Attaching HyperStar to a Telescope
มุมมอง 8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
HyperStar is based on Celestron's innovative Fastar feature. This feature allows the secondary mirror to be removed from Celestron's Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. By mounting the HyperStar lens assembly in place of the secondary mirror, a CCD camera can be mounted at the front of the telescope allowing for a wider field of view and much faster imaging. Switching from HyperStar to the telescope...
Cool Edge - SCT Cooler

The Starizona Cool Edge was named one of Sky & Telescope's Hot Products for 2012! The latest innovative product from Starizona is designed to help rapidly stabilize your telescope with the ambient air temperature. The Cool Edge is designed with Celestron's new EdgeHD optical system in mind. Because this telescope design has lens elements inside the primary baffle tube, it is not possible to use...

มุมมอง 17K6 ปีที่แล้ว
The Starlight Instruments SCT MicroFocuser provides the smoothest control for fine focusing. Two focus knobs allow for standard or 1/10th-speed focusing, making the MicroFocuser extremely accurate. Excellent for both imaging or visual observing, this focuser is precision-machined and anodized black with a brass fine-focus knob. www.starizona.com
Installing a HyperStar Conversion Kit
มุมมอง 16K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This kit allows a non-HyperStar-compatible SCT to be converted into a compatible telescope. The kit includes three components that replace the original secondary mirror assembly. To install, the original assembly must be removed from the telescope. The corrector plate is removed first. Then the baffle tube is unthreaded to allow the secondary holder to be removed. The secondary mirror itself is...

    I've tried this a few times in the past, but now i seem to have "micro scratches" on my corrector plate for some reason, so beware or watch your technique closely.

    man just a small bump and you shatter that corrector plate, risky mod lol. Wish they made them for meades too though.. idk why they don't exist for a meade.

    Dean and the crew are very helpful when it comes to the hyperstar. I have one on an 8" SCT. have talked with Dean a few times about it. He offers great suggestions to fix problems he knows about. I might be looking for a lager SCT to use maybe a 9.25" or 11"

    I have a celestron 9.25 standard SCT (non-Edge version). and my imaging camera is ZWO ASI 071MC. will this corrector do end-end coma correction? will my imaging frame be bigger than the corrector-circle, leaving the edges non corrected (and correction happens only in center)? because that is what is currently happening with my meade 0.63x corrector

    • @krisztiangulyas5068
      @krisztiangulyas5068 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen many guys in astronomy forums using this corrector with C9.25 + ASI2600 cameras (APS-C size) and works quite well! Stock 0,63x reducers (Celestron, Meade) are for visual observing. I've got a C11 + Celestron 0,63x reducer using with a modified APS-C Canon 650D. Almost half of the field of view is garbage, full of coma error. I'm planning to buy this 0.63x Starizona reducer, because it works great with C11 + APS-C size sensors. Look for this video: "Starizona SCT Corrector - Full Review". There's a great comparsion of this reducer and Celestron reducer in the video.

    What is the name or the item number of that DSLR camera adaper? I can't find it in Starizona's webshop. The backfocus of the corrector is 90,3 mm. The DSLR sensor sits 45mm deep inside the Canon DSLR camera body, so that must be something 45,3 mm long.

  • @danduriscoe1280

    Just came across this and it is helpful. However, while a point is made to not lose data in the lower end with the red slider, the same is true for the higher end. The examples shown the final product has stars that are all white because the color information in bright objects is lost by aggressive stretching to bring out the dimmer parts. If you want color in your stars, don't apply a log stretch on clipped high end data, be sure to include it all by moving the green slider all the way to the right. This is where MaxIM DL is not the best, take the result and put it in Photoshop for final application of curves and saturation adjustments. Otherwise, the big advantage to MaxIM DL is that all of the processes in this video can be automated with a script, making it one button.

    I'd like to add that methanol is a very toxic substance, and is quite easily absorbed through the skin. It's also very volatile. Good ventilation, gloves and eye protection are highly encouraged when working with it, even in small amounts.

    It's a good thing to quickly cool down the scope from a large temperature difference. However, the air being cooled is being pulled through the motor which is several Watts in power, which acts like a several Watts heater to the primary mirror. So, the mirror will always be somewhat warmer than the outside air, no matter how long you cool your scope with CoolEdge.

    • @hdr96k
      @hdr96k ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. With my experience the fan does not add any temperature to the secondary mirror. The secondary is being cooled with the same temperature air as the primary, the only theoretical opportunity to heat the secondary would be the few seconds when you are removing it. This doesn't happen . Verified with a thermal gun. Your statement is inaccurate.
