    Simone Veil était malheureusement mêlée à une sombre affaire de dons d'organe au bénéfice d'Israël. La plupart des français n'étaient pas au courant et auraient sans doute protesté s’ils étaient venus à l’apprendre.

    I definitely get having a crush on a historical figure. 😁 Interesting hearing about the writing process, as well as many other things of course. “Well, it’s John Updike. What can I say?” 😂 My thoughts exactly. “It doesn’t belong in a museum.” ?? It astounds me with how ubiquitous nudes are in art that this painting is STILL so controversial. I assume the extreme aversion to nudity is about 1) hating change or anything different; so if those parents aren’t used to being comfortable with nudity and it doesn’t fit into their worldview, they would rather others change than their mindset, and 2) control, as is so often the case when it comes to which body parts are designated shameful. 1/

    • @NoelleMar
      @NoelleMar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because it’s one thing to discuss objectification and respect for others, but to remove all sense of community or individuality from that discussion is just oppressive… The women not being able to get over the hair is also that aversion to difference or change lol. Sometimes people expect art in many forms to conform to their fantasy, which is often built on stereotypes and what they’re used to. But then they have similar reactions to different people and things in real life as well!! I think there is a place for feelings of course and it is important to be “appropriate” or “inappropriate” when it comes to RESPECTING others. But this discussion is of course hijacked by those who encourage this embrace of feelings over *all* reason and suggest you only respect CERTAIN people and their feelings. 2/

    • @NoelleMar
      @NoelleMar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Recent discourse (three years after this interview) really astounded me when it came to people discussing certain tv shows (which has been considered better than just trash for several decades) who use absolutely no research, textual evidence, or systematic arguments when they publish their thoughts about it. They justify saying complete untruths about the show because “that is how they feel.” They felt uncomfortable, so they will say that the plot included things it simply didn’t. This includes both Americans and Europeans, but it is Americans especially who are *downright furious* at being forced to think about something instead of being spoon fed entertainment that appeals to them exclusively. There’s no sense that anyone else exists or that stories aren’t just meant to evoke strong but comfortable emotions. Someone who was far more thoughtful than most said that of course people wouldn’t think rationally about entertainment because entertainment and art aren’t logical, they’re emotional. 3/

    • @NoelleMar
      @NoelleMar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As though any essays, analyses, or reviews of literature and art have been completely erased and forgotten. Paradoxically, because there’s no recognition of individuality, there’s no commonality. People have their own bubbles and do not listen or read other opinions. They judge what others say based on their impressions not their actual words. Great discussion! Though now I’m angry lol. 4/

    I became fluent in Russian, which is about four times as difficult as French. How I did this was, to obsess constantly about learning words, immersing myself in culture and speaking to people everyday, watching television and speaking into my phone to get translations when I didn't know a word, and memorization, believing is important; to believe that you can speak well, and will speak well. Then, I met my fiance', and she only speaks Russian, and my fluency has increased ten fold over the years by speaking to her everyday about every topic in Russian. Good luck.

    there are lots of people from Britain, Canada and the States that buy Chateau in France and don't spend the kind of money you are talking about and I doubt that Dick and Angel spend what you're talking about either. you can watch many of their vlogs on youtube

    • @fineartlifestyling
      @fineartlifestyling 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And then they spend their entire lifetime which isn’t enough to bring the chateau back to its original state as it’s a constant work in progress and it requires constant maintenance. They are consumed with DIY renovation projects as well as clogging to raise money to assist with upkeep. This is incredibly difficult and consuming. It’s a huge sacrifice of time, physical well-being, your energetic resources and mental well-being. It’s for the very few with very optimistic worldviews and a hearty personality and body. Vlogging alone is a full time job, renovating and maintaining a castle is another! This is why these people reply heavily in volunteers and have people coming in and out of their home, also not for everyone and not for the faint of heart. That’s the reality.

    I never, never understood people who want to move to a foreign country, to stay, that they don’t start out, before puchasing a house abroad, start with learning at least a bit of the language of that country! Especially Englismen and Americans think, English is the only language in the world and everyone else should stand in attention and speak it! NO, you are a guest in another country and its only polite to learn their language if you want to live there!

    • @TheFiown
      @TheFiown 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I see English people in France only frequenting other English speaking people, it's annoying. I moved to France in 1978 but I already spoke quite a bit of French, then I avoided frequenting other English speaking people so as to perfect my French. I met a non English speaking French man and we were together for 20 years restoring two homes in the country. It's ok to seek out English people in the beginning but they have to learn the language of the country they now live in if they mean to make France their home. People say I speak French better than a French person and I am proud of that.

    Adrian you are a legend. God Bless you for your honesty. I will be subscribing to all your news letters , as my husband is making up his mind to retire & we would like to have a second home in France but a modest one as we do not want to get involved with any sort of renovations as we have been there done that several times & now just want to enjoy France as we have done in the past when we could travel, but stay there for long periods. I am in the process for applying in Australia where I live for a visa for one year so we can spend time getting the right property. You will be our first point of contact once we get that visa. Again thank you for your honesty & care. Who ever thought of putting out this video is a genius as it has helped a lot with queries that one has. Wish you could do a few more & answer more questions.

    What an education I got via your discussion. Thank you so much. The skills Bunny accessed through other masters and her own intrinsic artistic abilities and skills with regard to her landscape designs and techniques culminated into something that brought things to a level America should be forever greatful for. Her access to French and American landscape design masters allowed her own artistic abilities to soar and I am sure they benefited from her as well. She was a master in her own right.
