    It's been 3 years, how has the hangboard weathered?

    Great video. Yet I'm still left wondering, what requires someone to bake 131 gingerbread men? Also one of the men seems to have a broken arm. I hope you put him out of his misery.

      Thanks for the comment B Stewart! I had a lot of hungry mouths to feed that day. My aim was to represent a diverse range of gingerbread men. All are treated equally, despite their differences.

    • @TartarSource5335
      @TartarSource5335 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know exactly what parts I used. I don't have it anymore. Basically any power mosfet would be fine. As for the photo interuptor, I just bought the cheapest one I could find. Again, it doesn't really matter. The photo interuptor was connected to the gate of the mosfet. The drain and source of the mosfet were connected to the led strip and ground.

      The brown board is called perf board. It's not required. I just used it to solder the components to as I found that easier.

    If you were to make the dancing figures using interchangeable panels it would be a bit more useful as an end user product. Have you tried this with other rotating shapes? Perhaps oblong, spherical, a sort of free forming shape that can configure itself based on how quickly the motor spins or possibly based on how the panels are assembled? Different assemblies would result in new animation styles. Perhaps a flex joint could solve this so it works less like a 3D printed Lithophane animated puzzle and more predictably?

    • @TartarSource5335
      @TartarSource5335 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that interchangeable panels would make it much for useful. I haven't tried with any other shapes. I don't understand how an oblong would work or what you mean by a free forming shape. Unfortunately, I don't have a 3d printer any longer so I can't try out more things. Feel free to make your own improved version. I'd love to see it.

    Does the light really need to flash? could you not just have the light on constantly, and motorize it to spin at just the right RPM to have the animation work?

    • @TartarSource5335
      @TartarSource5335 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it has to flash. If the light is on constantly, it doesn't matter what speed you spin it at, you'll just see a blur as the lithophane is moving. It's the same concept as an old film projector, where the light flashes as the film strip is moving past.

      @@TartarSource5335 I was wondering if you put a solid outer cover with an opening that would permit only one "frame" to be viewed then you might use a constant light source.
