I went for a quick local trip winter camping on Vancouver Island with VanIsle4Runner. We were lucky enough to camp in the snow under the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

Jackery Explorer 500 - One Year Update
มุมมอง 15K4 ปีที่แล้ว
After 1 year of running our Dometic CFX75 Fridge using the Jackery Explorer 500 do we still recommend it? If not, what else should you consider??

Jackery Explorer 500 vs Dometic CFX 75... how long can it go?
มุมมอง 48K4 ปีที่แล้ว
We do some real world testing of the Jackery Explorer 500 to see how long it can power a Dometic CFX 75 dual zone fridge freezer under different conditions and using both the AC and DC power outlets.
Strange Times - Camping on Vancouver Island during COVID-19

A few weeks back my tenant and I decided to get away from the craziness of the city during the outbreak, get out into the back country, and do some of the things we enjoy the most. This is a short film about our adventure.
Nice comparison
This video is awesome. It was great to know how long a small power station can charge a domestic fridge. It’s Black Friday and I’m looking for the right power station but knowing a small one is good enough, that really helps !! Thank you
That was my backyard, but Mt Richardson is even more spectacular.... rough climb but well worth it, and the lakes are something to see also
Loved your video. I have the Jackery 1000, wish I would have purchased the 2000. And yes planning on purchasing the Dometic. So this truly helped me have a clear time limit, amd limits regarding these 2 products.. Thanks
Jackery charge painfully slow. Never buy a Jackery.
What happens if the Jackery craps the bed in the middle of nowhere?
He's very caring and not sharing locations 😂😂
Why do people need to put anyoing music with video
Great information! Thanks!
Why don’t you make videos anymore
Shouldn't there be a total of 4 tests?
Love your content and rig setup. I would be nice if you can create some content on the mods and overlanding gear.
My dometic will cut off while using the DC on my jackery 500.. apparently voltage is too low but idk why. I keep the dometic on the lowest power too.
Great views, but where are they located?
man thank you for this review !!!!!!!!!!
Nicely done. Thanks.
Jackery has a stop build in, so I can't deplete it to 0 .
So good. Great to see the difference without that inverter. I’ve got the Jackery and this run time is making the Dometic look like a good purchase option!
Thanks for sharing this video, interesting information.👍
I subscribed, decent content!
Wow 40w solar input? That’s pretty bad. Seems like you have their first generation. The new jackery do not charge that slow. I have 3 and non charge that slow like yours.
Excellent. Thank u.
Thank you ! Lots of excellent information ! Make more videos like do overlanders a dual battery system with a DC to DC inverter/ charger ! And the cost !
Just found this! Thanks for this. I’m thinking of getting the CFX3 45 and am looking for a power solution. This vide really helps. Cheers
Lovely starry night shot man..
So is it as simple to say that the Jackery 250 would manage to power the same fridge half of the time??
Amazing trip.
This was actually suuuper helpful. Thank you so much!
Dude. This was amazing. Love to tag along, got a ‘11 tundra, I’m in Nanaimo.. new to overlanding but have been wheelin’ for years! Thanks!
this is the data I needed. thx for sharing. We have the 1000 Jackery and we have an old dometic we rarely use. Strangely enough, we favor the Yeti (I think ours is 45) but we did recently get the Yeti 24 Roadie and I might b crazy but I feel it doesn't perform as well as the big Yeti. So my mind starts exploring. 24 hrs isn't a long time to power the fridge but this data helps. Yeti 24 can stay cold 24 hrs before all ice turns water (we never use ice directly in there, they are always in our reusable stasher ziploc and never leaks, bonus is once they turn ice, we use them to clean dishes while at camp). I will test the roadie 24 more, our big Yeti holds ice almost 10 days (yes! 10). I'm baffled as to the roadie's performance, perhaps the darker color really affects its performance.
This was very useful for me, thank you.
Haven’t seen anyone up this way in years! Hahahaha
At the dc plug there are two auxiliary plugs. What are those used for? And what is the size of the ports?
Great video, can't wait to visit BC
Jackery is overrated. I’ve had it and have the same problem. Bluetti is way better for real world functionality. I went to the eb70 and got two SP200 panels with decent conditions the two SP200 produce about 350watts and the bluetti e70 can only take 160watts and charge in 5.5hrs with solar from dead. With the extra 140watts from the other panel you can power anything else up to the extra 140watts the extra panel is producing without effecting the speed of the eb70 charging.
Thank you!!! This was so helpful!!!
So do u recommend jackery without solar... I mean we can charge on a shop or with our vehicle instead of solar🥰
Great Video!!!! We feel your pain.... we experienced a trail that degraded to nothing to the point we had to reverse a ways to find a turning point on our most recent adventure Thanks for sharing your video if interested this was ours th-cam.com/video/gHInG6H0jO0/w-d-xo.html
Is this an earlier model? It says max input is 100w for the current model. I've seen 80 watts in from same panel, but I'm in S Ca. Also, did you run the fridge off AC or DC? DC is more efficient.
Thank you.
Thanks!
That was very helpful, thanks. I hadn't even considered DC being more efficient.
Nice video, but I have to ask why would you park in the lake to camp? That's not really loving the environment. Now before anyone jumps on me and calls me a tree hugger, I was a logger for 35 years and would never think of doing that. Great scenery though.
Thanks for the video and tests. I wonder how good it works if the jackery is plugged into solar panels, do you think that with full sun it would be auto-sufficient?
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you and great video.
our matching Jackery solar saga 100w gives 61 to 64ish watts. Our Aspernova 54 quart 12v 35 watt will run almost 2 days without charge. With charge via solar it tops up fine everyday in the sun. Maybe the panels you are using are not very efficient. Secondly are you using the plug in dc? Switch to the ac cigarette lighter plug it is far more efficient.
Exactly! thank you for that, hooking up to the DC outlet is crucial.
Thanks. I was wondering this exact question! Any downside to running the domestic long-term using the jackery 1000 and a solar charger?
No issue, it only pulls about 35w, if you have a 100w solar panel that will bring in 3x the amount needed to recharge the Jackery each day.
Great video - Thank you -
How much you want for it
I saw your posting on IOverlander. If the info is still current, I would be interested in taking you up on your offer for a night or maybe two. I’m in Qualicum Beach tonite but will be in the Courtenay/Cumberland area tomorrow, 2031/06/26. My YT channel is HogTide Rising.
