when I press the windows key and x it doesnt say command prompt on mine what am I supposed to click on instead ?

Hello i know this is an old video but mine says the syntax of the command is incorrect what do i do??

I’ve followed all steps but when when I check properties it still says it’s on the c drive

Thank you so, so, so much. It took me months to find out what how to move my mods to my ssd, till I found your video. And don’t for get to add \Mods at the end of the first part when coding. That’s why it was saying file already exists(for me).😊 🥰

Those of you that want to remove the junction link in your command prompt enter the following below. You're basically entering the file path from above, minus all the other verbiage. Insert rmdir before, example: rmdir "%UserProfile%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods" This will sever the junction link, no files from your target folder will be deleted. Again... To Create: MKLINK /J "%UserProfile%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods" "Target folder I.E. Mods" To Remove: rmdir "%UserProfile%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods"

Lowkey, no matter if I made my preset but it just wont save and I literally did other tuts and it still wont save.. so I'll probably just quit the game at this point. smh /not targeted towards you or the creator

Hi so I did this, the magic link worked perfectly but when I opened my game. None of my mods or cc showed up, like nothing at all. Yes, the mods are enabled in the game but still nothing shows up.

If it says "Cannot create a file when that file already exists," you probably made the same mistake I did and copied to contents on the sims 4 Mods folder rather than the entire thing. Rename or delete the Mods folder the sims created.

Also, if you're like me and got too cocky because you've done this a bunch of times and stopped watching part way through and now it won't see where you've put the mods folder and you don't know where you put it and also you don't seem to be able to reset the junction - it could happen 😳 - I come with time saving tip. Copy the saves, tray, mods etc etc and delete the whole documents Sims 4 folder. lol. It will regenerate totally clean and pulling from that folder again and you can make the junction with a little more focus this time 🤣 edit: I put ONLY a simple loading screen in the Mods folder to make sure it's working. And I change the picture for the final check.

Right so love this. I kept getting the “system couldn’t find the path yada yada message” If this has happened to you, 1. Go the where the original sims 4 documents was on “This Pc” ( the sims 4 folder won’t be there. 2. Go to the electronic arts folder 3. Right click and click properties 4. look at location [this is where i noticed “onedrive”] 5. Add the extra file where it needs to be in the code e.g. I had to change mine to “%UserProfile%\onedrive\documents\electronic arts\The sims 4 etc. Hope this helps anyone who is stuck

I tried this way and it did nothing but mess up my folders. Is there way I can code it back out?? I talked to multiple support teams and even they couldn’t help.

This is what my path file looks like: Electronic arts > The sims 4 > Mods > Mods is that normal? bc when i enter the sims 4 folder it shows "Mods" and below it the "resource.cfg" and when I click enter the mods folder that is where all of my mods are. For my harddrive the pathway looks like This pc > "Harddrive name" > Sims 4 mods > Mods . Is this normal?

If anyone is getting the "System cannot find the path specified" message what you need to do is find the path that leads to your original sims "Mods" folder in your file explorer, copy the path from the bar, then go to the MKLINK note, and paste it over the first path (the first path in quotations) then copy the newly edited MKLINK to the command prompt and hit enter. If it works it should say a junction was created and specifies the path you gave it.

I did that and it still download to my c hard drive and my d hard drive and on top of that I got a link thing and copied my folder for the d hard drive so my Sims folder is still in my c hard drive I don't know what to do

i tried this and i didnt work, and now i want to put my file back to where it was but i dont know how

much more easier if you cut and pasted, anyways, worked well for me!

This works for my mods/cc just having troubles with the tray files & is it supposed to take a while for the game to actually start up ? It take a good 6 minutes to load from my laptop I only did the mods tho . I followed every step . Sb anybody 😩🧎‍♀️

To fix the error of "Cannot create a file when that file already exists" make sure there isnt a mod folder in the sims 4 tray. If there is, delete it and that should fix it.
