Honestly the best advice on the double-stroke roll I've ever heard.... accent the SECOND note. When you play it fast it sounds smooth.

I found this video on Google videos pre TH-cam like 20 years ago. I still use these techniques today. I’m so glad I found it again.

Based on all the recent A/B analysis I’ve seen on TH-cam regarding bass drum single ply vs. double ply heads, I’ve observed the opposite of what this video says: single ply = more attack and less woofy low end and double ply = less attack and more woofy low end
