Those bridge PUs can be hard to tame. The Artist seemed the best of the three.

You hear with your eyes, so a blind test would have been better. Considering the price difference though (and tuning stability), I'm clearly Team Harley Benton. My ego is large enough to not need a brand name on a headstock.

Yellow sounds good

Sire seems to have more bottom end and brightness. Def my preference!

Had the Artist lpt9 goldtop. Fingerboard is rubbish eco- Rosewood. The guitar is way to heavy as well.

All pretty similar and sweet sounding, but somehow my ears prefer the Artist! It kind of felt like a good middle ground between the other two (the Sire was a bit warmer, the HB a bit brasher). Wish we had those over here in this part of the world...

The PU in the artist seems a bit hotter. I own the HB DC junior FAT which sounds better. The HB DC Junior you're playing isn't the Fat model. I play mostly G&L and Heritage guitars no imports at all. I've been playing Blues for more than 50 years now. Some of the guitars coming out of Indonesia are very good for the money if you can't budget a $2000 guitar. Epiphone's and HB are really good for the money. Los Angeles

Was there a fraction more dirt on the HB? All beautiful looking guitars - I'd be happy with any one of them!

Sire was a bit brighter, more refined a sound, but the difference wasn't drastic!

I suppose I could play this wearin a white Tshirt and blue jeans... But hell... I prefer the walnut.

I got mine delivered in NZ. Flawless! It needed a slight tune out of the box was all. Tuners are solid. Yes, it seems buttons UP to split the coils... PU switch is robust. Tone immaculate. Easy action. Smooth frets. Case fits like a glove. I recently saw a "G" clone of my one on the wall at a local music store for NZD $6500. I'm really happy with my GT Artist. I would say mine shines, but it's more. It glows.

Thought the Epi and Artist were very similar. HB had a bassier tone, in fact, for a bridge pick up, it was remarkably less "bright" (I'm listening through an amp with big speakers, so quite possibly that could have a slight bass bias that you may not be evident through, say, small PC speakers or through a smaller device).

I have one in a collection of 20 guitars of all varieties and it is hands down my favourite, as soon as I pick it up I just fall in love all over again because it feels like it was hand made for me.

Epi definitely sounds better!

The first mod you need to do is to repurpose the tone control for the 12 string volume control. I did that with Rev 1 and that made the guitar playable. Otherwise, you have the same volume for both necks.

Is that fretboard a bit wide for you? I see your thumb coming all the way around the bottom of the neck.

I’ve got one of these and she’s a beauty 😊 I swapped out the pickguard for a tortoiseshell, and named it the Bloody Mary 😀 Say does the cream binding look yellower in real life tho?

I have just recently got a non-relic, one of these, and it is really good, not just good, really good, I like it a lot

Just received the TE62 db black and the HB p90 GT earlier today. The tele was perfect straight of the box, low action frets all level and surprisingly polished for a change, tuners smooth and to top it off brass compensated saddles straight from factory so no need to upgrade anything at the moment….I think both pick ups sound pretty good at this price point and will be staying put for now. The gold top otoh needs a few frets levelled also poorly cut nut with strings too high on the bass strings and the nut isn’t flush with the edges of the bindings and needs a longer size nut probably a 44 mm would fit better. The pick ups need shimmed with foam/springs as they are adjusted as far as can go and still miles away from strings so both sound weedy. Bit of a lottery with Harley Benton but all the issues on the gold top are fixable so pretty happy overall.👍

Both very similar. I really liked the bridge PUs on both - just the right amount of brightness - quite a contrast going from the bridge to even both PUs.

You have a 1976 EG700T, I have a 1976 EG800T, has an ebony fret board and block inlays, your guitar is awesome, and so is the playing

NOTHING in it! However, BOTH had rather DARK sounding neck pick ups!

The difference in sound is minimum.... hardly believable!

A subtle but definite fuller more resonant midrange for the Sire. Both would greatly benefite from a set of Lollars and PIO's.

Yamaha has definitely quality problems with these. I got my brand new Revstar RSS02T and it had an incorrect radius bridge , poorly cut nut and high frets all causing buzzing. It took a luthier hours just to make it playable and the Yamaha customer service is non-existent. I am left with a guitar with tool marks on the get board, cracked binding, poorly fitted nut and water in the paint. Terrible quality and quality control!

I would like to buy another guitar with P90s in them. I play a lot of classic rock, i.e., AC/DC, Boston, Beatles, Stones, 38 Special, Greenday, that kind of music. Can you recommend any guitar(s) with P90 Pickups? I already have a Gibson SG Special with P90s.
