Loved watching your video about Melbourne. I a currently visiting my daughter in Melbourne and trying for the first time to do a travel journal. It was really hard deciding what medium to bring with my from the UK. I wanted to bring so much but had to stop myself. It made me think how much equipment do you take out with you. I’ll probably do much of my journal when I get home from the many photographs I’m taking. It’s hard to do sketching when you’re with a family group. I take it all out with me but then don’t get to sketch anything, bit embarrassed to sketch out in public. Thank you for a look at your Melbourne sketch book, it was inspiring. 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing, really like your work ❤
My pleasure 😊
Wonderful Kat. I especially loved the city baths and state library. You are so inspiring.
Thank you! It's so nice to share my city and see what others are inspired by
Every single page was full of atmosphere. So so enjoy your sketchbook tours Kat. I’ve been a bit “off” sketching recently but I always come away from your videos with renewed desire to get my materials out again.
Super nice sketchbook so much art🎉🩵💙💛
Thank you so much 😀
Loved the tour!❤ Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed!
Loving this Melbourne sketchbook. Takes me back to when I lived there many years ago.
Thanks. It's always fun seeing sketches of places you know.
Love it ❤❤❤bravissima
Thank you so much 😊
Hello Kat! I always enjoy your sketchbooks!
It’s so lovely to hear that!
Great sketches Kat ❤ you could make a zine from your city whenever you want, you have a lot of content already! 😊
That's a great idea!
That was so fun. I follow you know on instagram🎉🎉🎉
Yay! Thank you!
I’m afraid the David Hockney book is far far from inspiring and I live in the area where he sketched those pictures. It’s a very beautiful area and those images are sadly disappointing.
I guess inspiration is different for everyone.
Absolutely stunning and very well shown by you. I want all of them, they make me want to paint or take a photo immediately! Some people I know some I don't but all I love 😮😊 Subscribing NOW
Thank you so much!
That was fantastic! Great ideas and execution 😊
Thanks, I’m glad you liked them! 😊
Thanks for the sharing these collection ! I like the chinese way DH skteches Yorkshire!
Thanks for watching!
those books are full of so much inspiration 🥰
They are!
immediately adding these all to my Christmas list😹 fab video!!
Hope you enjoy!
Very fun! Good job!
Thanks so much!
Are there purse or pocket size art books I could carry around and use to sketch from when I am stuck somewhere boring?
I'm sure there are. It might be worth checking out your local book shop.
for as much as we pay for these darn things, it's downright RUDE!!!! i'M THINKING THEY'RE NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE
I know, right!
Such great picks!1 several fabulous ones I didn’t know about. Thank you for sharing
You're welcome! I hope you find some inspiration in them.
Excellent first page in your Fabriano❤
Thanks. It's always fun to start a new sketchbook.
Beautiful artwork in these books. Great selections.
I’m so glad you liked them! 😊
Thanks for sharing your book collection Kat. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on art you are a real observer.
Thanks! It’s nice to have a little chat about things I love.
The David Hockney sketches are amazing! Do you think that's ink or watercolor?
I think watercolours
A great collection Kat! I only have the Accidentally Wes Anderson book, but i wouldn't mind to have the Matisse book just for start 🤩
I got mine quite cheap secondhand on Amazon.
I have the David Hockney one and now I want the Mark Hearld one (I should know his work being into printmaking….. so now you have introduced me to a new artist) Cheers for that Kat!
It's an amazing book.
Thanks very much for sharing your favourite books. I find it very interesting to see what books inspire creative people. I’m happy to also have the David Hockney, Mark Hearld and Martin Salisbury books. Love them. I have also read My Brilliant Friend (and watched the fabulous series) but I don’t have that beautiful graphic edition. It’s stunning. Thanks again. 😊
The tv series is great as well. Its such a strong story.
Thank you for sharing these!
I'm glad you enjoyed them!
What a beautiful books!❤ loved them all!🎉
Yay, thank you!
I usually use Sakura micron fine liners to ink a water color drawing! I have heard it’s better to use dip pens not fountain pens with water proof ink because waterproof ink can clog up the pen, but it takes a while to get used to dip pens… at least I still make a mess when trying to use dip pens
It takes practice to get a good line with dip pens - you're not alone! I've found dipping, then doing lines i want strong and bold first helps. And bit of mess is always good.
I bought a single tube of Art Spectrum watercolour. Then I read the fine print - do not use in pans! 😂😂
Ouch, that’s a shame - they should make that clearer!
I loved to follow your drawings for Draw Tober Kat 🧡 i really like their pages, but this year I went for AHP'Tober!
Thanks. There are too many challenges to pick from in October!
Delightful scenes and color palette
Thanks 😊
I’m so inspired by your book for our first trip to Japan next month. I’m taking a few weeks off/colour pencils and hope to find time to do fast sketches at night. I’m a beginner. 😀
Have a wonderful time in Japan! It’s such a fun place to sketch.
I did inktober a couple of years back but haven’t participated in it since. This challenge seemed far more fun. I have no idea where you find all your challenges! I really enjoyed your sketchbook tour, my sketchbook is looking pretty shit right now 😂 which always makes me unmotivated (probably just an excuse for being a slacker). Brilliant as always!
I find most of my challenges just from my insta feed. If someone posts that they're doing a fun challenge, I look into it. There's a fun one coming up in December - Imagined Book Covers.
I love your work!! Last October, I did my own Drawtober with my random prompts. I'm happy with most of my drawings and sketches; I did it as a way to practice and experiment a bit every day :) Have a nice week
That sounds fun!
Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing yourself and talking about it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I had a very unproductive October as I went to Nigeria and I couldn’t settle to draw. Brighton Pavilion is really near me
Sometimes it's good to be unproductive. It must be nice living in Brighton.
I love how different every page is! my favourites are 11:09 and 12:58 😍😍
Thanks. I really enjoyed sketching that cute little bakery.
fantastic video, watched and enjoyed till the end 😊😊
Can't wait to see your chosen pieces framed up Kat! And the play for Folktale week at the end looked great fun too! 😍
Yay, thank you!
Just got the 150 chromaflow set. It seems they are sharpenng much better than my older 12 set i had. Having alot of fun with them. 2 thumbs up lol.
Wow, 150 colours would be too many for me! But good that they sharpen better. It makes such a difference.
Thanks Kat, I always enjoy your videos.
Thanks for watching 😀
I like to see Australian TH-camrs. What state are you in.?
Ok so Victoria
Yep, in Melbourne.
You did a lot of art Kat, I always love the looseness of your drawings/paintings and your color choices 😊 good luck for the contest art 🤞❤️ and hope the exercise helps you!
Thanks so much!
Love your art. So creative ❤
It's my happy place.
Thanks a lot for this video!! What a good test!, i have the colorsoft from Derwent, love them. But to be honest, I don’t have any other color pencils. Bought these years and years a go.. liked the set of 72 so much wasn’t aware that there where any other sort of color pencils😂 I didn’t use them a long time but since a year i am in a drawing mood. So happy that i still have them because i like them a lot. Greetings from the Netherlands 🎉❤
It was fun to test them all but tbh, i mostly use the drawing pencils.
I liked it all, well done. I am into the mini drawings this time. Just for fun. ❤
Wonderful!
This was so good! And inspiring to choose one main subject and not just draw it repeatedly on it's own but to also have incorporated that subject into many drawings. I love this!
Thanks. I think I'd go mad if I just kept drawing the same thing over and over!
