I captured canbus traffic using Peak PCAN-View (not with candump).. I'd love to plot as I also have a dbc file. Can I use python-can (can.logconvert) to convert the trc file to the log format, that can then be plotted using cantools? ( cat dumpfile_log | python3 -m cantools plot dbcfile ) Or thoughts on the canstream application or the online service can2sky? The latter I believe can be used to convert log to trc (but I need the other way!) I've seen mitchdetailed / Log-CANverter convert from log to csv and then plots using an external tool (MegaLogViewer HD, plotjuggler, etc)?

Hi Glen. I’ve been watching a channel by Intelligent Auto and knew nothing about CAN until I watched him fault finding a CAN problem and he had been advised by yourself re an issue and I’ve got the same so I’m hoping you can advise me on this. I’ve got an issue on a van I’ve bought a while ago and it has 3 CAN lines but I’m presuming that no matter where I test the CAN physical lay, I should be reading 60ohms at each testing point with or without the components connected? I have terminal resistors present in the ICM and the ECU of 120ohms each. Some tests are recording 60ohms at the wiring and some are recording 120ohms which to me, is indicating a break in the wiring. Am I thinking correctly here or, because I have 3 CAN lines, should I only be receiving 120ohms at some components? The wiring diagrams I have are not very good (Vauxhall Vivaro 2017). I’ve no access to an oscilloscope but with my limited knowledge, I have recorded voltages of 2.5 and around 5 at all of the components that have a CAN wire connection. Sorry for the long winded message but I’m hoping you can say that yes, I must have a broken wire somewhere. Many thanks and keep up your good work for us all.

Hi, I have the same problem. I retrieved the bigger side of the rivet, I guess the smaller parts will be at the intercooler inlet (hopefully to big though to make their way through there). Do you think it is safe to drive the cat like this until the problem is fixed? I'm not sure what this flap does to be hones...

Hi I get a swirling noise finished by a low tone grunt (like a bass driver kicking in ) on revvong. I'm not sure if it's linked but I been getting intermittent engine vibrations (idle) any ideas ? It's been back and forth the dealer I got it from and losing my patience thanks

You have read it via OBD (Ident. 0x7E8, all above 0x700 is normally diagnostic communication), but there is certainly still a CAN message on the bus that comes directly from the ABS. OBD communication creates overhead.
