Hello All, I am new to Openpilot Community. We have a 2023 xl SLT Yukon. Is there a possibility that Comma 3 could be installed? It has LKS and ACC, 360 cameras and all. I am mainly looking for Lane Centering

The metric isn't "better", it's "cost effective". 40,000 people die on our highways every year and we don't care enough to save them because it's not cost effective. We already know how to let people survive bad wrecks (see NASCAR). Until self-driving technology is cheaper than just replacing the people who die on the highways, it will continue to be a niche product.

Cmma openpilot is an open source driver-assistance system. Currently, openpilot performs the functions of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Automated Lane Centering (ALC) for compatible vehicles. It performs similarly to Tesla Autopilot and GM Super Cruise. openpilot can steer, accelerate, and brake automatically for other vehicles within its lane. The driver must always be able to immediately retake manual control of the vehicle, by stepping on the brake pedal or by pressing the cancel button. When openpilot is engaged, a driver monitoring system actively tracks driver awareness to help prevent distractions. The openpilot system disengages if you are distracted. Drivers must keep their eyes on the road at all times and be ready to take control of the car.

Where did you find the chart that shows which cars will use stock ACC or open pilot?

Interesting; do stop for gas and drive around for usual breaks a driver would take?

If I buy a Comma 3 for an electric MG4 in the UK - is there any guidance on how I can get this car supported, is there a "todo" list of things that I can follow to track and trace CAM codes and map them.

If this is a better system than Tesla's or Cadillac's, it is not still very safe to rely on as self driving sytem. I 'll wait for improvements.

Nice to see openpilot/comma working in Europe :) Greets from Poland. For now too expensive for me to buy it (taxes, fees, bleh). Maybe someone want to sell/re-sell this hardware in EU in the future.

I've owned my Comma 2 for over 3.5 years. In year two, the fan went and the unit shut down. I removed the factory fan and installed a small 80mm computer fan wiring it direct to the car's 12 volt power. I also painted the exterior white which cut down on the heat absorbed from the sun. The second problem was the GPS system went on it. While not needed for the Comma 2 to operate, it does give a green box error message that takes up most of the lower part of the screen. For over a year I ignored the message and the Comma 2 worked just fine. When Comma AI announced the Comma 3, I was hesitant as the price of $2K was a bit much. When George Hotz left the company for Twitter but came back and cut the price to $1400, I ordered the Comma 3. I understand that future firmware updates will allow for stop sign and stop light abilities. I also hear that the GPS on Comma 3 will allow the Comma 3 to self drive routes chosen. I hear that as it is an open source firmware, people are working to increase the abilities of the Comma 3. Was the Comma 3 worth getting after having the Comma 2? ABSOLUTELY. The video capabilites of the Comma 3 will allow for future updates. The Comma 2 is no loger supported by Comma AI...which is to be expected. It will still work with the final firmware version. The Comma 2 fan will eventually go on all the Comma 2's out there and the GPS shutdown is also a well know fault of the Comma 2. I use my comma's almost all the time. Best purchase other than real estate that I have ever made. Highly recommended. Thanks George Hotz!!!!!!

Stock autopilot should get some improvements from FSD beta sometime later (not sure when that will happen though). At least that's the plan since Autopilot is still using a production version that hasn't been updated as often as FSD beta.

3:45 This is not legal driving in most states. The guy has earbuds in. Having any kind of buds/headphones can distract you from hearing other sounds, as a driver. (Not sure if you were just ignorant of this when picking video clips, or maybe I have found some kind of easter egg you intended to be funny? 😁)

Love my comma 3! I 'only' have about 14k miles total though between two vehicles (2021 rav4 hybrid and now a 2023 santa fe).

I have a 2021 Honda Civic Hatchback; do you recommend this product after your fair use of it? I've been following Openpilot and George for a while now, but hesitated since my car model doesn't utilize the full functionality vs. the 2022 model. Thanks again for your detailed vids!

I wonder when the 4th Gen Toyota Sienna (2021-23) will be supported by Openpilot. I have been waiting for about two years now.

I have a stock 2018 Acura RDX Advanced and just testdrove 2022 RDX. It did exceptionally well on gentle interstate curves but just like my 2018 RDX tends to drift over lanes on main street, country and state roads when curves are sharper trying to drive me into a ditch and kill you. I was suprised that 2022 did not have it fixed. Do you experience across lane drift with OP on your Honda?

Need a better camera setup for these. The Tesla video was ok. The Honda vid was wobbly.
