to future people who are confused how to make the head rotate like it does in the video press r to rotate then press r again to enable trackball rotation (thats what its called idk if its somewhere in the video but my adhd brain DEFINITELY missed it) because i didnt know i tried setting: - eye bones to individual origins - head to local rotation - my computer on fire,
in 16:55 where is main texture conected?
for anyone coming in with later models and getting funky legs, if your model imports with a center bone (a big bone that starts at the feet), delete it before using Rename/Roll and converting to Mixamo and the conversion should work okay.

vroid to blender armature : => import vroid => use cat settings => use rename and roll => create mixamo rig => go to edit more; create a new group for eyes => press p to seperate teh eyes from the body => select the mody, go the pose pose => right click; click on converstion => choose the extract rig => choose mixamo => regenerate rig => enjoy animation
haaa, I really wanna have the toon shader from the goo engine (the one with a tutorial) but I just can't get it to work with my vroid model. Whenever I try to use it, the eyes look weird and yea I don't know.. Has someone a tutorial or a blend file where they achieved that look in evee/goo engine with the shader tut from the tutoial of the creater of the goo engine on a vroid model, without looking weird?
@@lpmitmano9572 what exactly do you mean by eyes looking weird. if it's an issue with alpha you might need to mix a transparent shader with alpha as a factor and also make sure blend mode is set to alpha clip in shader settings

Great vid but in the shading part, when I do your trick, what happens is when there's no light falling, it becomes a dark rough looking material, how to fix that? I turned contact shadows on.
i assume you're using newer version of blender if so then you'll need to use anything below 4.2 cause Eevee works completely differently now

Hey!! I tried your Cycles Toon Shader Setup but it doesn't look 2D at all. When I watched your Tutorial on how you do your animation setups etc... but when I tired it out it looked more 3D than it did before using the setup. I want to have a 2D look with the Bloom and lighting effect the Cycles Setup has but it doesn't work for me. Did I do something wrong?

friend, I can throw my character into a stuntman with my own rig, where there is a face rig. Do the body animation in a cascadeur, and then FINISH the face animation in a blender?
not sure what you mean by stuntman but you can pretty much retarget any animation from any armature

stuff is a bit messy now in new versions you can try unzipping and installing the python file instead

Using blender 4.1, after I renamed the vroid bones, and i created the control rig with mixamo everything is fine escept the hair, all the bones in the hair are gone or at least i can't see them, does anyone know how to fix this?
there're probably in a different bone collection

hey buddy, my shader have very different toon shader(maybe some update in vroid), it does not have separate main textures but an entire setup of mtoonshader, and its kinda difficult for me to navigate through it, do you have any solution? or any tutorial for that?
if you don't plan on using that shader then just delete everything and do it from scratch. the textures are all still in the blendfile, if you add an image node you can find all of them in it's dropdown

you have pretty much full control over how the hair rig ends up in vroid's hair bounce settings so i suggest just sticking with that as for the clothes you can see in my other video that i just use surface rig add-on to quickly make a crude rig it's not the best but it works. you can of course take your to polish it

i followed all of the step until this one at 13:31, after you offset the eyes bone into head bone and move it while the eyes and head are selected, the eyes didnt move for me (ive tried many things like seeing the bone constrant and try to redo the segment) it didnt work, did i forgot some steps, or its a normal thing? (sorry for my bad english)
does it move normally just on it's own? try turning individual origins on

There's an add-on for Mixamo compatibility with Vroid models? My approach has always just been to use a blank model with the same proportions as the active model to create a Mixamo rig, and then just use the weight paint transfer to automatically move the rig over to my full model (and then re-attach the hair and clothing bones afterwards, its tedious and probably more work than its worth I'll admit.) Interesting to see someone else who also follows a Vroid -> Blender workflow.

tbh my workflow is still very work in progress 😅 since i work mostly in blender anyways i don't really import or export anything. even when i want some outside models i just use stuff from blender kit add-on. you can check out my other video on that

So I'm having an issue where when I make my metarig it's not scaled properly so when I re-generate a rig it's also not scaled properly. Any help on what I might be doing wrong?
sounds like it didn't work and it's just showing the default metarig. make sure your bones names are renamed to mixamo names

Though, how do I add some ik to the elbow and knees so I can have more control over it? edit: so i found a way for the elbow but the knee is messy but it kinda works with the right angle pose, and if anyone having troubles with the CAT addons saying error about "TESTING"; ⚠BTW BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE: im a beginner too so im just sharing what i found. ---------- 🦴adding elbows/knees IK [credits to MrWeisbrod channel, video titled "Blender - Controlling Elbows and Knees with IK"]: (i skipped the CATs addons at 0:08) 1) after exporting the .vrm, it should come with pre-existing bones 2) in object mode, select armature 3) press tab to go to edit mode, select the joints between upper arm and lower arm (the balls shaped) 3) extrude to y axis 4) select the extruded bone, right click > Parent > clear > clear parent (this will be your IK) 5) go to pose mode, select the extruded bone then the upper arm bone (make sure the upper arm is selected LAST) 6) shift + i to "add IK to active bones" 7) it will be messy so after selecting the upper arm, go to "bone constraint" properties tab on lower left window, change "chain length" to 1 8) repeat for the other side of elbows/knees (i used upper leg part for the knees) 9) go back to object mode, select "rename vroid bones for mixamo" addons from the toolbox then click "RENAME AND ROLL" at 0:19 and follow the rest of the video ---------- ❗CATs plugin "TESTING" error troubleshoot (credits to u/Corroid on r/VRchat): 1) reach the .zip folder of the CATS plugin, browse it and find the file "__init__.py" 2) copy the file on your desktop and edit it with a text editor, notepad is enough 3) look for the word 'TESTING' in the code, you should find a line that looks like this bpy.context.window_manager.addon_support = {'OFFICIAL', 'COMMUNITY', 'TESTING'} (I found it at line 319) 4) remove the TESTING part from that line, comma and single quotes included, the result has to look like bpy.context.window_manager.addon_support = {'OFFICIAL', 'COMMUNITY'} 5) save the file, copy it from your desktop and paste it back into the .zip file 6) uninstall and install the plugin again, it shouldn't give you the error anymore

Yo weird question, I had to reinstall my Windows drive and set blender back up. When I use the Mixamo plugin, all my character's hair bones disappear now when previously I was able to convert to a Mixamo rig and the hair bones would stay. Is this a result of the updated for 4.0 Mixamo plugin in the description, or is this something else like using 4.1 and that's not supported? I was applying spring bones to the hair bones to save time manually animating the hair during walk cycles and now it's all stiff lol. Thanks!
do you mean after using mixamo add on? if so it's probably in another bone layer
@@ArtificialLight Yeah, after using the Mixamo Add On to convert the standard Vroid rig to a Mixamo rig, the hair bones disappear. This didn't used to happen with a previous version, and I actually just went back to Blender 3.6 and used the old Add On version and the hair bones stayed. I then exported the 3.6 converted Mixamo rig and imported it to my 4.1 project and swapped the armatures lmao. I'll check the bone layers after running the 4.1 add on and see if I just didn't see them get sorted elsewhere. Thanks!
