Doug Hall Storyteller

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 1 มิ.ย. 2014
I am a slightly crazy, Master photographer, film maker & coffee addict who is continually striving to grow as a storyteller.
You will find educational and inspirational resources for photographers and film makers, as well as a few insights about me and the way I tell stories.
My creative world has become dark and the only thing I know is that I have to move forward. In the dark. Hitting crap with my shins and swearing like a wharf worker, but still moving forward. Why I hear you say? Because sitting still, in the dark, waiting for the last trace of sanity to leave my mind, just isn't a friggin option for me anymore.

Nice one mate. Always loved your B&W work. Especially that shoot with Holly. (probs biased there 😁)
Thanks 😊
Redundancy is king. :)
Ain’t that the truth.
For some reason the auto quality select on youtube player selects 720p, it looks much better at 1080p. Thanks mate for the discount code.
That’s weird. I’ll look at it. Thanks.
Can't say I was expecting you to say Gaffe tap!
Best stuff ever 😃
Nice cool tuts. 🙂
Glad you like them!
Very good explanation, this one helped me a lot!
Glad you liked it. 😃😃
Beautiful work. I love nature and macro photography too.
Awesome! Thank you!
And which one is the best looking and technical editing method from your five?
Best looking is a personal choose. People like different things. 😃
Great tips, straight forward. I love BW photos. I especially like your tips on brushing in details. Thanks!
So glad it was helpful 😃
Thnx for the good content! But why this backround music? So disturbing. So distracting. It destroys the quality.
Glad you like the content. 😃 I’ll take your suggestion on changing the background music for the next video I make.
Very good, Thanks.
Glad u liked it 😃
Great image and edit! I think you may have mixed up the term crushing the blacks with fading them. I believe crushing the blacks is to make the darkest tones darker, crushing dark shades of Grey into black. Vs what you have done here is the opposite, raising black into shades of Grey, fading the blacks. "Fading" may be a colloquial term, but I think crushing is pretty well established as a defined term.
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah you are bang on. I always interchange the term crushing the blacks. DOUH Hahahah
your job was great!!. I have a comment, though. LR never works with originals. So, you may want to duplicate, as you did, but not because you could damage the original. Looking forward to see more edits from you. 'All the best.
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah agree with your comment. I always duplicate for a changed version because normally with a client job I always deliver the clean colour edit as well as the modified version. Sometimes the client doesn’t like the new colour version. Looking forward to sharing more edits with you all as well 👍😃

Great video, thanks. Love the laid back approach so yeah catch ya. 👍
"amateur" does NOT mean unskilled. I am an amateur photographer. It means that my photography is for fun. I have none of the constraints of having to earn money from my work. Your use of the term is insulting. John Peter Russell was a significant painter. Look him up. He sold NO paintings.
You have a good point. I should have said beginner. 👍
@@doughallstoryteller Novice, maybe tyro.
Hey Doug, Leo here from far away in Barbados, love the editing techniques in the video, will be watching some more and trying to catch up on your style later
Hi there , so glad you like my style. 😃 hope the methods help you make some awesome images 😃
Your voice is a mixture of butter and gold
Buttered popcorn maybe hahahahah glad u like it. 😃
Great video 👍
Thanks for the kind worked. Glad u liked it. 😃
Welcome baby
Excellent! Thank you 🙏
Welcome. 🙏
it makes perfect sense to me. I have more cameras and lenses that I know what to do with. I got the same rig and love it and shooting more footage now than with the other cameras. It is always in my pocket and ready to go. Love the quick-release handles. I use a mag safe wallet with a hole on the bottom with a Crucial X10 pro 4tb SSD which is much smaller in it to get an even smaller profile with it secure on the front of the iPhone. Also with Blackmagic Cam app I have ProRes, Log, and also proxy files. Brandon Li has shown what can be done with this setup. I am there with you. Us old guys have to stick together. 😀
I showed a pro DoP some other phone footage and he couldn’t tell the difference when captured properly. I thinks it’s a great option for me. Glad your setup is working for you. 😃
@@doughallstoryteller 👍
Makes no sense, the thing looks awkward and a camera is has a lesser profile. Stick with s camera.
Thanks for your thoughts. My setup may not suit everyone 8-) For me it feels good in the hand and shoots well. The good thing about it is it can be customised to what you need it for. If you only need a handle then strip the rest back. Very clean look 8-)
musci too loud, can't understand what you're saying also you're wasting so much time my man
Thanks for your thoughts. I will consider them for the next video 8-)
Dude... I hope you understand hope much time you're wasting. Please stop editing like this. 😂🥲
Old habits die hard. Works for me though 8-)
@@doughallstoryteller fair enough. conquer your habits, or they’ll conquer you.
I love editing like this! I create timelines for each day or whatever makes sense.. sift through all the footage and make my selects and then it makes building the actual edit a lot easier! I have just recently discovered changing the clips colors!
Clips colours are so useful to help organise timelines. I use them allot on larger projects. I just saw you can also colour code your audio clips separately to your video clips if you want.
definitely a good start, almost overqualified to share info ;-) love your work
thanks 8-).
babble babble ;-) i like the "i learn doing projects" bit - 100% agree on that. So much better when there's a goal to work toward
Right !!!! I need an end product sort of thing to motivate me I think hahahahah
Oooh, a DH case with a time portal device....haha
Yeah I thought I would put in an Easter egg hahahah
Nice one Doug
Thanks 👍
Congratulations Doug! You did a great job on this beauty! 👏👏👏 and I love seeing all my makeup effects highlighted so well! 🤟🙏☺️
Thank you so much!!
Sad that it's come to this, I really hope for a better future for these wonderful animals, they deserve better. It's an unphill battle.
I agree. Local community groups and the Australian government are putting actions in place to help. Hope it's not too late.
