) my 3 oldest sisters and grandmother were all in this Tornado. My sister said they all saw it she would have been 7 years old at the time. Said they were sitting in the car while my mom was in a doctors office. She went in to detail about the dark clouds, the wind and how it picked up a building about 50 foot from where they were and spun it around like it was in the Wizard of Oz movie!
I lived in Country Side village and That tornado came straight Up our street and just missed us. Our side of the village was untouched. The other side was demolished. My Dad helped dig bodies out from under the rubble. Tornado's give me the creeps to this day.
Bummer it isnt January and -15 too!!
My dad, b. 1916, grew up on the river. It was normal for family to keep two canoes on second floor b/c river would rise so fast every now and then they’d have to put canoe out window to save themselves from drowning/being washed away. What a way of life.
I live near where the first touchdown happened. Crazy to think something so big happened so close to
Great shots, would be cool if you had the locations in the bottom corner of the video.
Where at along the river was this video taken?
Small town located SW of Parkersburg called Hockingport, second location was in Marietta
Lot stuff going on in the world look up
Thanks Brandon
Could be anyone of the tributaries
Heartbreaking.
Doesn't look like the Ohio to me. Way too small.
It's happening on the Ohio River in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Kentucky
You may be correct in the first part. That looks like the Muskingdom right outside of Marietta along route 60. I thought the same thing and I can see the 2 lane state route following on the right side of the river. State route 60. I'm not from there but have been thru there many times on my bike. Twards the end of the video with the bridges that cross over to Parkersburg is 100% Ohio river.
That is AN Ohio River. It isn’t The Ohio River.
Norman save the steelers stadium plz
Pittsburgh is a long way from Marietta. A good 3.5 hr haul.
I believe our toughest challenge which spanned the Mississippi River all the way to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania was the 1937 flood!
MY HOMETOWN
Yeah I was born and raised in that town and you're definitely correct when saying that's absolutely surrounded by large hills, small mountains and forest. The only way a large tornado could ever get enough steam to into the f4-f5 range is if it formed exactly over the (very wide) Ohio river, picked up energy as it rolled down stream and then hop the banks at Wheelersburg and rip into town. And that's exactly what happened in 1968
That's some friggin' awesome footage, man! Intercepting several different tornadoes during an unexpected outbreak; that's what I call domination!
Nice footage Norman.
Very good intercepts! I had the storm out by Winchester Indiana for awhile was a wild, unfortunate night
Wicked footage, Norman!!!!
Great job on Thursday Norman!
That's some amazing footage...it really shows just how devastating this thing was.

Devastating tornado, great shots Norman!
Nice trees🤐
Great video! Always liked reading up on that day since I’ve grown up in Wheelersburg! Stepfather was 13 at the time when it happened, said he was in Allentown about five minutes from downtown, watched it cross the river and head over into town around where Lowes is now!
If ur chasing storms u need a m30 or a splash drone. Mavic 3 doesn't do well in water or wind. A phantom is a ton more powerful to fight the wind alot cheaper to throw away also if it gets soaked.
Thank you for sharing this with me, I was at work when this happened. Luckily we all was in the basement, all the employees and our guests who were there enjoying a game of bowling 🎳. I had just got into the building and my phone went off warning us about the twister warning and telling us to go to our safety zone ( which is the basement).
Dude. Your comments suck
every home and business should have a Tornado shelter no excuse, Every business should have one because most can afford them, for the lower income I think the government should do a pay over time thing to help everybody get one. They save lives period
I hope none of those cars got hit by the tornado.
😢😢😢😢😢😢
The blue truck was zoomin ☠️☠️
That tornado was just north of my neighborhood.
Cars are driving right into it??
Unfortunately yes, I will be making a video on tornado safety here very soon. Thankfully those drivers missed the tornado and the tornado turned more NE instead of moving more easterly.
Why are you yelling "Loud roar?" over the "roar" and describing things that we can plainly see in the video? Silence, is the key.
I have quite a few intercepts where I was quiet. Without getting too personal, with what’s been going on personally, I was just glad to get out of the house so adrenaline was at an all time high. Some people like speaking and walk-through, some don’t and want dead silence, can’t please everyone
Also I’ll throw this in here that, in a high action scenario, mentally it’s a nice way to calm down and talk out your thoughts and rationalizations. IMO it depends on scenario on when to talk vs calmness. A lot more high action chasing, talking isn’t bad, just makes it feel more raw with emotion. Where as a tornado over open plains there’s no need to talk, if that makes sense
@@NormanWx You did a good job. You explained the situation as it was happening. Good job this guy is just trolling.
@joelgenung2571 if you don't like the video don't watch it? Sorry bro I had no idea it was rocket science
Nahhh, he's just sharing his opinion with which I agree. Hope things are in a better place now, Norman, and thanks for the capture.@@Daniel_Antonio_Arellano782
Was it terrifying to be driving and seeing that nocturnal tornado lit up by lightning?
It was the most intimidating chase I’ve ever been on, that’s for sure.
To make hurricane is harder than making tornado.
What???
Insane dude!!

Excellent chase, man, that's some fascinating close-range footage! That roar was loud, wow
What weather app on your phone are you using?

This thing was an EF5 at many points in its life and the NWS shit the bed with its rating system. Hopefully they redo the scale soon. History matters!
