Congratulations on your new family member! We are expecting our first this winter and I’ve enjoyed knitting for him.
Congratulations to you too! A winter baby ❤
❤ onnea teille 🤗
Kiitos ❤
Olipa ihana nähdä, että sulta on tullut uusi video! Ja onnea!! 🥰
Kiitos ja kiitos ❤
Congratulations wishing you all the best
I am making the Amy slipover. Did you adjust the pattern? I am using the same yarns but my unblocked back side looks so small.
Hi, I'm sorry I haven't answered you, I had a baby :D I did no modifications to my Amy slipover, but I tend to have a loose gauge. I'm sure your slipover is beautiful! - Sonja
Yay for perfect sound! I love the colour of your beanie and thinks it suits your colouring perfectly. The Lento fits you beautifully, but on screen you can’t really see the difference in the colours of the different yarns. I trust you that there’s a fade though 😂 I’m so happy that you had such a lovely holiday. I’m working on a pair of socks at the moment, every now and again, picking up a crochet blanket that will be a Christmas gift. Thanks for your lovely podcast. Jinny
❤️
We should all be fortunate enough to have management that’s so adorable! I love the pace of life that is shown in your videos. Jinny x
❤️
Perfect video to relax to after school work 🥰
Thank you! I had amazing healing time with your vlog and cup of tea ❤️
❤❤❤
I am always ready for the new socks ❤️
Love those mittens! The colors are pretty together and the picot edge. Are the leggings worn by themselves or under pants? I love making blankets because you can enjoy combining colors!
Hi Jeannette! You're meant to wear these leggins/pants/trousers (I'm not sure about the lingo here) over pants and under the outerwear as a thermolayer that you put on when going outside. You could wear them also by themselves as long as you're using soft materials. I've actually been thinking about knitting a pair of pants from merino-cotton blend, those would be super comfy!
I love your cosiest memories blanket - especially the beautiful orange and yellow square in your latest row ❤❤ I thoroughly agree with you that any making should be for enjoyment, not simply to have a lot of content. Jinny - UK
Thanks Jinny <3
I agree with you. It is more fun for me to put together something out of leftover yarn than going to the store to shop for new yarn. Too many choices overwhelm me sometimes and I end up purchasing nothing. It was the same when I made beaded jewelry. I always loved broken necklaces with beads missing so I would not feel guilty cutting them up and refashioning the different beads into a whole new pattern. People used to give me their broken jewelry to “play” with. Also, you can make a splendid pair of earrings with only two or four beads! What fun! I enjoyed this video. I am now a new subscriber for you! Cheers from Pennsylvania, USA.
Hi Sharon :) I agree, there's just something with working with limited supplies. I find it often actually boosts my creativity!
Your knits are beautiful, just subscribed to your Chanel, look forward to seeing more from you. Can’t wait to see the sileste finished, it looks gorgeous!!!!❤x
Thank you so much Lorraine! I have high hopes for my Seleste, hopefully I'll make good progress with it during my holiday!
Your knits are adorable I look forward to seeing the Seleste finished, it might be a good idea to wet block the yoke as it looks very full, when blocked it may be a bit too large. I hope not but that would be my suggestion. Love the Penguino.
Hi Jo-Anne, thanks for your comment! I did wet block the yoke and you were right, it was too big for me. The stitch count was off by a whole size, I blame sleepless nights with the baby for that. I have the second try currently on my needles :)
@@kutopia sleepless nights play havoc with our brains xx
I love ,love the Pengweeno. I really need to make one .I love everything you have done, much to my taste.
Your Stephen West shawl is one of the nicest Ive seen.Glad you didnt add the icords. Love the vest you are wearing too
Thank you for the comment! It's really hard choosing the colours for a mystery project but I have to agree that this was a success :) I should probably talk about the vest in the next episode, it's been my absolute favourite recently. - Sonja
The hobby horse is adorable!!!
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦...very happy to have found your podcast 😀
Hi Sandra! I'm very happy that you found Kutopia as well! - Sonja
What a lovely surprise to have a podcast from you today. It was good to see your favourite knits and to hear about your future plans. I have thought long and hard about my crafting and have come to the conclusion that knitting is - for the most part - not something I can do any more. My poor brain has gone through so much with all the operations and knitting is just too hard for me. I can, however, still do simple crochet and I mainly make blankets for donation. I love the colours, the variety and the fact that they are helping people and animals. So 2023 is going to be a crochet year for me. I can watch podcasts like yours and be glad that I no longer have to worry about the problems knitting causes me. I have started by crocheting on a blanket to go to an animal sanctuary which has 11 feral cats in their barn which need some blankets. I am just using scraps of wool for it. I hope you and your family have a very happy and healthy new year. I too love the linguini for your child, but the Hobby Horse is a close second!! Jinny - UK
Hi Jinny! I'm sorry to hear about your troubles but luckily you have your crocheting. There's so much you can do with different colours even with the most basic blankets or then you can do a one coloured one and it will still look good and be functional. I wish a happy new year for you as well, I hope it will be easier for you. - Sonja
I can take the clothes that you will get rid of 😇
A beautiful selection of knitting. Since Christmas I have been trying to knit, but my brain is no longer able to recount pattern repeats or even hold on to the number of stitches. So I am giving it a rest and just doing crochet. I needed a break from blankets so am trying to make a ribbed hat for the first time. So 2023 is going to be a bit of a learning year for me. Wishing you and your family a happy new year Jinny - UK
Thanks Jinny! I really admire you for your ability to see difficulties as opportunities to learn new 🧡 I wish a happy new year for you and your family as well! - Sonja
I think that’s the loveliest Advent video I have seen. I love the way your child takes part in everything, you take things at a leisurely pace, you walk rather than always being in a car, and you don’t just buy, buy, buy. I loved the look of that second hand shop and your Christmas tree was a perfect size and decorated beautifully. Thank you for giving me a glimpse into someone else’s life which has some peace and quiet in it. Hope you are still feeling well. Jinny - UK.
Thank you so much for your kind words Jinny! At first I was a bit anxious that there's not enough happening in our lives but in the end I decided to just film my life as it is. I have worked and continue to work hard on building my life as relaxed, stress free (and boring) as it can be and I wanted to document that. I'm so happy that you recognized and enjoyed that ❤
😍❣️
So sorry you have got Covid. Up until that point, I thought it was the best Vlogmas I have seen. Your child looked so beautiful, shovelling snow, going shopping and then pulling their sledge. Absolutely adorable. The scenery is magical too. I hope you soon feel well again. Jinny - UK ❤️❄️❄️❤️ 🕊🕊🕊🕊
I was really lucky with my vlogmas weather! We don't usually get snow before Christmas this far South but this year was so beautiful! Fortunately my case of Covid was quite mild but I still have to say that it's not reagular a common cold, no it's not. I too think that my child's adorable, they light uo even the gloomiest of days! - Sonja
❤️
I loved this video. The lighting was perfect - all warm and glowing. I was (am now medically retired because of brain tumour surgeries) an early years teacher - up to age 11. In 2008 I went on a research trip to Rauma, visiting schools, daycare centres and libraries. I loved the culture and - in the settings I was in anyway - the less frantic pace of life. Britain too is a Christian country, but with a much larger population of different countries than Finland has, we have lots of Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. After 40 years of Christianity and studying comparative religion at university for my first degree, I am now a Buddhist. I like the celebrations like Advent though. Your home is beautiful and so is your family. Thank you for sharing this little slice of life with us. Jinny - UK
Thanks for the comment Jinny. I have to admit that my knowledge of Buddhism is slim and mostly forgotten (I too took some comparative religion at university way over ten years ago) but the video you send me on Instagram really resonated with me and I've watched many times. I'll do my notes for the next year tonight (not resolutions per se but some ideas and goals) I'll probably circle back to that video tonight as well! - Sonja
What a lovely family you have ❤️
I love the blankets you make. Most of my time is spent crocheting blankets for donation and I love the brightness and boldness of them. I think your skin tone is suited to more colours than you think. The nutmeg looked gorgeous and I think teal would be a good colour for you too. I am part way through sorting out my stash - a very slow and painful process because of my brain injuries - and I am quite ashamed at the amount of yarn I have got. I will be able to make crochet blankets for the next several years!! Jinny - UK.
Hi Jinny. I'm so behind with these comments, I'm sorry for that. I do love a good and colorful blanket project. Hopefully I'll see some of crocheting in next year. I too have way too much yarn in my stash, de-stashing shall be one theme for the year 2023! - Sonja
Great first podcast. Well done 👏🏻 I don’t know how people can keep track of so many projects at once. Jinny - UK
So.....I think using leftover yarn is comparable to making a meal with what you have in the cupboard or the frig. Using leftover food can make a great meal and there is the satisfaction you did not waste food. However, as with tying in all those ends from scraps, there can be extra dish washing from all the food storage containers :-) Thanks for making the podcast.
Thank you for your comment! I love the analog you made, fridge-emptying dishes are my speciality ;)
I love that you are trying to use up scraps rather than just buying more and more yarn. Jinny - UK
I am 62 and started knitting at aged 5. In that time, I have never done a gauge swatch. I have also never knitted a garment in the round - I liked to make things on straight needles and then seamed them. I like the way you refer to your child as ‘them/they’, so there is no gender bias 👏🏻 I am vegan so I never use animal fibres - nearly always acrylic as I donate everything I make. A great podcast! Jinny - UK
Thank you for your comment Jinny! Did you know that we only have a gender neutral third-person pronouns in Finnish (hän/he)? I'm pleased to know that you noticed this detail since we try to be as gender sensitive in our parenting as we can. I can tell you that it has and continues to be a learning curve :)
@@kutopia well done you! I was on a week’s research trip to Rauma in Finland in 2008 and it was beautiful.
I have just come across your podcast and I really enjoyed the episode. In the last 3 years I have had 4 major brain tumour operations and can no longer knit - so I crochet blankets, all of which are donated. I do enjoy knitting podcasts though. I love your choice of colours for the October Stephen West MKAL - though I personally am not keen on his aesthetic. I have subscribed and shall now go back to watch your older podcasts. Jinny - UK
Hi Jinny, thank you so much for your lovely comments! I'm sorry to hear about your health. I hope you're feeling better now and that crocheting offers you a creative outlet that we all need in one way or another. - Sonja
I volunteer as a tribute if you need someone to knit for 💛🧡💚💙💜
